plates of food on a table
This is what is posted on the door of Fiesta Del Mar (Castro). It's basically telling us to enter Agave Mexican Bistro - AND EAT THERE TOO.

Loves coming here when it was open pre-covid. Now I get my takeout from agave/fiesta. The tortilla soup isn't the same, but everything else is and great portions. Always busy when I go in for an order, even in the pandemic. Very glad these guys have managed to stay in Mountain View through all of the rent/landlords/land grabs/ ect. Amazing enchiladas suiza... amazing milenesa(arrachera or pollo). Great tequila selection. Great service.

SYNOPSIS: To start off - I'm not entirely sure if this is a review of Fiesta Del Mar OR Agave Mexican Bistro. I was actually TRYING to eat at Fiesta Del Mar. Allow me to explain... This is my first time trying this Fiesta Del Mar location since it moved from Shoreline. I walked up to the address and on the door it showed a sign that said "Please enter through our main entrance at 194 Castro" See photo I posted. I walked two doors down and it was "Agave Mexican Bistro". I hesitantly walked in and I asked to be seated in Fiesta Del Mar. The guy said, "Same thing." I said, "I want to be seated at Fiesta Del Mar, isn't this Agave Mexican Bistro?" He yelled, "SAME THING!!!" I said OK and sat at the table he pointed at. I was presented with a menu that said, "Agave Mexican Bistro" on the top with small print that said "Fiesta Del Mar" beneath it. It's NOT the same menu as Fiesta Del Mar. Nor is it the same taste. The restaurant was not busy, but we were pretty much dismissed until we asked for something. The food was a disappointment (except the rice - it was yummy). So why a 1 star? The confusion about what restaurant I'm actually eating at is a huge chip off a decent rating. Food was MEH. Service was BAD. Will I return? NO, a resounding NOOOOOOOO...PORTIONS: AverageMY ORDER: Enjococado Chicken Burrito, Side of rice and refried beansPRICE POINT:Enjococado Burrito, Side of rice and refried beans - $13.95SERVICE:1 Star - Didn't refill water until asked several times and didn't come back to ask if we needed anything else. Took a while to order, the food took too long to come out (15 min - too long for a Mexican Restaurant which usually just microwave or bakes their plates before serving).AMBIANCE/RESTROOMS:Clean, nicely furnished, upscale Mexican RestaurantPROS: The Enjococado sauce (Old Grandmother's recipe) tasted OK. They used white meat chicken which is my preference. The rice was DELICIOUS. Best Spanish Rice I've ever had! Clean, nicely furnished, upscale Mexican Restaurant. CONS: The refried beans tasted extremely watered down. Literally, it was like soup. I tried adding salt to it, but it didn't help at all. It just made it taste like salt water. Disgusting.

Let me start by saying that this place has the best chips with salsa, but only when the chips are freshly made. When they are fresh the chips are pure heaven. When they are not fresh they're just ok, still tasty though. The burritos are overpriced, as are the quesadillas and just about everything on the menu..but I guess here you are paying more for the nice restaurant/ambience. If you want cheap and ok restaurant there is a place down the street on Dana which is pretty tasty too. They give you three salsas with the chips. The red ones are my favorite.Their margaritas are not that great sadly. The strawberry one tastes like medicine. The house margarita is good though. They are both strong so get ready!

Oh man this place never disappoints! Love the chicken tortilla soup! It's hearty and flavorful. Also the enchiladas with verde sauce, super tangy and delicious. The fajitas are tasty and come with a bunch of veggies along with the meat, which is really refreshing. margaritas come by the pitcher and hit the spot. Not sure what else you could ask for in a Mexican spot!

Great food! Love their chimichangas and margaritas! They also have outdoor dining during the pandemic. I have been coming there for years and they almost always do a great job with the service as well. Hope to continue going there both during and after the pandemic is over!
