My daughter has had this on her list to try. This place is in a strip mall, so I thought it would be a small take out place. It's spacious and clean. We came because of the huge vegetarian menu. Almost everything on the menu came be made with a vegetarian option. It rare to find a place with fake shrimp. We started with cream cheese wantons. Another hard to find item. We got vegan walnut shrimp and sweet and sour shrimp plate. It tastes just like real shrimp. Also beef chow mein.with fake beef. The waitress was friendly and helpful. We also got regular non vegan plates as well. This is definitely a place we plan on becoming regulars.

I ate here a few weeks ago and it was my very first time. I live alone and don't get to cook where I rent, therefore I eat out a lot.I had sweet and sour pork and steamed rice. The quality of just this one item impressed me. It was just as delicious as going to one of those Chinese restaurants in San Francisco's China Town! It's not cheap but also not super pricey. I would recommend you to try their food!

This Chinese restaurant is run by the sweetest staff and has the best vegetarian options! I was surprised by the range of items available, including veggies and mock meats. I did the lunch special takeout on my first visit and opened the carton and said "ohhh yes!" It looked great and tasted amazing. Everything was super fresh and perfectly cooked. I added tofu to the eggplant with garlic sauce, and the flavors were on point (though could have been spicier). We've gone back twice more to try other dishes, and we've loved everything. Husband got the sweet and sour veggie chik'n and loved it. The Chinese broccoli with chik'n was also excellent. My favorite was the sizzling vegan beef - omg so good. The "beef" is made from mushrooms and the texture was toothsome and chewy (in a good way). Can't wait to dig into more of the menu!

A very unassuming restaurant that has vegan vegetarian options and taste delicious even with substitute protein. It's a very typical Chinese place , cooked and served hot and done very quick, service is very good ! It's clean and even if it's a hole in the wall, it doesn't smell foul like other old Chinese restaurants . They are open on some holidays too so call them . They are popular with to go orders although I like my food served after it's cooked so I dine there . Highly recommended.

Quick service, great menu, good price. Try the Singapore Rice Noodles, if you like barbecue pork and shrimp with a little taste of curry.

This is a small restaurant. Just 7 tables but don't let that stop you. The food is pretty good and plentiful. The guy at the front was very nice. They seem to take Covid precautions seriously which I appreciated. I got the Kung Pao chicken lunch combo. I find it annoying that restaurants don't offer lunch specials during the weekend. Thankfully this place did but do charge a little more on the weekend. I have never understood that logic and need to look it up.

Their fake meat is great, which is why this is our current go-to for to-go Chinese food. My wife doesn't like to kill animals unless they are fake. The food is fine. Fried rice is fine. Vegetable chow mein w/ fried egg is just okay, though the veggies and egg are undetectable: it's just fat grey udon noodles. Chinese broccoli w/ garlic (?) was watery and not too garlicious. Cream cheese wontons are yummy. "Beef" and broccoli is great and orange chicken are "great". The service and packaging are good, but they should interchange the letters in KO to make it Chef OK.

As Chef Ko closed on 2/28/25 (to reopen as Hawaiian Barbeque & Wok in April), I offer many thanks to the ownership and staff of Chef Ko Chinese Cuisine for the great vegetarian Chinese dishes we have enjoyed at your restaurant over the decades. This was the best restaurant to get vegetarian Chinese cuisine in the whole Bay Area! We will miss your vegetarian offerings very much! Best wishes on your new endeavor! We will stop by in April!I hope you can keep your photos of the dishes you offered at Chef Ko on this Yelp webpage. It's a nice reminder of the delicious offerings on your menu!

Dinner combo meal is so worth it. Portion wise, quality wise, you're getting your bang for your buck here. I really like the sweet and sour chicken and beef and broccoli and since those items are divided in the combo dinner plates they are nice enough for me join the two together and get the proteins I want! The fried rice is amazing. Chow mein I can skip on. Egg rolls are also really good! Friendly small local business and way better than Panda

Chef Ko has been amazing Chinese food since it has opened. It surprises me that it's not busier than it is. They are fast, fresh and always tasty dishes. Their menu is full of delicious plates and soups. A definite must visit if you're looking for Chinese food.
