Oh American Cafe, you draw so many people in but today I left without a smile. When you're at a theme park, you can expect that the food isn't going to be top quality nor will it be a good price. However, when you're at a theme park and you do a lot of walking, you start to get hungry. Great America opens at 10 am and it's almost inevitable to avoid eating lunch. Because I didn't want to eat extremely oily and greasy food, I decided to give this place a shot because it offered grilled chicken sandwiches.It gets a little confusing when you order. The menu has 4 combos: grilled chicken sandwich, hot dog, hamburger and chicken tenders. Each combo comes with fries and a drink and costs about $16. So expensive and not even worth it but you got to feed yourself... Fries alone are $6 so if you want to get a hamburger on it's own it'll cost about $9. Still a ridiculous price. You first grab a tray and tell the first worker what you want. Then you go down the line and tell the second worker what you would like to drink. By then your food should be out but my grilled chicken sandwich was taking a while. So we paid for our food but caused a slight traffic jam as we waited. It was 40$ for two combos and a hamburger. Ridiculous price for regular food. However, that's theme park prices for ya. Finally we had everything. There are ketchup, mayo, sweet relish and BBQ sauce packets if you want them. We grabbed a seat and dug in. First off, my grilled chicken sandwich was horrible. It was the worst grilled chicken I have ever had in my life. It literally wasn't even the grilled. The picture they have portrayed on the menu is a brown/orange grilled piece of chicken but mine was pure white. It's as if it was just boiled. Not only that, the chicken was incredibly chewy that my teeth could barely even rip it apart. It was absolutely disgusting. The hamburger was pretty standard, no wow factor. It didn't have any sauce in it so it was pretty dry. The chicken tenders were pretty average. It was lightly breaded and easy to rip apart. Tasted alright with the BBQ sauce. Out of everything, the French fries were probably the best. They weren't super crispy but not soggy either. They are bigger and thicker than in n out fries so I did think they tasted good. Overall, didn't like the food here nor the price. The only thing I may possibly consider getting again would be the chicken tender combo.

We were super hungry and there were not many options where you could sit somewhere slightly enclosed. We didn't know what we were getting into but perhaps we should've read some reviews on Yelp before ordering. We did also come here because we were kind of wanting burgers and they had a special French Dip version because of Winterfest.You basically seat yourself and find a QR code to find the menu at the table. Past that point you get to order online. So hopefully you have phone service. After ordering online, you then wait. You don't know how long, but you just wait. And we waited so long that one of our parties decided to go and get other food to optimize our eating opportunities. Sadly the food did end up coming while he was out getting funnel cake which again had a long line.We got a the french dip burger with fries. The fries were okay. The burger was ok. We were just so so hungry. You have to get all the condiments yourself at the center area where an employee is kind of guarding it. It should feel like a diner but there wasn't really service outside of someone delivering the food to the table and even then, I'm sure they're not thrilled to be there or at least that's how it felt.So a tip, look around and see if people have their food. If not, expect a good amount of waiting to get the food. Otherwise, you're better off going somewhere else. It's not super enclosed, so if it is windy like when we went, you will be cold. Can't really compare to anything else in this place as it's the only spot we got food. But do not expect fast food.

They took too long with our food and forgot my chicken tenders which took another 30 minutes, I wouldn't recommend going here. The service is just horrendous.

Probably the worst burger I have ever seen.It took them about 20 seconds to serve me some greasy French fries and a pre-cooked burger.The meat was cold and dry, just like the bread.I brought the burger back and explained that this wasn't a 14$ burger. The "manager" change it for some chicken sandwich. I couldn't even try it.Very disappointed.

Pricey but good food. Husb had a cheese burger and fries $14. I had chicken tenders and fries, as always, good $14. Clean

Worst food of my life. Long waits, expensive, crappy food, with dirty tables available if you dare to dine in.

Terrible experience! Cold burgers, my wife asked a reheat, the guy came back with the same cold burger. Also it's very expensive.

Complete and utter failure on the part of all staff. The reason for this failure was the problem with the pink and purple cup they gave a purple cup which is double the cost of the pink cup because it was a season cup. And it was a difficult process to get a refund on the thirty dollar refillable drink. I would suggest never going here if u want to have a somewhat decent day.

DO NOT COME HERE unless you want to wait an hour and a half for mediocre food and the driest fries known to mankind. They forgot our chicken tenders so I went to ask a staff member and the lady said they forgot. Save your time by avoiding this place.

Waited more than 30 min for a chicken tender, even DMV is faster! 5 guys standing there doing nothing and don't care how long the line is.
