My husband and I tried out Dumpling Depot. We tried an assortment of dishes- everything was good. The green onion pancake was my favorite- really crispy, good flavor, generous portion. The stir- fry pea sprouts as well as the stir fry noodles had great flavor. The Xiao long bao juicy. Service was efficient and good.

This is a small place in a strip mall. I chose to go here because it had lots of veggie options. Capacity was at max 50% throughout our dinner on a weeknight. Overall food was nice but didn't wow me.salt and pepper tofu 4/5 - loved the texture but a little more flavor would be nice pea shoot with garlic 5/5 - this was the most expensive thing we ordered at 17 dollars, and one of the most expensive things on the menu. I love pea shoot in general though pretty hard to mess upmapo tofu 3.5/5 - mixed feelings from friends on this one, overall I liked the flavor but the slurry it was in was kinda not a good texture . Honestly wouldn't mind getting again but not my favorite green onion pancake 5/5 - hard to mess up but it was good and really crispy beijing black bean paste noodle vegetarian 3/5 - sauce was good, I like that there was tofu and cucumber but the noodles themselves were really starchy and heavy. probably would not get againegg and chive dumplings 2/5 -not that much flavor, thick dumpling wrapper vegan dumpling 2/5 - same as above Overall I wouldn't go out of my way to come back, I feel like the things I liked here I could get elsewhere for a bit better. Prices here were very good though and service was nice.

Came here for lunch on a weekday and I thought it was alright, but wouldn't go out of my way to come here. The best thing that I had on the menu was the beef pancake. The XLB had no flavor and tasted like a normal dumpling which also didn't come with ginger but they did have the sauces on the table and the braised beef noodle soup was okay. I like how they serve you tea right away rather than having to ask for it after they bring around water. ~~Parking: Located at the end of a strip mall, but the rest of the strip mall seems pretty dead so I doubt you'd ever have issues finding parking. ~~Service: Okay. You're allowed to choose your own seat depending on how many people are in your party, you order on your phone using the QR code at your table, they bring you the food, and then they just come around when you pay but they don't give you a receipt. ~~Worst Part: How cold it was inside the restaurant. Seemed like the windows were single-pane and they didn't seem to have the heat on so bring a thick jacket if you're coming here when it's cold. ~~Tips: If you're going to come here, get the beef pancake. ~~Return: I would pick up the beef pancake to go.

Tiny little hole-in-the-wall just outside of downtown Sunnyvale. Though I live nearby, I hadn't heard of it until a Yelp recommendation. So I ordered a small variety of things in takeout. All except the steamed rice came in well-sealed plastic containers instead of the usual leaky cardboard boxes. The dumplings: soft, steamed, very thick and plain flour, so they're best eaten with a generous dollop of the hot sauce that comes with. But the filling is substantial and tastes of the meat it is. I also tried one stir-fry dish, a beef with scallions that was also soft, plain, but tasty, and chicken winglets with cumin, which were very lightly fried, quite tasty though not of cumin. As neighborhood convenience Chinese it was quite satisfactory.

Freshly made dumplings. Not pot stickers, not wonton. They are sealed on both sides and made with a finely milled flour similar to 00 pizza flour. This produces a tender bite which you can't replicate at home with normal AP flour. Can't get the tender texture from a frozen costco product and until recently no restaurants made this type of northern chinese dumpling This restaurant was the first to introduce authentic freshly made dumplings to sunnyvale 10+ years ago. There are now many dumpling restaurants. There are some mega owners who have multiple outlets under different names and some chains from China w stores here aside from DTF. They sell Chinese salads like celery/black fungus in a light oil, chinese black vinegar sauce. Like a Chinese version of a balsamic vinagrette. No added sugar. Traditionally raw salads aren't a part of Chinese cuisine unlike western cuisine. Use of human feces on farms for fertilizer prevented adoption of raw salads as health measure. Celery and black fungus are blanched. Self order on cell phone. Can hear the beep once the order is placed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emmv1KxP7kE

Example of a why you shouldn't underestimate a hole in the wall restaurant. 4 stars for the food. Small divey vibe but good chili wonton, aka on their menu as also Sichuan Spicy Pork and Shrimp Wonton. Reasonable price for $11.95 for 12 wontons per order. Chili oil sauce is not overly spicy, just a little kick to add flavor. The wonton skin was in good proportion to the filling, thin enough that it's not doughy. The filling was good; you can taste the pork and its seasoning vs fillers. The Crab and Pork XLB definitely used real crab meat. Strong crab flavor that you notice the crab taste at first bite. The soup in the dumpling was just ok. Same as the wonton, good filling to wrapping ratio. Dumpling was not too doughy. This cost more at 6 pieces for $9.95.Good place for vegetarians. The Vegetarian Dumplings was the surprise. No meat but really tasty, so good. Vegetable chow mein had well seasoned noodles; soy flavor and had the smoky taste of wok hei. The dining area can use some sprucing up or scrubbing to brighten the small place and bring in some light. Great for to go orders. Quick service.

Solid, no frills, affordable. This is a hole-in-the-wall dumpling shop but surprisingly still has plenty of seating and good service. The food comes out pretty fast and hot! I really like their beef noodle soup. It's good and consistent. They are slightly cheaper than nearby Top Dumpling.
