Golden Buddha Chinese Restaurant

Date: Thursday, December 7th, 2023Meal: Dinner Pickup / Takeout for 3 peopleTime Picked Up: around 8pmI did not place this order so I have no idea if the hubby's brother went there and ordered in person or called it in. All I know is he came back with a huge box of food.We each got a Combination Plate: all with Egg Roll Original. All Plates came with Sweet and Sour Pork, Pork Fried Rice, plus one chosen item. For the three plates, we got one with Mongolian Beef and two with Broccoli with Beef. I'm not sure how much the plates were, but if the menus I found are correct, it was $19.99 each. The hubby's bro also wanted Mu Shu Pork, so we also got an order of that as well. From the menu I found, it comes with 4 pancakes and is $19.99.The good? The portions are gigantic! It took me 3-4 meals to finish a combo plate. Also, the egg roll? Huge! (Yes, bring on the #twss jokes!) Unfortunately taste wise, everything was a little lacking. The egg roll had too much batter was more reminiscent of a chimichanga. The broccoli beef was standard. As was the fried rice. Tho I wish the combo came with something other than sweet and sour pork as that is one of my least favorite chinese dishes. I didn't grow up eating moo shu pork so I can't comment on how it should taste, but it was basically mush of random flavors. And the pancakes were tortillas which I found odd. (The bro in law actually hates this dish and wanted to throw it away.) I have hot chili oil at home, so I went thru a lot of it to make all the food appeal to my palate. (I grew up eating mostly canto chinese food.)A good option is you need to feed a big family and just want some Chinese food. A few combo plates will do it. But if you want more distinct flavors, I'd probably check out another spot.

Recently called to order food as takeout. The price was $210 for 8 items. I thought it was a mistake so I asked him to read out the order. The price was correct. I did not order anything special, just basic Chinese American food. I cancel my order. They were very nice about it. I know that everything is expensive now but that was outrageous.

Good is amazing... I've been going there for years. All their plates are amazing -anything you try you will enjoy! You will definitely have leftovers. Their portions are great size. Waitress is always on point with you order. She makes sure it's to your liking. The environment is also amazing the owner is so cool & friendly.

Our dinner lat night was fantastic! We group of 10 and we arrived at 7pm and they accommodated us very quickly. We ordered the family dinner B , 2 Wor Ton Soups bowls it was so good full of tasty wonton and tender sliced chicken, our waitress and one if the owner tended to our table bringing oolong tea all night long part of our family was late in arriving at closing time and they were very considerate and stayed wayway past their close time..it was such pleasure to have the family reminisce coming to eat as kids and eating their favorite foods since our kids are in their 50s now the Golden Buddha is Evergreen .Gem..during covid it was only take out until a couple of months ago so celebrating our Chinese New Year 2025 in house was the highlight!!Thank you for not giving up and opening up your great food to our East San Jose/ Evergreen again..

I ordered online- two regular entries and the total as per their website should have been $17. Taxes would probably take it to $22/23. I was surprised to see a bill of $54. When I asked the owner, he just laughed and said those prices are 10 years old. They have not updated their website.I did not bother to check prices while ordering assuming that they would have true prices on their website. Apparently not. The food was just ok. It was comparable to other places that sell the same quality for half the price.

Last night, a friend and I ordered takeout food from Golden Buddha restaurant Chinese food. We ordered online. The prices seemed normal when I went to pick it up. It was $96 for three entrées. I got ripped off and the food sucked. I regret going that I didn't refuse the food. They are ripping people off and we are enabling to keep doing this to our community. What can we do to shut them down? If you like terrible food at high prices

Too expensive for me/Food was delicious. You decide.My husband was furious and I feel stupid not asking the price when we ordered takeout. I ordered soup, 2 entrees with meat, rice, chow mein and 2 orders of egg rolls and it was over $159.86. What in the world? I saw many copies of the menu online and saw nothing that indicated these prices. My son went to pick up and had no idea, I was a fool not to ask over the phone but since I saw the menu on their website I was not worried, so he signed the slip. S*&t his the fan a bit when he got home and we saw the prices. According to the menu it should have been around $46.00 plus tax. Prices are up, but quadrupled seems a bit excessive and they did not tell me the price over the phone? Ok, I didn't finish posting the above review last night. I'm going to add now that the food was great. I'll never pay that much money for take-out again, and they really need to give you the price on the phone when you order take-out, BUT the food was very tasty and portions that needed tape to keep the boxes closed - quality meat and produce, tasty sauces, crispy eggs rolls and orange chicken. If you can afford, highly recommend.I blame it on Bidenomics, I'm sure they are just trying to deal with the cost of ingredients, rent, utilities, just like their customers like me are.

My mother and I have been going here for years! It's a family owned business and the food is amazing! Highly recommend

All good. Sweet and sour is house made and is actually sweet and sour. Wontons are very plump and delicious. Really good dishes, and sit down is like going to old Chinatown S.F. It's a little pricey but huge portions that delight.
