Great sushi spot in Danville - 5 star for ambiance. The service was solid and the sushi was delicious, the fish is very fresh. We especially enjoyed the rainbow roll and yellow tail nigiri. We got the spicy garlic edamame which was way too saucy it was sitting in a bowl of liquidy sauce. We also did not care for the Karage chicken appetizer. My husband got a whiskey cocktail that was similar to an old fashioned but with an Asian twist and it was very very good, highly recommend trying that.

fun place in Danville livery. Good drinks and vibes, and it gets crowded fast! Service can be a little slow sometimes but that's okay, it's a small place and the quality is worth it! My wife and I were only able to try one roll each, but it was really good! They were also super accommodating of the fact that we had a baby and were super nice. Definitely going to be on our list of places to go!

Hubby wanted to venture out of Berkeley for a dinner date and decided on Aozora. Tucked away in a plaza surrounded by the woods and cute cottages, the interior of the restaurant is stunning and modern. Our waitress was attentive and soft spoken, making suggestions for what we could order. We both got a cocktail, mine was Japanese rum based and Hubby got the sangria. For food, we each ordered a mix of rolls and nigiri. The seafood was so fresh and tasty; and as you can see, the plating was simple but pretty. It was a quiet night despite lots of tables being filled. Highly recommend if you're looking to do a sushi date!

I came here with a friend on a Friday night with no reservation and thankfully we were seated immediately (we would've happily waited as we were excited to try them out!)We shared a few rolls and one of the entree items. Personally, I'd skip the entrees and stick to the sushi. There was so much depth and flavor in each roll, whereas the entree fell a little flat for me. We got the bbq pork belly and it didn't really stick out as worthy of ordering again. The cocktails were a 10/10! I can't even describe the flavors because they had such a delicate balance between floral, spice, and sweet. Our server was also fantastic and paced out our orders so nothing arrived at the same time. Overall, this is an incredible find for Danville.

Second time dining at Aozora - first with co-workers and lately a date night. So glad we have a nice Japanese resto in Danville. There are a lot of Japanese restos in Danville, and this one is my top pick. Busy Friday night right at the opening. Had reservations but they were fully booked, so we sat the bar instead. Our server was great and very knowledgeable. Starter with cocktails that were refreshing along with chirashi, and a couple of sushi rolls.

My main memory is that it was very cold. Every time the door opened, a frosty breeze hit us that the restaurant clearly wasn't prepared for. They need more heaters. The general manager made it clear that we were wrong about the temperature and explicitly let us know that it wasn't cold. Who wouldn't want to be told that they are wrong about how they (5 people) are feeling? It was an ordeal to get to change tables to a less breezy but still cold spot. The rest of the experience was shadowed by being cold and the treatment. Food was very average and over priced. Our waitress was very nice and tried to make up for our negative experience - hence 3 stars. Happy Birthday to me; we clearly won't be back.

More upscale Japanese sushi restaurant with the prices to reflect it but hey, we are in a nice part of town lol. Expect to drop $100-120 pp.Ordered many different dishes. They have sashimi specials. Ones that stood out were fatty tuna and mackerel. Also had some fancy wagyu pieces (not pictured) but felt like that was not worth the price. Sushi rolls all taste the same to me? Haha hard to differentiate but they were good nonetheless although portion wise on the smaller side.Noisy on a Friday evening, table was a bit cramped. Server was kind and attentive until the end when we couldn't find him for the check but they were closing up and we were talking a long time.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would because this is genuinely my favorite sushi place and I've been to at least several dozen in my lifetime. The fish is so fresh, the portion size, the aesthetic, the price, the roll options.... So delicious, everything is chef's kiss. The atmosphere is also very cozy and quiet, it feels more luxurious than other sushi places in every aspect.
