Everything was so good. We had the XLB, fried noodles, and green beans. Contrary to the restaurant name, these items were not spicy. The restaurant was decorated elegantly. There's a private corner for a large party.

Been wanting to try this place for a long time. Wifey and I met up a friend who started working in Pleasanton for a Tuesday night dinner. Got distracted and forgot to take photos of the food haha. noOb mistake. We ended up ordering the boiled fish with bean sprouts in hot chili oil, Shanghai-style deep-fried noodles, and cumin beef. The boiled fish was really good but lacked the numbing spiciness I was expecting. The Shanghai-style deep-fried noodles were okay. Think deep-fried chow mein noodles but with the texture of funnel cake topped with corn starchy toppings that made the noodles soggy. Meh.Lastly was the cumin beef. I liked this dish the most. Strongly seasoned beef with onions and peppers.Despite being a slow Tuesday with only two other tables, service was another miss. I had to ask for rice several times. But what really upset me was that I had to ask for ice water at least 5 times. I mean, when you name a restaurant Fiery Shanghai, the customers would liked to have some water to cool down the "fire".Speaking of fires, maybe the workers were trained by the City of Los Angeles because they acted like there was no water. I literally had to walk to the register and ask for ice water. At the end of the day the food was okay. Fiery Shanghai. Not as "hot" as I thought.* What's with the strange ass interior decoration that makes each table look like a bed frame? When I was paying, I had this hilarious interaction.Worker: Where you from?Me: Livermore Worker: Where you born?Me: Glendale. Oh... I'm Korean lol. Bye.

We went on Christmas evening; it was busy, but we got seated quickly. The waiters were very friendly, and even when the service was slow since the restaurant was packed, they apologized for it.The food was on point; whatever we ordered tasted great, and the portions were sufficient for two.The ambiance was good, unlike other Chinese restaurants we have seen in Pleasanton. This is our second favorite after Andy & Yu. The management is very friendly--special mention of that. We will surely visit again to try other dishes when it's less crowded.

Each dish complemented the others beautifully. The Kung Pao chicken was the star of the meal, while the Special Shanghai fried noodles were warm and comforting--perfect for the cold weather. The Shanghai wonton soup was delightful, and the red bean pancake dessert had the ideal balance of crispiness and sweetness. The pan-fried soup dumplings were a standout, featuring perfectly juicy filling and crispy bottoms.Overall, the service was pleasant, and the restaurant's well-designed booths added to the experience!

3.5, rounded up. Getting right into food!Scallion Noodles: 2/5, lacked any flavor unfortunately, texture was good but just oily and salty. Added vinegar to finish.XLB: 4/5, big, lots of soup, good skin texture! Pretty solid with their vinegar.Scallion Pancake: 3.5/5, skeptical at first because it looked small but this was quite flavorful without any sauce. Thicker than expected.Peking Duck two ways: 3/5, the duck is cut right in front of you which was nice. Portions were generous, but the duck itself was okay with the green onion/cucumber/pancake wrap (instead of buns!). The soup had great flavor, but was wayyy too salty. The duck itself is okay.Sweet and sour spare ribs: 4/5, standard, good flavor and tender!Green beans: 4/5, loved the garlic and the spices but some of the beans were pretty limp. Lacked the crunch factor :(Fish with brown sauce: 3.5/5, not a cooked fish girl myself, but was decent according to my table! Tasted homemade and soft, however was not the freshest fish.Service was alright. They gave us the pancakes for the peking duck way ahead of time so they got cold, and we had to request a new plate of them which they accommodated for. We also had to wait at the front for a bit even though there were tables open. Kind of pricey, but food was decent. Would come back to try their lunch specials.

We got to the restaurant around 1:30pm. We got seated after 5 minutes. It was ok on a busy day. But it took almost 20 mints before we can order anything. Half way through the meal, no water or tea was served. The tastes of the dishes were not good at all. Either too salty or too sweet. At the end of the meal, there was a 22% MANDATORY SERVICE CHARGE for a party of 5! Please go somewhere else with better service and more smiles

My husband and I met my son and daughter in-law for a late lunch at this place. They brought their dog. Since this place had outside seating it's perfect for a dog. I told the hostess that we need a table outside because we have a dog and she said it's ok we can dine inside, no problem. Once my son's dog barked the staff said we will need to dine outside, so we moved but the outside was not prepared for guests, it was dirty so the staff cleaned a little bit where it is decent to be outside. They were not happy I can tell. Since we already ordered some food we stayed. Otherwise we would have left. We enjoyed the food. My low rating goes to the staff and the cleanliness of the place. Also it took awhile before we got our food and one of the dish never came so I cancelled it. And because we were seated outside, no one came to check on how we were doing or if we need more tea or water. A waitress was rude and not friendly and gave us a snotty look. The look was very unprofessional and did not belong where you greet customers. Also it took awhile before we got our "to go" boxes. Unfortunately, this is my first and last visit at this place!

Really unique interior with a garden-like feel highlighted by mint greens, metal pergolas over many tables, natural light from the large windows. A waitress actually came outside to hawk the restaurant while we were looking at the outside pedestaled menu. She did a really good job in convincing us to come in!Sat down around 2:40pm Midweek after the normal lunch period, lunch special menu over; however the accommodating restaurant allowed us to order off the lunch menu, additionally we were able to order warm soy milk which came in large bowls. We had:- Shanghai Dumplings, 6 to a steamer, did not bust, lots of soup in the dumplings, tasty and steaming hot- Pan Fried Pork Dumplings, hot, crispy bottom, sufficient meat and juicy- Lunch Special of Eggplant with Rice, Veggies, and Tomato based Soup- Warm Soy MilkDecent lunch at reasonable prices. They have a whole Peking Duck prepared two ways for $88 if you're interested.

So good highly recommend (from someone coming from Southern China)!!Was scared in the beginning when I see the restaurant offer both Shanghainese food and Sichuan food (2 very different cuisines), but the Shanghainese choices are good and authentic! My favorites are:Pork with honey sauce: sweet in the Shanghai style! Eat with bunsCrab ricecake: it was a special for the day, a little pricey but definitely cooked with live crab.Service was good, seems like they also do events like birthday parties. Great place to eat after a shopping day at the outlets.

Came by here after outlet shopping! We got the $88 for two duck dishes. We had the crispy roasted duck and made the second dish to salt and pepper! We got to watch the chef live performance in front of us to cut the duck into small pieces and we roll them up with the Chinese tortillas giving to us! They were both yummy! The boiling fish was extremely yummy too! We love spicy so we got the 3x spice level! The pork stomach and chicken soup were very flavorful! We will go back again to try other dishes!
