Came to patron places on the wharf. Stopped by for a late lunch. Enjoyed the bread basket, fried Calamari, and clam chowder in a bread bowl. Our waitress Veronica was very kind. We were initially seated by a loud guest and she was kind enough to allow us to switch tables, even if it meant that she couldn't serve us.The bread basket was a great start but the star was the Fried Calamari. Lightly breaded not greasy and fresh. Highly recommend it and the portion was very generous. The clam chowder was also tasty and who could go wrong by having it in a sourdough bread bowl. Hard to believe the other reviews, but we truly enjoyed our lunch with great food, amazing view and attentive staff such as Veronica.

Stopped in for an early dinner with my cousin today. I try to visit once a year and it has been a while since I've eaten here. The restaurant was fairly empty so we were immediately seated at nice table with an ocean view. I know it was closed for a long time because a fire but they did a real nice job remodeling. I normally go for the ciopino when we dine here but I broke with tradition today and decided to try the halibut fish and chips. I normally stay away from this at restaurants because they normally do a beer batter. However, they use a panko crust here. It came with a side of fries and coleslaw. My cousin had seafood croquette served on a bed of risotto. My fish and chips were phenomenal! The flavor was absolutely wonderful. The coleslaw was very tasty and the fries were cooked very well. My cousin enjoyed her dish as well. Our server, Susan, was very attentive and provided wonderful service.

(+): waiting time of 20min for a Saturday evening; quality of the fish; menu options; lobster roll was decently great(-): clam chowder bread could use less salt (and a touch of pepper instead); the bread would be better if it was layered with garlic butter first; the sugar layer on the crème brûlée could be thinner (too thick and it makes the bite overly sweet which destroys the custard texture- it was thick in the middle of the dish & easily remediated if the sugar layer was tilted all around before torching)

The wharf is open! I went to the sunny, beautifully modern Firefish Grill. The view of the lighthouse and West Cliff Drive is stunning. The food presentation and taste were a whole other enjoyable experience. Evan gave outstanding service!

For a quick lunch on the Santa Cruz Wharf, we stopped in at Firefish Grill to enjoy the crisp air showing early signs of Spring. We sat next to a window overlooking the Monterey Bay and enjoyed seeing sea lions and seagulls. Our waiter gave us recommendations that the oysters that day were great, much to our satisfaction. The clam chowder was flavorful and had chunks of clam and potatoes in it. The jambalaya pasta was great, reminiscent of my visits to the French Quarter. I do wish that the pasta had a little more spice with chili flakes added, but the flavor was spot on for Cajun food.

Good food and great service! We were on the wharf and wanted something for dinner. Obviously we were looking for seafood. Places we wanted had a wait, so we decided on Firefish. The menu was posted outside their restaurant and helped make sure there was something we wanted to eat. The inside feels a little more up scale but it was actually pretty casual. We were seated quickly and loved the view outside. We came at dinner time so you could see the ocean and sun slowly setting. We decided on the Seafood Rockefeller, crab cake dinner, and kids fish and chips. Prices were a little higher but comparable to the other restaurants. The adult meals came with a side and veggies. Portions were pretty big. I was surprised how big the crab cakes were and tasted really great. It wasn't dried out and a had a little spice to it. The risotto was creamy and cheesy. The kids fish and chips was huge, more than enough for our kids. The breading was more of a panko than a batter which was unexpected but still yummy. The steamed veggies were nice. I do wish they served a bread basket or something with it. Did have one hiccup where the price of the kids fish and chips differed from the menu. Not a huge difference but I would have made a different selection had I known.

Fire Fish Grill on the Santa Cruz Pier is a great choice for dinner! From the impeccable service to the mouthwatering dishes and refreshing drinks, every aspect of our dining experience was top-notch. Plus, the beautiful view of the water added an extra touch of magic to our meal. The clam chowder was a standout - creamy with perfectly chopped clams, it was a seafood lover's dream. The Fisherman's Pasta was cheesy and packed with an abundance of seafood, while the Crab Louie salad was fresh and invigorating.Generous portions across all dishes ensured we left satisfied, and the crispy fries with delicious ranch dressing were the perfect accompaniment. Fire Fish Grill is a true culinary delight that guarantees a memorable dining experience amidst a stunning seaside backdrop.

Good food and good service. Received our credit card statement and we were overcharged by $14. We had to dispute it with our carrier to have the excess charges removed. Why did they do that to us?
