Walked in for a late lunch yesterday around 4pm. They had menu's stacked on the counter and the first thing I noticed was their menu was very large. The second thing I noticed was that their menu's had no prices. It took quite a long time to decide what to have for lunch. I finally pulled the trigger on their Quesabirria taco's. I sat in their dining room which was very clean and was brought chips, salsa, and a water while I waited. The food was so delicious. If You have never had these, they are cheese fried tacos with a generous amount of cheese and meat in each taco. The dipping sauce along with the orange-colored sauce provided was delicious. I would highly recommend this dish and will plan to go back soon. 5 stars for presentation & staff. Thank you ...

Came here as my niece wanted pupusas. This place was the old donut shop pre pandemic. The restaurant is bright (yellow and orange), with a handful of tables for dining in. A few TVs as well. Service is friendly. There was only one woman up front helping to take orders, serve the food and ring up the bills. She was BUSY! While there were 2 tables when we arrived, more folks came in for dine in and to go orders. The woman was go go go the entire time. The menu is large with a huge variety. I think they have something for everyone. The food is good, portions are generous. The pupusas were all tasty - chorizo and cheese, pork and cheese, asada, etc. There is a side of slaw that is tangy and bright to help cut through the richness of the cheese. Will come back for taco tuesday!

Small hole in the wall, staff is always friendly. My go to is their torta with carne asada. I've been on a mission to find the best torta in San Jose; and so far I haven't found any place that beats this! It's so big and the bread is soft and it always has the right amount of spice and flavor. I haven't tried anything else; but for tortas- they can't be beat

We ordered the carne asada, tripa, pollo, and chorizo. My favorite was the tripe, then the carne asada, then chorizo and chicken, in that order. The tripe was so good! Next time I'd love to try the lengua and cabeza and al pastor. The tacos are 5 for $10 on Tuesdays so I recommend you come on Tuesday if you want tacos. There is indoor seating and a couple outdoor tables as well. They also currently have someone cooking outside. The food come with complimentary chips and salsa. The tacos came with onion and cilantro on top, and the sides of grilled onion, lime, cucumber, and radish. My only gripe was that the floor was pretty dirty with trash on the floor - napkins, water bottles, wrappers, etc, and was not being cleaned. The menus also were a little sticky/worn and have no prices on them, so it's difficult to order if I don't know how much stuff is.

Food was good, my daughter loved her camarones empalizados! The fries had some kind of Cajun seasoning which were good. The pupusas were delicious but I really liked the asada one. The appetizer plate was a great way to try a little bit of everything. The food took a while to come out but that meant it was freshly made. The ambiance was clean and servers were great. They checked in on us often.

Delicious food! Friendly service and good music. I haven't had eaten anything that I haven't liked. Chalateco is known for their "agua de fruta" and pupusas. They never fail. Micheladas are great too!

If I am in the area and not looking for Asian food, I come for their chicken soup. Fresh ingredients, usually pretty busy on the weekends, more quiet during weeknights and very much a to-go type spot for fast Latin American style food.

My friends and I came here for our lunch break and we enjoyed the food so much! I ordered enchiladas and they were delicious. The service was great. The waitress who served us was such a sweet person. Definitely recommend!

This place has quickly become my wife and my favorite Mexican restaurant. The food exudes authenticity and the menu includes many options that most places don't offer. For instance, their lengua tacos are wonderfully tender and delicious, but I find it almost impossible to resist their quesabirria - which is flat-out amazing. We have become regulars and eat there more than almost any other restaurant in the area -- which means that the fact that their prices are very reasonable doesn't hurt at all. Couple all of that with a wonderfully friendly and helpful staff and this place is very hard to beat.
