Excellent restaurant! Impeccably clean, comfortable, and modern. Service is wonderful and the food is delicious! My 9 year old daughter is starting to expand her palate and try more Indian food, and she loves this place. We have specifically came to Dawaat twice in the past 1.5 months, and she talks about it often! (I just wish it was a little closer to our home, but it's worth it!) Great naan breads, chicken tikka masala, and palak paneer. We will be back again! Thank you! YUM!!

Hidden gem- great for takeout and dine in. Lots of parking and usually tables available right away. Love how clean and spacious this place is, for a smaller restaurant. Service is fine and they are pretty quick. Favorite things here:*butter chicken - delicious and creamy*naan - fried to perfection *tikka kebab - well seasoned and a kid favorite *samosas - loved the dipping sauce it was served with

I had a good experience taste wise on three items I ordered: Lamb + Chicken + Mushroom Curries. I did a take away order. My only suggestion is please tone down on Salt & please don't introduce sugar into the mushroom curry to balance it out. Otherwise every curry was Fresh & nice flavor too.

Hidden place I discovered the other day, I'll say the butter chicken was a pleasant surprise, although not the best I've ever had, still tasty nonetheless. Service was welcoming and ambiance is basic, nothing too special. It's one of the better places I've had in San Jose, but I'm sure there's something out there that is superior

I've been here twice now and love dining here. Most of the dishes are milder than other Indian restaurants I've been to, so this is a good option for those who dislike or cannot tolerate spicy food. Dawaat also gives very generous portions for a reasonable price. The service is very friendly and helpful! The butter chicken and malai kofta are very good; the sauce/gravy is so flavorful, creamy, and smooth, almost fluffy in consistency. I love the garlic naan here, which is well seasoned and fragrant with a crisp, slightly chewy texture. The samosas are delicious! Fried to order (we could hear the fryer starting up after we sent our order), they are so fresh and crispy without being oily. We also got a mango lassi and chai, and both were great!

Food 2/5Service 0/5Ambiance 0/5 Tldr: go here if you want to eat mediocre food with loud construction noises happening right next to you as you dine. We decided to stop by here for dinner on Sunday evening as this restaurant is conveniently located near to an Indian store. When we entered there was only one other couple dinning in. We were quickly seated and were given a high chair for our baby as requested. At this point we noticed that there was a very loud construction going on at the main counter right next to the dinning space. The noise scared our baby and we asked if they will be able to stop the construction till we eat. They said yes but continued with the construction. At this point we started packing and expressed that we cannot dine with loud construction noises next to our table with the baby. They said they are stopping and asked us to be seated and order. They did stop the construction while taking the order. As soon as our food arrived they started with the loud banging hammer etc again. We were put in such a position where we all were mid meal so leaving half way was difficult. At this point we thought there is no point in continuing to request to stop the construction as despite previous requests and them assuring they won't they still continued to work loudly. They were pulling apart plywood etc so close our table that the construction material could have easily even flown into our meal or hurt us. I don't know if this is even legal. They should not have been open to public if they had construction going on in the restaurant. Please see the photo attached of the construction in the space as we dined. So disappointed in their lack of care for the customer. The food was mediocre at best. We ate the malai kofta and tandoori naan and roti. Food was meh. Pretty bland and nothing to return for.

We discovered this restaurant by an ad in the newspaper. It looked intriguing, so we had dinner there. We are so glad that we did. We were impressed with the food's taste and the friendliness of the staff. Each of the main dishes comes with rice. Naan and Raita are an additional charge. We had Lamb Curry ($18.99) and Butter Chicken ($17.99). Both were delicious! We also had a side of Garlic Naan ($2.99) and Raita ($1.99). The Butter Chicken was the best we have had in many years. The decor was basic and nice. We enjoyed the food so much that I returned here a few days later to get some take-out. Another order of Butter Chicken (just as delicious the second time!) and Mushroom Masala ($13.99) which was great. The Mushroom Masala consisted of mushrooms in a thick tasty sauce -- fantastic! We are so glad that we saw that advertisement. We now have a place to get great Indian food. We will be back.

Worse customer service. Restaurant is open until 9:15. We went at 8:35, they said kitchen is getting closed and asked us to hurry. We felt weird as they reminded multiple times and literally waiting for us to leave after 9.Food was average.
