Whenever I walk by this bar, there is usually a super long line so I took advantage of the no line on a Saturday around 8:00pm. We were seated and loved the interior theme as they had it all decorated for Valentines Day which was about two weeks ago. They had an entire designated menu that was Valentines themed that they were running for the entire month. I know they often do specific drink menus and decorate for different themes such as Christmas and St Patty's, so it was nice experiencing it.Overall, the drinks were decent. Unfortunately forgot what we ordered but it was good overall, no complaints. Their food menu looked good although we didn't get a chance to try it so will have to be back!Servers were very nice and I can see why there's always a line as the inside isn't too big. However I like that they have a huge patio section with a fireplace. Hoping to be back so I can try the food and maybe sit outside. I'd recommend this place when it's not too busy :)

Came in on a Saturday night. It was still early in the evening and the crowd was starting to gather. Walked up to the booth and we were greeted by the hostess and she seemed pretty friendly and polite . We were asked if we had a reservation which to I answered, no. Then she asked how many and I said 2. She took a drink menu and escorted us inside and sat up at a center table near the bar. Ambience was loud and festive with it being their last day for their Valentine's Day drink menu. They were all decked out with hearts and gestures of love throughout the place and they even had a kissing booth, lol. It was a fun experience. Looked the menu over and went with the HEARTBREAKER $17denizen 5 year rum, coconut cream, raspberry, pineapple, orange, limeIOVEMAKER $12coconut cream, raspberry, pineapple, orange, lime(non-alcoholic) but added some liqueur for a kick Drinks were pretty good, however, we passed on the food and appetizers. Will definitely have to return for the next holiday themed menu.

DR. SCAM is the perfect example of why I don't go out: Overpriced drinks and they know they are overpriced because they don't show prices on the menu. The are fees, they charge for ice and in this case they're stealing from their own customers by adding $4 to the bill just because.

Tiki Time! Service: upon arrival the staff is very friendly and helpful. Every server is wearing Hawaiian style clothing, easy to spot staff. They seat you and give the drink special menu and regular menu. It was quite busy but they took our order promptly. The wait for the drinks did take quite a while. Drinks: Lots of Ice....Heartbreaker: very tasty, more coconut and pineapple flavor than raspberry. Not very strong, watered down from the ice. Shot to the Heart: this probably was the best drink. It gives martini vibes. Just enough flavor and alcohol. Probably because of no ice.Mad Love: second best drink, lots of flavor but again too much ice not enough alcohol. Lovemaker: nonalcoholic, good but again lots of ice. Ambiance: Cute tiki style bar that is very well decorated. The theme for February was Valentine's which they do for the whole month. On the exterior they have heart light projected display. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor they have a tented area with fire pits and a few heat lamps. It's well lit with outdoor lighting. The seating in the tent is lounge outdoor couch seats. On the side seating its tables with fire pits to each tables back. This is where we sat and cold due to a breezy night. There is outdoor tiki style music, but very hard to hear and we were right next to the speaker.Indoor it was very cute with heart decorations throughout the bar. Nice table spots and private booth seating. The bar had seating as well. Unfortunately everything was reserved. So make a reservation early. I am interested in going back but sitting inside. I think some kind of entertainment would make this a 5 star for me. Or some more hearing lamps.

This place was very lively and had plenty of seating outdoors. The inside had a tiki vibe going on. I loved the Valentine's themed hearts decor. My friends and I were able to snag a booth. I like how there are more seats here than some other bars in the area. The drink selections seem to have a lot of coconut based. I asked the bartender which one was the sweetest. He recommended the Siren shore and Sidewinder's Fang. That's what my friend and I ended up getting. Another friend ordered a Mai Tai and boy was the drinks strong! My Siren Shore was slightly easier to drink than the other two. I have yet to find a drink I like from here though. So strong and not sweet if that's what you're into.

Food was below average as well as the drinks. Drinks were sugary and seemed like colored syrups were added and not well made. Ambiance was cute and had a tiki bar feel to it.

Dr. Funk is a great themed bar for a night out that offers a pretty large menu and strong drinks. On a Saturday night Dr funk was honestly pretty packed. We were able to snag a reservation for our larger party which definitely saved us a wait and got our table immediately. Definitely recommend doing that if you have a large party! For food we ordered a fried rice, fried chicken sandwich and Hawaiian ribs. I would say the food is pretty pricey and overall tasted mid. I would recommend going to a dedicated restaurant rather than dining here. The drinks here though are what earned this place my 4 star rating. They have a huge menu that is true to a traditional tiki bar and they have some house special drinks that are unique. Their menu has markings for how strong a drink is which comes in handy. All the drinks we got were great and felt worth the price. The service here is amazing! Our server was super friendly, checked in with us often, and gave drink recommendations. When the music was way too loud and was hurting all of our ears and preventing us from having a convo they were more than happy to turn the volume down in the area we were sitting. This made the experience way more enjoyable. The bathroom is shared with the bar next door. Not the most cleanly but not disgusting either. There is a parking garage across from the restaurant that offers 90 min free. But street parking is also free after 6pm. Overall I would come back for the drinks and ambience!

I've been here a few times over the course of the past year it's easily the best tiki bar in the area! The vibes are great (especially when they went full Grinch during the holidays), the service is wonderful, and their food is surprisingly very good! I've tried their curry, which I had very low hopes for considering its a primarily a bar, but it was so yummy! I also love that their servers are HONEST. For instance, when I tried to order a drink, my server shared their honest review of it and gave me alternative recommendations. I ended up liking the recommendations soooo much more! The only thing you should be aware of is that this place can be terrible during Sharks game. There is tons of traffic getting into the area, the San Pedro lot does not validate on game days, and there is no happy hour when a game is going on. I'm sure its a great place to watch the game/pregame before heading to the stadium but if you're not interested in that, its best to avoid coming on the same day as a Sharks game!

Im super behind on this one but I couldn't forget about this amazing Tiki Bar!We came around Halloween on a whim and I was super impressed with the decor. Everything was Beetlejuice themed! If you've seen the movies then I'm sure you'd recognize at least one reference. My favorite were the pinstripe sandworms. The drinks hers are always tasty. This particular day I ordered the You're Dead which taste like if I drunk myself to a stupor. Very boozy but that's definitely what I wanted at the time. My go to at this place is the Phoenix Rising. If you are a Mezcal lover, this will be your new favorite drink. It comes over to your table just like its name sake. On fire. But I think it's perfect because of how smoky the Mezcal in the drink. But of course it wouldn't be a tiki drink if it didn't also have the coconut and pineapple flavors in it. On the finish you'll get a little bit off the Aperol which will give it a little bitterness and complexity to the cocktail. A little funk if you will. One of the things I love the most about Dr. Funk is that they have really good food. Not all Tiki Bars serve food, which is dangerous when you think how strong the drinks usually are. Maybe if I had some food in my stomach, I'd feel more comfortable about ordering an extra drink ya know? Which also means more money for the establishment. Everyone wins! But anyways. We ordered the Chicken Wings and the Curry Fries. Highly recommend both. The Chicken Wings had good flavor while being very crispy. With the fries I enjoyed the fact that they are basically Tikka Masala fries. The Yogurt drizzled on helps make the curry more creamy while also keeping it from being really spicy. Dr. Funk is the full package. Great service. Strong and tasty drinks. A great selection of food. And occasional special menus? I'm not in the San Jose area often but if I am, Dr. Funk is easily my go to bar for a good time.

I've come to Dr. Funk a few different times, usually for the themed/occasion types since they really go all out with the decor and drinks, but they are great year round too! Halloween is always a lot of fun, and this past weekend I came for galentines! It was so beautifully set up, they really did an amazing job with the themed vibes and we enjoyed all of it. Since it was the day after valentines though, all of the inside seating was being used for reservations so we sat outside (I'm not sure if this would be different when it's not valentines weekend). We wanted the inside but the fire was still so cute and cozy and we enjoyed the ambiance. I had asked the waiter if we could get inside seating at all, and we were able to sit at the bar towards the end! Service was so good the whole night, every staff member is attentive and helpful. Highly recommend this place on any regular night but even more for their themed events :) All the valentines drinks were so good! They go from strongest to sweetest so that was a helpful way to make our choices. We got shot to the heart, mad love, and ended with heartbreaker. We decided to get the beignets for dessert which is part of their regular menu - don't miss these! They were so delicious, such yummy and sweet flavors and we really enjoyed the blackberry whipped cream!
