Happiness Cafe

This spot has been here a long time, decade or so? I try to stop by more often to support this tiny vegan shop. The owner lady is this nice Taiwanese lady who drags her retired and reluctant husband to work every day. Poor guy, great health and food but so ready to die. LOL. Anyway, the food is enjoyable. I mainly order the noodle dishes as I can make everything else myself easily. It's nice to kick it here with my dog and a book in the post lunch quiet.

SERVICE- located in a large shopping complex near Ranch 99 - plenty of parking though lot can get full because of other stores- very small interior with space for 10-15 diners- looks more like a coffee shop set up than a restaurant- restroom available- seemed like only one person was working in the kitchen and the cashier standMENU- Asian inspired appetizers, rice plates, and American entrees- all vegan- average price ($17 per entree)FOOD- happiness over rice (4/10): broccoli, bell pepper, onion, pineapple, and vegan soy chunks simmered in a sweet and sour sauce with a side of brown rice. From the pictures this looked very colorful and appetizing. However I was not a huge fan of it once we got it. The broccoli was just barely cooked and there was a lot of onion. The sauce was too sweet and not enough spice or sourness. WOULD I GO BACK?Probably not as the food or ambience was not spectacular.

This is one of my favorite vegan restaurants in the south bay. Not only is this the closest all vegan restaurant to San Jose Airport, but it also has an amazing variety of foods, from ice cream to bubble tea to entree and appetizers.I am always amazed to see the couple who manage and operate this store also make and bake so many variety of dishes. The food is delicious and the lady in charge (I think her name is Charlene) is very sweet and always does her best to accommodate our requests.This is a small place with maybe seating for 10 or so people indoors and some more outdoors. You can usually find seats. (I brought my coworkers once and they enjoyed the food as well).I also appreciate that the restaurant uses compostable takeout containers and minimizing their use for single use plastic. I think this area can use a little improvement (for instance they can switch to paper carry bags instead of plastic). My usuals in the menu are avocado rolls (this is too good especially with the sauce), the corn soup, mango tea and pesto pasta. I have tried a lot of items on the menu and I can't say that I have gone wrong with any of them. I love supporting vegan small restaurants around the bay and I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the south bay.

Amazing food!! So many options! Very friendly staff too!! Pet friendly. Actually very pet friendly. Can't wait to go back!!!

Discovered a delightful vegan eatery in San Jose! After enjoying Lee's vegetarian sandwiches for the past two days, I was craving something different to tantalize my palate. This new spot offers flavors that I was looking for at the time.I ordered the Passion fruit without sugar, without the green tea, little ice and double topping. It was refreshing and light ....though i ordered it without sugar it was still quite sweet. So if you are looking for options, doesn't hurt to try this place and let me know how you like it!

Just came in for an avocado smoothie. Texture and consistency was good. Cost was $9.02 after taxes. Service was fast. The place is a bit small for dine in but there was a party of two already eating inside during lunch hour. If I'm ever craving another avocado smoothie, I'll consider this place again since it's walking distance for me.

It's a little bit small and utilitarian in appearance, but Happiness Cafe is a tasty place to get a vegan meal! My husband and I stop in every so often when we happen to shop at the 99 Ranch next to it (which sadly isn't that often since we usually go to the one in Milpitas). It shares a lot of decorative choices with the Loving Hut franchise, but has a little different of a menu. I'm a fan of the noodle soups and my husband really likes the Sunny Burger, although we've both liked everything we've gotten there.They also have boba, but I do find their drinks on the sweet side and sometimes the boba is a little too soft for my tastes, but it's understandable that they aren't going to have the same level of customization and such as a place that only does boba. In terms of a restaurant that does boba, it's decent, I'm just spoiled by the plethora of boba shops in this area. I haven't tried the ice cream or cakes yet, either.Overall, I really like Happiness Cafe, I just wish it was closer to me!

I've been to this spot a few times over the years and have always had a great experience! The woman who runs it is so sweet and does a great job. A few of my favs are the pesto pasta, avocado rolls, and tiramisu. I will make a better effort to stop by more often for great vegan food!

I was first customer today :) the woman who runs the shop is the sweetest ever! She gave me extra boba for free and was incredibly sweet when she brought me my food. The food was soooo good too! I tried a new menu item too, the ham and onion pancake, and I ate it so quick I didn't even get a good photo lol. Definitely a must try if you like vegan food or even if you don't! It's delicious either way!! support this local shop!!!!
