This is a true Vietnamese family style restaurant and you cannot find that many around the Bay Area. I love the Vietnamese dry noodles and ordered the Cao Nguyen dry noodle, half rice noodle and half egg noodle. Wasn't what I expected. The red sauce on it tasted like those can sardine but this is my fault for not asking what's in it. The eggrolls were delicious and crispy. The catfish has great flavors and the kids love it but only comes in 3-4 pieces which isn't a lot but the price isn't expensive. For sure I will be coming back to try another type of dry noodle and hopefully is the one I been looking for.

This was the restaurant that I went to so much growing up, so I decided to come back to see how it is now. They definitely remodeled the place as it looked more modern and spacious. We came on a weekday evening and there was plenty of seating. Overall, the food tasted great, just like how it was back then, but the portions were small. When I looked at the menu, I thought the prices were cheap and very reasonable, but seeing that the portions were small, it is a bit pricey. Other than that, the Lau Thai and Ca Kho are must haves for those who come here.

Ever since our beloved Vung Tau restaurant closed, my family has been searching for another establishment that serves a well-rounded Vietnamese menu and specifically offers Banh Khot (crispy pancake appetizer) and Hu Tieu Ba Nam Sa Dec Kho (pho noodles with a tomato-based meat sauce + pork and seafood topping). Other restaurants offer Hu Tieu Kho with a soy-based sauce, but the tomato sauce? A rarity. At first glance, this restaurant is in an all-Vietnamese complex and only had Vietnamese customers- promising. The dishes looked identical...but unfortunately the taste was completely off. Starting off, the banh Khot was not thin and crispy enough, but passable. All 4 of us ordered a bowl of Hu Tieu Kho each, and we were so disappointed with the sauce. It was sickeningly sweet and hard to get through. While seasoning levels are preferential, there's no reason savory, Vietnamese dry noodles should have been that sweet.

Service is really bad. When I came in, they gave me a cold stare. They don't bother to ask you.

I heard this was a very traditional northern Vietnam restaurant to eat at. I don't really have a frame of reference, but I'll take their word for it. We got mainly catfish soup and a broiled cat fish as well. I thought it was pretty good. It's nice to eat out and eat like it's your mother's cooking rather than trying all these restaurants and them having a thing that separates them from the rest.I thought it was very refreshing eating here. Good food, good ambience, great service lol. 8/10.

We went for a late dinner on a Saturday night. A lovely spacious interior greeted us in the style of a hotel conference/banquet. The place exudes history and the owners reminded guests of their long tradition of their restaurant. The service was quick and courteous and the menu offered lots id options which are not all standard fare for many other Vietnamese restaurants in the area. We went for catfish in the clay pot and a veggie dish. Both dishes were pleasant and balanced. Overall a very good experience!

Let me start by saying I've been coming here for nearly 20 years, and it's mainly to support local businesses and to shoot the breeze with Amh Sang. Food quality has gone down here since Covid and the owner is getting more abusive than ever. Today our family decided to go there for as we've haven't been in quite a long time. We ordered 5 items for family style dinner and they in error brought out a chicken dish on our table which look ed very much like caramelized spare ribs to me and I put my spoon in it to begin serving myself and Anh Sang came running saying it was wrong and realized I jad touched it. Then all hell broke out in the kitchen with the lady owner and her staff. Although we were seated near the front entrance, her shouting made it so uncomfortable for us to enjoy our conversation with one another while waiting for the rest of our orders. At the end of dinner, my son went to the counter to 6 the bill, and my brother tagged along, suspecting the owner would bill us for the dish. Normally, I would accept and pay for the dish (lunch for tomorrow); however, all that yelling put a stop to that. And yes, she billed us for the dish we did not order, and when my brotjer corrected her, she said to him, "Did you eat it?"I was disappointed, but I would say I was surprised by her actions and what she said. In short, I'm never going back to Cao Nguyen.

Fantastic place to bring a large group of people who love authentic Vietnamese food. I love almost everything on their menu, but their three must picks for me must be their chicken fried rice, grilled fish, and their grilled pork bites. The fried rice such flavorful and EXTREMELY tender chicken, their grilled fish falls apart easily and is marinated and cooked in a savory sauce, and their pork has perfect tenderness and the sauce goes amazingly well with rice. The service is quick and caring, we also had wine with the owner haha. If you want great Vietnamese food come here! 12/10

Found this place on Yelp when trying to find a good Vietnamese restaurant for dinner after having fun at nearby Round1. When we walked into the restaurant we thought we were at the wrong place because it was the fanciest looking Vietnamese restaurant we have been to. It's a very nice, bright and clean space. The prices were also very reasonable and the food quality and taste were good. The portion sizes were average except the caramelized catfish dish seemed to be on the smaller size. Overall this place is good and worth trying!
