I and my husband used to go there often or takeout.But some point they changed the chef.Tastes completely different as before.Too salty, too greasy and too sweet ...So we stop going there. Too bad.

One of our all-time favorite Chinese restaurants in the Bay. We have been coming to Edna Ray's since I was a child, and now that I have my own family, we have a whole new generation of loyal customers in attendance! We typically order their Chinese chicken salad and soup to start and then order a combo of veggie and beef dishes. The service is always excellent, and the people are kind and hardworking. They've had a dash of bad luck recently with break-ins and vandalism, which makes me incredibly sad. If you're in the area or have DoorDash, please consider supporting their restaurant by patronizing them!

We used to go to Jade China, but since it's further from us now, we have tried Edna Ray. Food is pretty good and we recently took it to a family party where even though it was the same food, just from a different place, they could tell and said they all really liked it! I will say there was only one time where it seemed to be an "off day" as the salt pepper fish wasn't really up to par, but since then, we don't really have any complaints.

Ordered some food to go and while the food was good, delivery and presentation was terrible. I just say I usually love this place and it never missed, but today must have been an off day. Ordered pot stickers, pork fried rice, mushu pork, honey walnut shrimp, and beef chow fun. Everything was really tasty but when it was delivered by Uber eats some had spilt into the bag and mixed with the other food. I will say we did order Peking Chicken and what we got instead was sweet and sour chicken :(Maybe this is an Uber eats issue so I won't fault Edna ray too much but maybe package it a little more careful and for all this food maybe use 2 bags.

Been coming to this location for years ever since I was little. This has been my on the go for take-out and dine in. I would say is one of San Jose's hidden Gem. what we order:-fried rice 5/5-orange chicken 5/5-sweet and sour pork 3/5 (im not a big fan)-won ton soup 3/5- honey walnut shrimp 5/5- wonton with cream cheese 5/5-tempura shrimp 5/5Service was fast and they were very friendly.

Recent new owner/management/chef aren't cutting it. Lunch specials now only come with/ either soup or salad, unlike both before. Prices went up at least $2 of course. The nice gal serving before is replaced by an emotionless, uncourteous staff who exerts no enthusiasm to interact with customers what so ever. The last straw for me was the simple Mongolian Beef that was inedible be for being too spicy. I literally could only take two bites, mouth was burning & I surrendered. I will not be coming back here again.

This place is for sure a cute whole in the wall. It is out of downtown San Jose. The service was for sure slow and the water tasted a little funky.Why am I giving this five stars? This place serves solid food. The food had great portions for our party of five, perfect salt, meat, and side portions. The pricing was perfect given our budget and the food was spectacular!

Food was good. Very traditional Cantonese fare. I did a delivery order and pricing was in the middle range of what Cantonese Chinese restaurants are charging these days for the same dishes so I would say "reasonably priced."

I have been a long time customer for over 15 years. Being a vegetarian is tricky as several dishes I have ordered at other establishments claim to be vegetarian but end up containing chicken stock, shrimp paste or fish sauce. Edna Ray was always accommodating with my requests of "no chicken stock, oyster or fish sauce" and the food was delicious. Well today when I called to order my usual dish, I was told by a female employee that they couldn't do that. When I mentioned that that's been my order for several years, she said the cook said it's too complicated & that last time was the very last time. When I asked why this was so suddenly decided, she told me she didn't have time to discuss it & hung up on me. I was mortified by her rudeness! I cannot believe the utter disregard of customer service & incredible rudeness of this employee. I will happily give my business elsewhere.
