so if you grew up in san jose, you know THIS is the spot! I've been coming here since I was a kid for dim sum and for Vietnamese weddings. I've been coming here for so long that I recognize the faces of most of the staff and notice when new ones come/go. you know if a dim sum place has a 3 star rating on yelp, you're about to eat good...they still push the carts around here, but if it's not super crowded, the food might not be super fresh/hot. service is mid but let's be honest, what do you expect at dim sum?i always order the har gow, siu mai, shrimp cheung fun, sticky rice, fried shrimp balls, and taro puff wu gok. and of course chrysanthemum tea. even if the food isn't always hot, dynasty always hits for me! will forever be one of my go to dim sums.

I agree with what others said about this being pretty average dim sum. I tried it out with friends on a Saturday. We got there at 10 am when they opened and it was not super busy. Even around 11:30, it wasn't totally full. Which is probably good if you are looking for a place to go on weekends that isn't super full. They do have carts coming around with food. It was nothing super amazing that I hadn't seen elsewhere, a lot of the typical shumai and hargow and whatnot. The food was good, very fresh, but I didn't see anything unique that I haven't seen elsewhere. The parking here is pretty easy because it's a huge complex. Also the restaurant itself is pretty large so it seems like it would be nice for events.

Dynasty Chinese Seafood in located on Story Road/McLaughlin near Vietnam Town. Plenty of parking because the plaza is huge!!! Probably only crowded during weekends AND Lunar New Year. Our extended family have been dining here for years either dinners, Wedding or funeral receptions, etc. This place is huge and perfect for wedding venues.Dim Sum is still served by carts and you can also order via the menu. The dim sum is decent. Though, the selection is smaller but still has all the popular ones. The seafood tanks used to be readily visible and you could bring your toddlers to see. But, it's moved back behind a barrier now. Bummer.

Dynasty was a regular part of our dim sum rotation, buuuut our visit this past MLK weekend wasn't the most pleasant and we're now hesitant to come back. We were immediately seated for a weekend lunch, which was nice, and the carts were attentive and persistent as usual. The food tasted as we expected from our various experiences here. But, upon ordering the green tea and serving ourselves, we were shocked when we realized rat droppings had come out of the tea kettle. We immediately notified our server, and the only thing they did was return with a replacement kettle and new cups. The rest of the time we were there, we continued to eat the rest of the food. But, it felt a little unpleasant knowing that rat droppings were in our tea. I would probably err on the side of caution for future visits, but please make sure you are looking before you eat / drink!

Good ol' Dynasty...this review is only for the Dim Sum because I have only ever been during brunch hours. If you've never been to Dynasty, this is a huge venue where banquets and weddings are often held. (Also attended a wedding here). Usually, this is our go-to dim sum spot with the parental units on weekend mornings. With as many tables as there are, I can't remember there ever being a wait. On the weekends, you can experience the dim sum "cart experience" which can be a bit fun itself as many different dishes come rolling around your table, and you hold your breath that the one you want will get unveiled lol...Have patience, this is a unique, Chinese restaurant tradition that we rarely see anymore. We recently went on a weekday, ordering dim sum off the menu, and it just wasn't the same...BUT, we did get all of our food out immediately, so choose your day wisely! There are many staff members, constantly hovering around and tending to diners, and they speak Vietnamese as well which is helpful for my elderly parents. The food quality itself is above average, obviously not Din Tai Fung status, but for sure 4 stars. In general, a great, satisfying dining experience!

IMHOI'll be honest with you. I had misgivings about coming here after reading mixed reviews about both service and food. I was bringing friends here after a morning event nearby, and they like Chinese food and dim sum. This Chinese girl loves Chinese food and dim sum. I didn't want them or me to be disappointed. We got there around 11:30 a.m. and were seated immediately. (Hostess could benefit from smiling when "greeting" guests, in my opinion. She is the "face" of the restaurant, and she looked glum and bored.) The dining area was already filling up with hungry customers. Past reviews suggest going when they first open for the freshest and hottest foods. I agree. We ordered beef chow fun, gai lan (Chinese broccoli), salt & pepper fish fillet, salt & pepper chicken wings, siu mai, har gow, shrimp rice rolls, and sweet sesame balls. Food came out in a timely manner. Everything was delicious and flavorful! My favorite was the salt & pepper fish fillet which came out hot and crispy, and perfectly seasoned! The dim sum here is pricier than most, so be prepared. I believe they also charge $1.60 pp for tea. The service we received from the waiters was friendly and available. From this visit, I would come back here again.

Been a long while since I've been back here (previous visit like 10+ years ago).I'm not sure where people are getting their dim sum in the Bay Area if not here as many of the popular options are over in MV/PA area. The only other options are things like East Lake, Ocean Delight, Sifu, Koi, which all have their own respective downsides. With that said, came right at open on a weekday so had the freshest options + great service that many of the other reviews seem to have as their biggest issue.Pricing is a bit higher than most other places by a multitude of ~20-30% so definitely keep that in mind. In some cases they do give you a bit more (e.g. 4 pieces of hargow/shumai instead of 3 that some places do).I do enjoy the fact that XL items are only ~$10 and that you can get things like salt and pepper wings or honey walnut shrimp as these are usually entree-items at other places, being 2-3x the price. Sometimes you just want small items with your dim sum and this gives you that opportunity.Quality was great, but again, came at open and was one of the first few there. One thing I do appreciate is the rice paper actually being in a sweet soy sauce versus a regular soy sauce that many other places do.Service again, came at open so there were only a handful of tables, but they were quick to pick up any empty containers and refill waterOverall, I think a solid option with price being the only disadvantage (and potentially quality of service during other times).

We came here to check out the banquet facilities and dinner and on a Monday night, it was pretty quiet at 6:30 pm with only one other table occupied. We asked about the banquet menu and it was typical kind of banquet menu with various prices all ending or starting with an "8" for good luck. We ordered fried rice with crab and egg white, green beans, Peking duck, salt and pepper fish filet and honey walnut prawns. All were good portions and tasty, especially the green beans and Peking duck. The food was good but alittle on the salty side. Service was A-OK. We were told that in order to book the entire second floor, you would have to have at least 300 guests and the banquet room on the first floor you have to have at least 150 guests to book a banquet.

Dynasty used to be the go-to Chinese restaurant for a lot of families. Nowadays, their dinning rooms are empty unless it's dim sum hour or a banquet. My uncles usually pick Dynasty for their birthday dinners because of the convenient location. And I wish everyone was willing to drive to Milpitas. The service was okay, nothing to complain about. Food, on the other hand was a major letdown. Not very flavorful or noticeable wok hei. I strongly recommend going someplace else for Chinese/Live Seafood.

They offer weekday dimsum from 11am-2pm and idk how recent this is, but they bring you a paper for you to mark your items for ordering and then they bring your dishes out. I've been going here since they've opened - baaaack in the day - and only recently is this a thing. I love the change though! Makes it very efficient:
