I've been meaning to try here for years and I am so happy to finally get the chance to. Being rated one of the best curries in the bay, I had to try.The place is super cute, a little small but lots of tables. We came on a Sunday at noon and were immediately seated! The servers were all so cheerful and helped us whenever we called using the button on the side.We placed our order and it came out after ten minutes. This curry was delicious!! One of the best I have ever had. I love how savory and thick the curry was. The katsu was so juicy and crispy, it was perfect. The serving side was very generous, and I had such a great meal. I definitely would go again and try the other dishes!

I think the experience would have been better if the food came in slight hot, but it was barely warm. It would've enhanced the flavors more. Got cold even faster. The five choices of spice is nice for all to choose their level. The service is top notch! Checked in on us often. Very welcoming and appreciative. Very kind too and had smiles on their faces. The place was cute, clean and comfy!

Plenty of parking nearby (meters) and comfortable cushion seating make for a relaxed dining experience. The restaurant is brightly lit, and I was welcomed instantly by the staff and seated quickly. The dine-in menu is simple, and each table has a call button for assistance if needed--a convenient touch.I ordered the classic signature katsu curry with pork loin, and it was fantastic. The pork was incredibly juicy, tender, and full of flavor--no knife needed to cut through it! The curry itself isn't the typical S&B powder base you find at so many places; it's thicker, richer, and has a depth of flavor that stands out. I've tried plenty of Japanese curry spots, both chains and mom-and-pop shops, and too many rely on the basic S&B mix. This was on another level. The potato salad and fukujin pickles balanced the dish perfectly, adding a nice contrast.I also tried the karaage chicken side, and it felt like such a great deal. Made with chicken thighs, the batter was thin and crispy, chicken pieces big and juicy, and the portion was generous for the price. The corn potage soup was another highlight--piping hot, creamy, and full of flavor, with just the right amount of croutons for texture. If it hadn't been so hot, I probably would've downed the whole thing in one go.Service was spectacular. Even with a packed house, the server made sure I was well taken care of and did so with a smile throughout. I'll definitely be back whenever I'm in town for my thrifting runs!

The best Japanese curry in the Bay Area, I feel like I'm transported to Japan. I wish they didn't charge for extra pickles though.

I had some time to spare before my NOC shift and I wanted to grab some grub so here I am.I ordered the signature katsu curry w/chicken cutlet. The curry has very delicious and complex flavors. It paired really well the chicken cutlet. The portion sizes are also pretty huge and it comes at a reasonable price. I've never tried Japanese curry before, but I can definitely say after today that I'm a fan.The service here was decent. The food arrived pretty quickly and my waiter came back often to refill my water. The restaurant is kinda small inside but at the time I came there was only one other person eating. For parking there are a lot of paid meter parking nearby. Try it out if you like. :)

Great option for Japanese curry. Ordered the signature katsu curry with pork loin. They have various spices on the side if you want to make it spicy. I liked it as it was. The katsu was a little on the drier side. The chicken was more moist than the pork which was surprising. Definitely think chicken katsu is the way to go if you choose that option. The karaage was was also very good, and the pieces were huge. Corn potage soup is a good appetizer. Loved the creaminess of the soup. Sweet and savory. The portions are good. Definitely is filling and then some. Even though it was a weekend, there was only one server at the time, so you could be waiting a little to order. However, not too big of an issue. They've opened a location in SF too.

I've been to the Curry Hyuga in SF before, and was in the area and gave this location a shot. Overall I did not have the best experience. To start, we were seated without a menu, and there were no QR codes or anything so we had to search for the menu online. We then clicked the order button, which didn't seem to work, because even after clicking it another time, no waiters came for a solid 5-10 minutes.I ordered the classic teishoku rice plate with chicken-katsu, and was less than impressed. The chicken and the curry were both cold. This is one of those dishes that I really want to be fresh and hot, so this was definitely disappointing. Additionally the sides that came with the meal were all mediocre at best. Even the dry seasonings on the table didn't seem to have much flavor, except for one of them. The restaurant is really cute and the prices are reasonable, however the food and service just didn't make up for it.

Came here for dinner around 5:30 pm Sunday and it was busy! You put your name on the waitlist and it was only about a 20 min wait. They were busy, but the turn-around of the tables were quick. I ordered the signature chicken katsu curry ($16.50) and a side of their corn soup ($5). Soup was rich and creamy. Perfect for the winter night! The chicken katsu plate was ginormous! Chicken was nicely battered and the meat was juicy. Curry flavor was thick, rich and hearty. Well worth the wait!
