I love love love this placeI took my boyfriend here for a date night and he loves it! We started off with the uni scallop toast and a korean steak tartare. I have had these tapas before but they were never failed to impressed me! The uni and scallop toast are super fresh and flavorful! We also order sunchoke and truffle and jjimdak bao and I really recommended the sunchoke and truffle dish, the truffle sauce has creamy and earthy taste to compliment the mushrooms. For large tapas, we had the gojuchang black cod and the galbi ribeyes! The meats were tender and perfectly seasoned! The dessert we got was a date chiffon cake, it's not too sweet and has a good combination of nutty and sweet taste to it. All the food here felt very carefully crafted and I felt very taken care of. The service was excellent! The waiter told me that they will change their menu soon so I'll define back for it!

Bansang is an upscale Korean tapas spot and I was excited to finally try it! We made a reservation and were seated right away. The interior was elegant and modern, and the service was friendly and attentive. Items ordered: - Uni scallop toast: Their signature tapas dish and I loved how fresh the uni and scallop were. The scallop was softer than I expected but didn't overpower the uni, and both melted in my mouth right away. - Rice cakes and chorizo: This was probably my least favorite dish since the portion was small. It comes with a few pieces of rice cakes and sausage with gochujang sauce, and although it tasted fine, there wasn't anything that stood out to me. - Crispy fried chicken: One of their newer dishes and you can choose which sauce you want for the flavor. I liked how crispy the pieces were and the dish came with around 6 pieces. - Jang cream pasta: I really enjoyed the mushroom cream sauce and the pasta was cooked al dente. I didn't feel heavy after eating it, and I would definitely get this dish again! - Miso marinated pork: I was pleasantly surprised by this dish as the pork was tender and paired very well with the puree. The portion is pretty generous for the amount of meat that you get. Would get again! Overall, I really enjoyed my experience at Bansang and look forward to coming back soon!

I was really excited for the uni scallop toast, but the uni didn't seem to be very fresh today. The mulhwe noodle was a great light dish as it was slightly sour. The steak tartare was well-marinated, and it came with seaweed that you can use to make into a hand roll. The sunchoke & truffle had a nice creamy sauce. The gochujang black cod was pretty underwhelming. The servers were very nice. They gave us a cake for celebrating a birthday! The restaurant has a great environment for date nights or chill hangouts.

An elevated Korean dining experience. Was really excited for the Uni Scallop Toast but was unfortunately disappointed in the uni taste - it wasn't very fresh. However, the Mulhwae Noodle and Chicken Bao was delicious - fresh and savoury. For entrees, we got the Galbi Steak and Jang Cream pasta. The steak was tender, juicy and flavourful. The pasta, on the other hand, tasted very bland and not as creamy as we were expecting it to be. It tasted like a very ordinary pasta anyone can make in their kitchen - it was pretty disappointing. The service and atmosphere of the restaurant was great. Servers followed up with us on the courses pretty frequently and the ambience was nice.

Loved the food here! Bansang really does Korean fusion right. I came with a friend and the 2 of us started with the signature Uni Scallop Toast (we had to order a toast each) and the Jeju Salad. Loved the toast with uni and raw scallop - it was super fresh and the perfect couple of bites on the crispy milk bread. The salad was light, refreshing and I loved the citrus fruit and candied walnuts on top. For entrees we shared the Gochujang Black Cod that came with a bean sprout salad and Miso Marinated Pork. Loved the black cod which was perfectly cooked, really silky and flaky. The pork was good was well but while I liked the cabbage puree sauce that came with it, overall the flavor didn't wow me. Overall, a great meal and would recommend if you're looking for a more fine dining and subtle take on Korean cuisine.

===TL;DR=== - Mulhwe noodle - Uni scallop toast - Korean steak tartare - Sunchoke & truffle - Galbi ribeye- Jang cream pasta - Radish kimchi fried rice - Cocktail: Yujamong- Mocktail: Jamong-ade- Dessert: Date chiffon cake ===TMI===Man, this block just has all the Michelin restaurants huh? Miss the old Izakaya Kou but now Bansang is the new kid on the block! Modern decor, contemporary Korean cuisine, tapas style - is that not enticing or what? Dim lit dining atmosphere during dinner time just sets the mood right for any occasion. To my surprise, Mulhwe noodle was one of my favorite dish! A great starter to open the palette and gets you ready for the next. Should I be surprise or not surprise on the proportions haha its definitely on the smaller end but hence 'fine dining' and 'tapas'. I feel like each dish was a couple of sample bites for our party of 3. Other dishes to highlight are the uni scallop toast and the beef tartare. Executed to its finest. Buttery soft and creamy texture toasts that just melts in your mouth. On the other hand, simple yet flavorful beef tartare wrapped in seaweed just bursting in flavors in your mouth - how satisfying. Now, I thought the remainder of the ordered items were ok - didn't blow my mind away. Least favorite is the rice..... too salty and too... hard in texture for my liking. Both cocktail and mock-tails were delicious, on the lighter end. The date chiffon cake was surprisingly divine, worth a try! But man, I last recall SF mandate charges were 4%.... When did it jump up to 5% now? -tears-

Came here yesterday after doing some shopping in Japantown so here I am. I ordered the Uni scallop toast, Korean steak tartare, Galbi ribeye w/ssam, and the radish kimchi fried rice. I also got the sun of a peach cocktail. The uni toast was good but it was soo small. I finished it in one bite. The korean steak tartare was nice, I liked the seaweed on the side for the handroll option. Galbi ribeye was okay as well as the kimchi fried rice. The cocktail was enjoyable, it was on the sweeter side of the spectrum. Service here was good. The food came out in a timely manner and the servers were very nice. The parking situation here actually isn't bad. There's a public parking garage nearby. All in all, food 3.5/5, service 5/5, atmosphere 5/5. The food here was decent, however lot of the portion sizes were pretty small though so be warned. This isn't a spot I recommend you would go to if you're really hungry. I will also say that this place can be pretty pricey. But anyways... try it out if you like. :)

Bangsang offers a standout dining experience with its creative and beautifully crafted dishes. The service was great, and the mood was also modern and pleasant. We started with a refreshing shrimp and jellyfish appetizer, perfectly seasoned and garnished with vibrant microgreens--a light yet flavorful opener. The uni toast was the highlight, with creamy uni, briny roe, and crisp toast combined for a luxurious bite. Finally, the bao buns delivered comfort and flavor, with tender meat and tangy slaw nestled in soft, pillowy buns.Bangsang impresses with its innovative flavors, thoughtful presentation, and well-executed dishes. It is a must-visit for anyone seeking a memorable meal.

Came here to celebrate a birthday dinner and the service, food, and vibes didn't disappoint! It's a nice romantic feel and a lot of people around us were also celebrating birthdays. The food was really good. The uni toast was good, pasta was amazing (very similar to something we had at stanley ranch in napa), oysters were ok (too large and creamy for me, but others loved this!), the meat and ssam was so so so good and perfectly cooked! The cocktails were fun and sweet and paired nicely with the food. And we got a complimentary dessert and IT WAS THE BEST THING IVE EVER EATEN. SO GOOD. I wish i remembered what it was but the picture will have to do!

When it comes to Korean fusion, two places come to mind: Restaurant Gish, known for its Omakase-style creativity, and BonMot, a delightful French-Korean blend. Both left a lasting impression!Today, I tried Bansang, a modern fusion spot on Fillmore Street in San Francisco. It didn't disappoint! As someone who's big on aesthetics, the plating here was a dream--every dish felt like an invitation to indulge, elevating both the visual and taste experience. Here's what I tried: Uni Scallop Toast:Their signature dish and an absolute stunner! The uni and scallops were incredibly fresh, paired with crispy toast that melted in my mouth. One bite and I was sold. Korean Steak Tartare:Decently seasoned and a solid option if you're into raw dishes. While not groundbreaking, it's worth trying as a backup. Jiang Cream Pasta (Cold Noodles with Fish):Light and refreshing, though the flavor profile was a bit muted. The fish was fresh, but the overall taste left me longing for the boldness of traditional Korean cold noodles. Galbi Ribeye:Surprisingly, the star of the night! Perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor. Pair it with their dipping sauce or wrap it in cabbage for the ultimate bite. I only wish I hadn't been so full by the time this came out!The Service:While the reception staff were friendly and attentive, the service from the rest of the team was a bit cold. The vibe improved later, but for the price, I expected a warmer experience.Final Thoughts:Despite the service hiccup, it didn't dampen the overall experience. That's the joy of a food adventure--a mix of hits and misses that make dining out so exciting!
