"Bulked ordered from here for a party, and I was amazed how good everything came out! The place has good amount of seating with Mexican and Salvadorian food go choose from. The person who helped us was really nice. Ordered on doordash for pick up and it was ready the time it said. The Atole is soo good! Nice and hot with a perfect amount of sweetness!Ordered cheese and jalapenos, zucchini and cheese, and bean and cheese papusas and all were moist and flavorful! Good curtido and they give 2 sauces a spicy smokey one and the traditional tomato one. Also ordered yuca con chicharron, and bananas combo and those were good! Really enjoyed everything we ordered today."
"My sister has been raving about this pupusa place forever and we are so glad we finally made the trek down to South Bay to try this.Rating Breakdown:2/2 Stars for Taste --We ordered a bunch of pupusas to split. We tried the chicharron con queso, zucchini, mixed pork, and the beans and cheese. Honestly, they were all so good, it was hard to pick a favorite. I wasn't even mad at the ones without meat in them. Just slather them pupusas with red sauce, pile that slaw on, and shove it in my face. We also tried the huitlacoche quesadillas for the novelty, which was good but wouldn't go out of my way to have it again. The quesadillas palacios were also worth trying. The surprise of the night was the empanadas de platano, a dessert that was not too sweet and a great way to round out a meal made of carbs on carbs on carbs. Don't forget the horchata or the jamaica to wash the carbs down. 0.5/1 Stars for Value --Not cheap! The menu doesn't have prices on most of the items so you're kind of ordering blind. We ended spending about $25 per person, but we kind of went overboard because we wanted to try everything and we also got drinks. 1/1 Stars for Customer Service --If you dine in, they give you complimentary chips and salsa. (They're Costco chips, but free is free.) The servers were super nice. There's a bit of a wait for the food, but everything was made in house (except the chips lol) so that was to be expected.Bonus star because I would definitely be back for the pupusas and to try other items on the menu like the alambre!"
"Cozy little spot in Mountain View! Exceptional, attentive and welcoming staff. It is a self seating restaurant and they go to your table when you are ready to order. I've come here multiple times and it never disappoints! Food was delicious and always fresh! Recommend to eat here rather than take out. I'll be back"
"I was in Menlo Park for work and had some down time. Zipotes was the solution. The sweet man at the counter told me it was going to be 30 minutes. I got the combo. A sweet milk empanada, a chicken Tamal, and two pork Pupusas. It was worth the wait. Absolutely delicious! I loved everything. The Pupusas were divine. The Tamale had lots of chicken inside and was steamed in a banana leaf then neatly wrapped in parchment paper.Everything tasted fresh and made to order. The sweet milk Empanada had a bar of milk with the consistency of cream cheese. The dough tasted like plantains. It was a perfect side dish to everything else and was unique. When you can't get down to El Salvador to dine beachside - go to Zipotes. Lovely people and great food made with love."
"Hidden gem in a small strip mall in a residential area. Lengua quesadilla was on spot. Ordered to go and it came with all the sides that I wanted. Parking was a breeze, service was quick and efficient. Great place to great a quick lunch or dinner if you live in the neighborhood."
"Wowzers! They need a sixth star! This little food truck has a lot of big flavor. It is so good that I didn't want to give this review because, then EVERYONE would come over here and the lines would be too long! But I really love the food, and I can't wait to try their other offerings!THEY HAVE PUPUSAS!!! Yaaaaay! After many other of my favorite Salvadoran places that served pupusas closed down soon after the pandemic, I was afraid that no others would replace them.Along comes Paper Platez and I am blown away. I went straight for the Salvadoran menu, naturally, and ordered the pork papusas and a Salvadoran tamale. If you never had a papusas, it is a stuffed pancake made with maize and stuffed with meat, beans, cheese or loroco or a combination with cheese. It is delicious! But here, the outside was crispy! A CRISPY PAPUSAS?? YES!! And it works!! It really fired off my saliva glands, it was so flavorful!I had some room for my tamale, and the first bite was sinfully good. The look on my face looked like I just . . . use your imagination here . . . But I was in heaven! It takes something really special food-wise to make me cry with joy. The texture was ultra creamy and just melted in my mouth! The flavor of the meat and the seasoned maize (and this, I think, contributed to the umami here). This had to be one of, if not the most delightful, memorable, delicious eating experience I have had in ages. Highly recommended. Paper Platez is deliciously open from 11:00am and closes at 9:00pm. I am going there again to try some of their other delicacies!"

Pupusas are so good here!!!' Tasty and filling. We ordered ahead and was ready when we arrived. We were all starving and two filled us up! We all got the traditional bean and cheese one with all the toppings and sauce that comes with. We also got a side of plantains! Sooo good. Reasonably priced. Can't wait to go back!

I'm writing this review in response to a catered event that El Palacio Del Sabor did for my work team. The coordination and planning was mostly done by my coworker and me. I would say it was more like 90/1 her/me. The reason I say that is because the people who are taking care of the catering details speak mainly Spanish and are not too comfortable speaking English. Was this a problem? No since my coworker spoke fluent Spanish. That being said, there were means to converse in English, including e-mail. Logistics: They take care of EVERYTHING. Food, serving trays, plates, utensils, and if you order it, agua as well! Food Quality: This stuff was delicious. There's nothing short of describing it as such. We did this at a park that allowed propane fires and everyone had a blast. Strongly suggest this place for catering.

An El Salvadoran restaurant/Mexican restaurant which doesn't look like much from the outside, but let me tell you I had the best asada burrito and chicken tortilla soup from a restaurant ever!!! The chicken tortilla soup broth was authentic with little pieces of guallilo chilis in it. There wasn't much chicken to speak of, but they put little pieces of avocado, cheese and fresh fried tortilla strips. The burrito had just the right proportion of beans, rice, and meat and the flavor was excellent. It didn't need much added salsa, but we were given red and green salsa. I was visiting my mother-in-law who had just had surgery, so I got my order to go and was in a hurry and didn't get any pictures. There is a counter to order for to go or you can sit at one of their tables inside or in their outer patio. I will definitely be back when visiting my in laws, and I will definitely take pics next time! Try this place! You won't be sorry!

This little restaurant serves good food. They have the typical Salvadoran plates. I went for the breakfast - it satisfied my craving. The handmade tortillas were thick and moist. The coffee was good. Also, for nostalgia or if you want to try, they sell Salvadoran snacks. I support local Salvadoran businesses and owners. In the heart of hearts, they're trying and this is how they make their living, and it's not easy these days. The fact that they ask for payment before you get your order is probably because they've been burned many times before and can't afford to lose anymore.

Located at (or I guess inside) O'Malley's pub, this unassuming Mexican place has great burritos. Service was easy and quick and you can order ahead of time for convenient pickup. The price is solid for Mexican food in this area and the taste and quantity of food is perfect. Definitely one of my go-to places for burritos in the PA/MV/LA area.

BANGIN!! 10/10 recommend! Loroco, bean and cheese Papusas, and asada tacos, LETS GO!!!!Loroco papusa - excellent! First, I don't always love Papusa because they can be oily and overwhelming in the mouth. Not these and we ordered take out! Which means they should have been more soggy, but they were not! Very tasty and my husband was VERY HAPPY! Bean and cheese filled Papusa - Excellent!FIRST OF ALL!!! These are flavorful, I'm currently eating them, just enough of the beans and cheese to feel like a Papusa and not a burrito. YUUUMMMM!!Asada Tacos - EXCELLENT!!HOLY COW. I have never seen my daughter scarf food faster, literally had to scream "WAIT!!!" So I could have a TINY bite. The meat is perfectly seasoned and the corn tortillas was PERFECT! WOW. That was an excellent bite! Our biggest regret? We didn't order more(insert crying emoji)!! We ordered just a little to try it out. Now we are hooked and want more.We are so happy. Being from LA papuserias are a dime a dozen. Up here, we hadn't found any places that we ALL LOVED. Until now!

I've never had pupusas before, but I really wanted to try it. I happened to come across this food truck outside of Santa Clara Valley Hospital, so I got the 2 pupusa plate for$10. I got a Bean and Cheese Pupusa, and a Carne Asada Pupusa. It came with Curtido, which is pickled veggies, and I got the spicy salsa. The bean and Cheese pupusa was good, but it didn't have much filling, and it was mostly beans with a tiny bit of beans. Most of the flavor came from the curtido and salsa.I don't know how the Carne Asada with cheese pupusa is like because they ended up giving me 2 bean and cheese pupusas, and I wasn't near the truck when I found out. The food was hot and they make it to order so it's fresh, but I don't think I'd try them again.

"Sad to give this local eatery a less than stellar rating but the food was average, while the service was better than expected based on what I had read prior to dining there. I liked that there was an outdoor area with umbrellas up to provide shade. If I recall correctly, there are two tables out there but we had it to ourselves during lunch so that was nice. LUNCH SPECIAL 1: Comes with rice, beans, and 2 mixed pupusas. The plate was warm and the pupusas were piping hot when they arrived. The pupusas were soft with just a tiny bit of crispiness on the exterior. It lacked a little bit of flavor so I dipped it with some of their sauce, thinking it was spicy but it was more of a tomato based sauce with no heat. I ended up grabbing Tapatio because I wanted the kick. They also served the plate with a side of dressed cabbage, which was slightly tangy and helped cut the creaminess of the cheese in the pupusa and beans. CORN TAMALES: To be honest, these tamales were very, very dry which took me by surprise. I couldn't take more than two bites. Each one was $4. I wouldn't return here because I'd like to try other pupuserias after already giving this establishment a shot. I'd like to note some positive things, for example the food took about 10 or so minutes to come out after ordering and when one of the staff noticed that I grabbed a few napkins from inside, they followed me out with a napkin dispenser and placed it on our table. I appreciated that they took notice and tried to make our stay a little better."
"The food is amazing and I stumbled upon this place thru doordash. The service is always so fast and fresh! The papusas are small and thin but hearty! I absolutely love these and highly recommend!"
"Pupasas are the deal here. Crispy outside. Well stuffed inside. Lots of options such as loroco. Be prepared to wait because I think they make it to order."
"I am not a big fan of Salvadorian food however I have eaten it in the past and it's been okay. I was driving on Saratoga Avenue in San Jose, CA when I saw El Chalateco. The outside tented area looked inviting with quite a few patrons. So I decided to stop by with my wife and see what was going on. Everyone was very friendly and one of the outside employees waved hello to us. Well if so many people are eating there and an employee stops what he is doing to wave-i'm trying this place! The food was absolutely fantastic! The best Pupusas I have ever had! It was nicely filled, fully cooked and fairly good size. The tacos (Soft/Crispy) were excellent tasting with fresh ingredients and the pork and chicken was cooked perfectly. To finish the meal, we had dessert Plantain with sweet cream milk. I like Plantains if they are fresh and properly prepared. These were absolutely perfect and I highly recommend them.Service was excellent, all employees were polite, friendly and in compliance with Covid 19 Standards. They do take credit cards for payment. This is my new favorite restaurant and I Highly Recommend El Chalateco!"
"Cash or Zelle transfer, no credit card. Located in the corner plaza at Senter Rd and Monterey Hwy with the Marina Grocery store and Bank of America.Delicious carne asada burrito. I ordered mine with extra meat. Also tasty cheese and jalapeno pupusa. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. This El Palacio Del Sabor is the newer 2nd location; the older established one on Capitol Ave has 240 reviews with 4 stars.Only minor complaint is their tortilla chips are not as tasty as a place like Araujo's that makes theirs from scratch. But I prefer the burrito and menu food items from El Palacio Del Sabor, so it's worth coming here."
"One Saturday night on a drive back from the Alum Rock Hills, my partner and I were in need of some food. We had recently tried some excellent tacos at Tacos Al Cabron in East LA, and were in the mood for some Al Pastor. Driving down Alum Rock, I spotted a taquero cooking outside of a Salvadoran restaurant called Chalateco across from the Mexican Heritage Plaza. He was shaving succulent cuts of Al Pastor off of the spinning spit grill on top of perfect little corn tortillas then flicking pineapple for the finishing touch. We had found a gem. That location (@1694 Alum Rock Ave) is now permanently closed, and their flagship restaurant is now at 2 N. Jackson St (at the corner of Alum Rock and Jackson). I point out the address because I was not able to find it on Yelp, so I created a new entry. There are a couple other Chalateco locations in Mountain View and West SJ, but I found that they were not quite at the level of cooking of the east side flagship.I could've picked just about any restaurant for my birthday with my extended family last week, and I chose Chalateco on Jackson. I've never been disappointed by any meal here or at the previous Alum Rock location. After trying a lot more of their extensive menu items over the past year, nothing has changed my mind. Their tacos are fantastic. The best Al Pastor tacos I've had in the city. They are served with a succulent shaving of spit-grilled al pastor pork, cilantro, onion and topped with a flick of pineapple and either red or green salsa, which seems completely random. The small tortillas are doubled and thin. They cover just enough to curl everything inside the tortilla when you pick it up. Take a bite and tell me I'm a liar. The rest of their menu is enormous. They have Pupusas, Tamal, Huarache, Consome (chicken broth) with Barbacoa or Chicken, Tortas, Fajitas, Aguachile (damn near burned my tongue off!), Burritos, Ceviche, Enchiladas, and entree plates of different meats. Then you've got huge goblets of Michelada, their Agua Frescas (Horchata, Arrayan, Jamaica and Frutas, a nice fresh fruit punch). Then there's flan and plaintains with cream. As for the ambience, there are a lot of tv's around, with yellow and red painted seats and interior. It used to be a Carl's Jr. and the building still kinda has that vibe. Usually it's pretty busy at night, but it's a spacious dining area that could probably seat about 60 people. They also have a good-sized parking lot in the back. As of December 2022, they only take cash, but there is an ATM near the register. If you haven't yet been to Chalateco, I happily recommend it."
