My husband I have been really blessed as we recently found a trustworthy/consistent babysitter that our kids really love who also likes taking care of our kids, so we've been able to do monthly date nights after not being able to do so ever since having 2 kids.I randomly found axe throwing on Groupon and we decided to give it a try. Neither one of us has ever been so we didn't know what to expect at all! The experience is at an industrial warehouse location (it's also the same place that offers glass-breaking experience if that's something you want to try). You're basically divided into groups & assigned lane(s) based on # of people in your party. Since our time didn't fill up all the lanes, my husband and I both got our own lane to use.The coach was good at coaching and showed us how to get started very easily. He also gave us a few pointers so help better the experience. My husband I mainly focused on learning to be consistent since it's our first time throwing axes - it's definitely a good work out for sure. We had a lot of fun and would definitely want to try it again in the future!

I had a team event here and it was so much fun! They really stressed the importance and safety of paying attention to the demos so that no one gets hurt. They are strict on the rules for safety reasons which made perfect sense. It was easy to get the hang of, the staff was very helpful with 1:1 coaching if needed. It's quite a workout for the upper body. They don't have a ton of food or drinks, I think we all brought our water bottles with us. Also note that there's no AC in the place so it might be warm in the summer in there. There did have a good amount of powerful fans going so I didn't ever feel too hot.

We had an awesome team offsite at San Jose Axeventures! Nothing brings coworkers together like a little friendly axe-throwing competition. The instructors were super helpful and made sure even the beginners felt confident by the end. We had so much fun with the bleeding targets, and the variety of axes we can choose from! It was such a fun mix of laughs, cheers, and surprisingly satisfying throws. Definitely a unique and exciting way to bond as a team--highly recommend! Would probably come back again for another occasion!

Was visiting San Jose and went to Smash City Rage Room (which was awesome), and right next door we saw San Jose Axeventures--had to give it a try! So glad we did! The staff were super friendly and gave great tips. At first it was challenging, but with the help of the staff we were getting bullseyes in no time (well some of us, heh). It was such a fun and unique experience, way more satisfying than we expected. Love that it's right next door to the rage rooms, so you could go to both. They even gave us a discount because we had come from the rage rooms!

AxeVentures was a fitting experience for a birthday! After ordering 6 groupons online, I completed my reservation through the AxeVentures website by entering the codes. Groupon had a sale for $28.99 per person which was a good deal. Upon arrival, you complete their waiver and the instructor guides you through the process before you are left to your own devices. There are board games at the table and a whiteboard for you to doodle/ keep score on. I found it pretty frustrating at first since I wasn't able to hit the board. It does come down to physics and eventually, I was able to score on almost every throw. We enjoyed throwing for an hour and got to watch the instructor demonstrate the knives. The knives looked easier to me because of the added torsional aspect but probably still takes a good amount of time to get down. I would recommend for anyone who wants to try something new!

My friends and I made a reservation online for a Saturday at 3pm. Remember to make your reservation and wear closed-toe shoes. The parking lot is small, but there are 2 hour street parking all around. When we went, it took us a bit to find parking because the parking lot was being utilized for a small event and lots of the street parking was already taken. No biggie, we were able to find parking eventually and make it on time for our reservation. My friends and I had a good time. It was a good experience! The staff was friendly and informative. The place had some drinks (non-alcoholic - because no one should be drinking and throwing axes, lol) and snacks. I would definitely recommend people to check out AxeVentures to go axe throwing.
