"Ridiculously tasty Sichuan food. Recommended dishes:- Spare rib with cumin- Chongqing chilly chicken- sweet and sour cabbage Service is ok, typical of Chinese restaurants. Ambiance is on the brighter side and not as fancy but it is still nice enough to go on a date."
"The dumplings and the beef pancakes are my favorite. My first go to place when I am just lazy and don't want to cook!"
Thin flour noodles, cucumber strips, house-made spicy cold noodle sauce. Option of shredded chicken, ground pork, or smoked tofu. (CONTAINS SESAME SAUCE)

"Been wanting to try this place for a long time. Wifey and I met up a friend who started working in Pleasanton for a Tuesday night dinner. Got distracted and forgot to take photos of the food haha. noOb mistake. We ended up ordering the boiled fish with bean sprouts in hot chili oil, Shanghai-style deep-fried noodles, and cumin beef. The boiled fish was really good but lacked the numbing spiciness I was expecting. The Shanghai-style deep-fried noodles were okay. Think deep-fried chow mein noodles but with the texture of funnel cake topped with corn starchy toppings that made the noodles soggy. Meh.Lastly was the cumin beef. I liked this dish the most. Strongly seasoned beef with onions and peppers.Despite being a slow Tuesday with only two other tables, service was another miss. I had to ask for rice several times. But what really upset me was that I had to ask for ice water at least 5 times. I mean, when you name a restaurant Fiery Shanghai, the customers would liked to have some water to cool down the "fire".Speaking of fires, maybe the workers were trained by the City of Los Angeles because they acted like there was no water. I literally had to walk to the register and ask for ice water. At the end of the day the food was okay. Fiery Shanghai. Not as "hot" as I thought.* What's with the strange ass interior decoration that makes each table look like a bed frame? When I was paying, I had this hilarious interaction.Worker: Where you from?Me: Livermore Worker: Where you born?Me: Glendale. Oh... I'm Korean lol. Bye."
"Obsessed with the dan dan noodles. Admittedly, I haven't had many types of dan dan noodles, but have had enough sichuan flavored food to be obsessed with this place. Also tried the chili oil wontons which were equally delicious, but if I'm going to be honest, I'd choose the noodles over the wontons. Noodles had a great balance of creaminess, a slight numbing spice, and peanut-y taste. PARKING: There is a decent sized shared parking lot on this plaza. Came on a weekday so can't say how busy it is during the weekend, but seemed fine for lunch. There is a fairly large covered patio for comfortable seating. SERVICE: Staff was friendly and helpful. Nothing spectacular, but overall a good experience. Will be coming back!"
"Authentic Chinese food. Portions are larger than other restaurants. Service is great. We have been coming here for years when we lived in Dublin. We always come here when we travel back from Idaho. Soups, fish dishes, 辣子雞, 外婆豆腐, 豆角茄子 are a few of our favorites. I highly recommend."
"The four of us girls had two large dishes: a large Green Sichuan pepper sayerkraut fish soup (with cabbage, mushroom, glass noodles, and lotus) and a large Golden Sour and spicy fish soup (with two cabbages, mushroom and glass noodles) Each comes with two bowls of riceThe service was good, and most staff spoke Chinese and English. The place looks clean, and there are chairs by the door for people who are waiting. My friends and I enjoyed it so much that we were full at the end, and we had some soup to take home. Would definitely come back!"
"My third visit here and every time I leave satisfied! We always order the house special spicy chicken. All the vegetable dishes I've tried (stir fried asparagus lettuce with dried chili, eggplant, lettuce stem salad) have been great. Even their white rice is heavenly. Expect a wait during busy times. In a strip mall with large parking lot. Bustling atmosphere. I can't wait to return!"
"The place is beautiful, it reminds of ancient China days. I love it!! The service is spot on, they are super attentive, friendly, and easy going. We ordered more, but we started eating I forgot to take more photos. We also got Kobe, prawns, and combination mushrooms. I like Seapot too. It's definitely different, this is not all you can eat. Seapot is modern looking. You don't get some of the exotic stuff that you would find at Seapot. For examples brain, pork blood, I believe I saw pigs ears, and chicken feet too. I don't eat those particular parts of animals. If you're someone that enjoys that, this spot is for you. This is our second time there. I will definitely come back, that's how much I enjoyed it. The food was fresh and impeccable."
"It's been a few years since my last review, and I think it's time for a well deserved update. It seems the majority of my issues with Fey in my previous review was heavily caused by food delivery services. Per Fey's recommendation to order pickup instead, all the issues we faced earlier have been resolved.Their food consistently has been high quality, decent portion sizes, and their pricing hasn't spiked too much in the past few years so I find them as my go-to Chinese spot whenever I have a hankering."
"Earl Spicy has been in the old Yi Yuan location for 5 years, the interior decor is same and serves Szechuan cuisine. Met up with some old friends for lunch the day after Thanksgiving. After conversation with the owner found out this will be their last week. They sold the restaurant due to health issues. We ordered a table full of food of which most were good. They said the new owners are going to keep some of the most popular items. Only three tables at lunch."
"I was craving Szechuan and just spicy food in general and was looking for a spot since my go to is closed on Tuesday... but I might have found a new go to!I got the fried rice, spicy pork intestines, pickled long bean with ground pork, and the dumplings Dumplings were pretty basic but good. Fried rice wasn't too oily or salty and paired really well with my two entrees.Spicy pork intestines is one of my favorites and this place was able to hit the spot! Just enough numbing spice to make it addicting but it didn't over power the other flavors.Pickled long beans w/ ground pork was just the right about of sour and spicy so it just made my whole meal complete!"

I mainly wanted to try Chef Zhao because of the food on the menu has some of our favorites, and we wanted to compare them to our other go-tos. Everything is decent but unfortunately we still like our go-tos better. Hence the 3 star rating. We did take out, the boss lady seemed nice but since we didn't eat-in, I can't rate her service. The street parking wasn't bad. It was during lunch, although I picked up early at around 11:3oam.Hope this review helps you decide if you want to give this place a try!

The pork and vegetables dumpling is a real winner. Thin skin, lot of meat and filling. Scrumptious

Everything was so good. We had the XLB, fried noodles, and green beans. Contrary to the restaurant name, these items were not spicy. The restaurant was decorated elegantly. There's a private corner for a large party.

Delicious food. Nice outdoor seating. Friendly service.I was looking for a new favorite place to get war wonton soup since my old favorite place closed. I found XLB Kitchen on Yelp and glad I did.The war wonton soup was exactly what it should be. I also sampled the bacon fried rice. It was very good. I do miss the cubed pork style, but this will do.The only downside is that the patio tables outside, which are lovely, have a lattice top with openings so I spilled soup and rice all over my pants. I don't see myself not spilling anything in the future, so I'll figure out a way around that.I'll be back. Often.

I had better food experience here with noodle soup and other dishes. However, the dishes today was not up to par. Most likely I won't return because it's oily. Puff Bean Curd Mushroom was too sweet.Eggplant spicy SzechuanSliced beef tripe

Parking lot right outside, very empty and no wait at the restaurant if you get there around 11. Service was fast and the menu is filled with yummy options. I don't love any of their sides like the sausage or the fried buns - they're just ok - but their soups are sooo good. Tried the lemon one this time and the way that the tangy soup pairs with the rice is amazing. Their other sauerkraut options with spice are great too! I love having celtuce as an option for add ins, and yuba and woodear! This is the same franchise as "Fish with You" in San Mateo. Their menus are the same. It gets quite busy around 12:30, and the tables filled up fast as we ate.

Long lines, long wait if you miss the initial round of seating when they first open. I saw a lot of people ordering food for take out, and that makes sense since you'll probably want a lot of rice. Each dish is addictively spicy. I would skip their boiled spicy hot pot for next time. It's good, but the other dishes are better. The boiled spicy snakehead is also very good, but the portion size is very small. They only gave us a few pieces of the fillet so it didn't feel like the value was there. As for the other dishes we ordered (see pictures), they were all very great. My dad, who is picky with food and can't take spicy food well, really enjoyed everything. Prices are on the higher side. We finished almost everything between the 4 of us. We intentionally saved a small bowl portion for my brother to go.

This is notably one of my favorite hotpot chain restaurants. While there isn't an AYCE option, I really love the large and unique variety of à la cart menu items to select from. It can get expensive if you go to town and not track what you're ordering. They also have really flavorful broths. Spicy is really spicy, so proceed with caution! If you're adventurous and want to try something exotic, this is the place! Challenge your friend (or yourself) to some pig brains! They have all kinds of funky stuff, you'll have to check it out for yourself.Make sure you order some "fortune bags." You'll have to trust me on this one. They also have a condiments/snacks/dessert bar. Definitely save room for the desserts! The restaurant was very nicely decorated and clean. They have hair ties and glass wiping cloths at the entrance. In the restroom there are complimentary toiletries for freshening up after your meal.Service was quick and friendly.

"Walking down University Ave and just enjoying the evening when we came across this place. And suddenly we were hungry. Amazing food! Definitely recommend this place!"
"Loved this place! It's a casual spot where you can order from your phone using the QR code on the table. The food came out pretty quickly which was good because we were starving! The type of food was something new for us--at least the Dry Mix Hot Pot. And it was outstanding. The spices in there makes you want to keep eating. All of the food we tried had great quality and flavor. I loved the fried noodle dish. I wish they served a sauce with the pot stickers but I ended up dipping them in the garlic sauce that came with the eggplant. We will definitely be back to try more from the menu!"
"We have been Malatang fans ever since we used to frequent Bow1 in Newark (RIP). Had been meaning to check out old street for some time and finally made it out during lunch today! Both our bowls were $20 and it was a lot of food! It is a solid spot, but I was not blown away. Pros - large portion- quality of meat (thin beef!)- good spice on the spicier options- sauce bar- easy to customize - friendly serviceCons- no photos on app for ordering and some items are named super similar- flavor of broth could be stronger - soup was not piping hot, but rice cakes and a few other items were overcooked"
"Order food delivery, took about 30min and everything tasted delicious! Recommend the honey walnut prawns, chicken fried rice, mongolian beef, orange chicken and crab Rangoon puffs. I also ordered a side of white rice. Everything was reasonably priced! I love that everything tasted fresh and how its supposed to taste. Nothing was greasy and it was all flavoful. I haven't been to the restaurant itself yet but plan to do so. Shout out to my friend Juanita who told me about this hidden gem and local biz."
"A few friends of ours were meeting after almost 10 years and we wanted to have a great food experience where we could chill and have a great time. We knew about Chef Sha's Schezwan style, cooking restaurant and search and specifically homed in on this restaurant. The ambience is okay, probably gets busy during the evening, but the food here is amazing. We had the garlic green beans sauteed . We had the chicken, wings on a bed of red chilies and the boiled fish in a spicy sauce. The chicken chow mein, Paired with steamed rice, augmented the spicy fish curry and the whole lunch experience was amazing. Cold beers to cool you down and so If you love schiuan style Cooking, this is a place. You must try. Five stars all the way."
"Legit Szechuan food. Solid choices and execution. All the classics, 5 stars. middling ambiance as one would desire for a solid establishment of this genre."
"Gem of a spot. Good food, fun atmosphere, very friendly and self-aware server boys.Tong your own ingredients and it's $14.99/lb for three customizabowl (haha see what I did) options:- Malatang (spicy beef bone soup)- Malabang (sweet and spicy peanut sauce)- Dry potI'd recommend the malabang and dry pot for more flavors over just the spicy pain in your mouth.Do order other things off the menu, especially the cumin chicken! You're basically sucking on bones for this dish but the flavors make you appreciate what a beautiful world it is.A bit pricey. Would come back if I find a sugar-mala-daddy."
"I stopped by this restaurant for the first time tonight. I had such a wonderful experience. The staff are friendly and nice. And the food is DELICIOUS. We ordered egg flower soup, hot and sour soup, Mongolian beef, and beef chow mein. Every dish tasted amazing. You can tell that ever fish is made to order. And that they use good quality ingredients. I think I found my new favorite restaurant! I'll definitely be telling my friends about this place! If I could give this review extra stars, I would! Great service, great staff, great food, and great prices!"
"I used to come here years ago (before Covid) and they were like a buffet Asian food and "nicer than Safeway" sushi takeout but they seem to have changed their set up completely since then. It's ambience is now a sit down bbq/hot pot spot with sushi but sushi stops at 5pm which I didn't realize because they close at 10:30pm.They were kind enough to still make my rolls since it was slow. The rolls are much pricey-ier than I think they should be but inflation messing everyone up I guess. I got three rolls and spent $50 bucks and I just was not expecting that lol.***Ok so I posted this while waiting for my food LOL and that could have been awkward but they saw my review and gave me a complimentary order of noodles which was really sweet. Please the sushi is as good as I remember it. They make the Green Dragon the best than any other green dragon I've had so my 4 stars still stand. I would come again if I ever wanted the green dragon for just me as opposed to multiple rolls to share."
"Dis some baby making food! In a little corner of worn down Chinese shopping center in Cupertino, CA is this gem! Chef Z's - a Sichuan food court restaurant surrounded by an optometrist, Chinese medicine booth, and several music schools and tutoring centers. The foods: chengdu dumplings (wontons in chili oil), chongqing fried chicken (Sichuan style popcorn chicken), and shredded pork in hot garlic sauceI've eaten at some of the best holes in the wall in San Francisco but THIS is the best chinese food I've ever had in my life. Everything was perfectly cooked in under 10 minutes. This meal felt like a big hug and lifted my mood after the first bite in a run down Chinese strip mall other Chinese people eat there flies menu in Chinese with a splash of english have to ask for water cash onlyThis place is legit!"
"Food was served out fast once I called in to order for pickup. Small sized restaurant. Delicious Szechuan food. Eggplant in garlic sauce was yummy with their rice. Shredded pork in garlic sauce went well with everything.Fish filet in hot chili oil warmed up my body in the winter season. One can't go wrong with ordering any of their delightful entrees!"
"We were back another time for another friend's birthday and as usual, this restaurant was packed of people and we had to wait a bit for seats despite having a reservation. They were refilling the meats so I grabbed mostly meats, veggies and seafood and got the sweet and spicy option. Our orders came out swiftly and the food was delicious yet again. It was quite spicy but worth it ~"
"My boyfriend's family has been coming here for decades. This is the staple Chinese food restaurant in WG! The chow mein here is the best thing on the menu. The broccoli and beef was kinda greasy. Price is ehh, we paid 74 for 3 things via DoorDash including delivery costs. They never mess up the order which is great and they're always quick. There's actually quite a busy group inside the restaurant too if you want to sit down. Will keep coming back."
"This place never seizes to impress my palette. Actually , let me go back on that. The first time I had tried it, I hadn't developed yet my obsession for Szechuan; and I wasn't really aware of how I felt. About a month after trying it, I had an odd craving for this delicious spice, and there was no going back. I now order once per month. My favorite are the Dan Dan noodles, and the Mapo Tofu. I also love the boiled fish, however, I've recently cut back on fish and I therefore skip that one. (The flavors are terrific and this place doesn't fail in delivering that flavor I now crave. The people who run this place are warm and welcoming ; and the ambiance is clean , casual, (yet slightly elegant ) ,and inviting. Of course I will continue to go back."
"Love the food at Yummy Kitchen! Our go-to items are House Special Fried Rice, Sesame Balls, Crispy Garlic Chicken Wings, and a tofu fish dish that isn't on the menu (mildly spiced Stewed Beef Brisket w.Tofu Casserole but we request fish instead of beef). Soooooo goood every time!"
"So I honestly don't know why this place is not rated way higher, because it's probably my favorite Chinese restaurant in the whole Bay, especially if you like frog legs. Every single person that I've taken here too has loved it, so I certainly don't think it's just me. The service can be hit or miss admittedly, but if it's the old lady serving then she never misses a beat.I've probably been to this place over 50 times within the past few years, with the most recent being last week. So along with writing more reviews of places I go this year, I feel like this one needs to be done justice. The local kinda sucks; it's a bit off the main highway and a little hard to find. It's never really packed, and during my first visit it seemed a little sus. They're one of the few restaurants to offer frog legs (specifically the dry pot spicy frog), so I tried that out first. It did not disappoint. This place has hands down the best frog legs and hot and sour soup in the Bay. My most recent trip we had the veggies, the frog legs, and hot/sour soup again, but I've also had the beef tendon, kung pao chicken, hot/sour fish, and others here too. Every single item we've ordered here has tasted authentic and great. The prices are quite reasonable too, especially for how good it is. Their lunch special is one of the best deals in the area. The food and value is so good here I can forgive the ambiance and sometimes inconsistent service and still give it 5 stars."
"Craving something nice and warm? Not sure what to get and not liking the different options? Want something specific without any additional things? Check out Tang Bar.Build your own hot pot noodle soup! Tang Bar brings the Malatang spicy Chinese street food concept to the Bay and elevates the experience while making it easily approachable even if you've never had anything similar. The build your own bowl adventure at Tang Bar lets you get everything you want and nothing you don't, placing the power in your hands to make the perfect bowl for you. While it may seem intimidating at first, it's actually quite simple and easy - make your way down the bar and grab what you love, letting them do the rest and prepare to perfection for you.The staff is friendly and efficient. They also keep the place very clean and orderly. The vibes are immaculate and they capture the fast casual concept perfectly. It's amazing they were able to include that inside an inconspicuous mall. They've definitely made the best of the odd setup.Overall, if you are craving a hot bowl of delicious soup filled with only the ingredients you love, Tang Bar is the place for you."
"Great food and very friendly service. Our eight person group of colleagues spanned a range from Caucasians who aren't very adventurous to Asians who love Sichuan (and a few in between), and everyone was very happy. One star removed for the bathroom where the toilet was broken."
