My partner and I came to Amami on Valentine's Day and it was super busy. The plaza has plenty of parking, but we came on a busy evening so it was a bit hard looking for a spot. Luckily, we had reservations and they were nice enough to let us push our time due to scheduling conflicts. The interior was cutely decorated with Valentine's balloons and the staff was welcoming. Service was prompt and friendly. Food:- Oyster special: Each serving had a fresh oyster topped with Tobiko, Uni, and a quail egg. It was very fresh, no fishy smell or slimy taste, and umami. 10/10- Omakase: I really love how Amami always serves a generous amount of fish to small rice ratio. The omakase changes here and there. Each piece was fresh, plump, and flavorful with complementing sauces. 10/10- Blue Shrimp Nigiri: Sweet, plump, and fresh. 10/10- Otoro Nigiri: Our favorite from the night. Definitely my favorite cut of tuna. Super fatty and rich that melts in your mouth. 10/10- Baked Scallop Roll: I'm usually not a fan of baked rolls, but flavor in this one was good. The rice was a bit too mushy for our liking which led to the roll falling apart easily. 6/10- Sun Rising Roll: Similarly to the baked scallop roll, the rice was mushy and fell apart easily. I wasn't a fan of the soy paper used. 5/10Overall, their omakase is definitely worth it, but it's only limited 1 per person. I will definitely be back!

We recently ordered some takeout from Amami for dinner. The food was really good, and the sushi was fresh. + Sushi combo (regular) - this consisted for 7 nigiris and California rolls. You don't get to choose the nigiris; it's just whatever they are serving that day. I'm not an expert, so to be honest, I don't know what I actually got, but everything was really fresh and delish.+ Chicken katsu dinner - the batter on the chicken had a light and airy quality that was very enjoyable. I wish they had a bento box option for dinner, but overall, we enjoyed what we got.

As someone who has recently moved to the East Bay, it was important to find a go to sushi restaurant nearby and I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Amani had a location in Fremont! The menu is similar to the other locations in the Peninsula, although they use a QR code for you to scan and view the menu vs a physical menu. The inside is relatively spacious and my husband and I were able to get seated right away upon arrival on Valentine's Day. The flavors of their sushi was delicious and made it easy for us to feel like we've found our comfort sushi spot to go to. Service was efficient and fast despite the growing crowd of people waiting for a table. And they're located in a plaza so parking is abundant and free.

Party of 9 with kids. We came here because we have been to the SJ location before. Big disappointment because the food isn't as good. Not only that, we found a little plastic bag in our udon. No comp, no apology, they just took the udon out of the bill. I guess they don't need to keep the customer happy despite charging a mandatory service fee on top.Overall a really bad experience

Amami has been here for quite a while now. It is in the plaza with the Marina Seafood/168 Market that has closed down. They are very fast with their orders. We ordered two chef omakase ($46 as of Feb 2026), and it came out in minutes. The food is good and there seems to be a lot of patrons. I've only ever tried the omakase here, not anything else on their menu.

The sushi is good but I wouldn't say this is better than most good local sushi spots. I'd say satomi is better but just because the portions aren't quite as large here and the omakase and fancy chirashi look better and bigger in photos. In reality, I'd give this place a 4/5 and the nigiri in the omakase are really small. The fish is fresh though! I think this place is all hype but if I was already expecting that, not too bad.

Came here with a friend on a Sunday afternoon shortly after it opened and it was already pretty crowded! They're doing well business-wise.Staff and Service:- There was only one waitress weaving the whole restaurant, but she was quick and kind- You can scan a QR code to identify what dishes you want, and then a server will take your order Food:We ordered a few rolls and edamame to eat. All were tasty. The 49er roll was a bit different as the standard one is a California roll topped with fresh salmon and a lemon slice. This roll was avocado and cucumber topped with fresh salmon and a lemon slice. The salmon lover roll was tasty and didn't have an overpowering taste of the salmon skin. Miscellaneous: - Parking available via a shared parking lot with other businesses - Definitely look at the tv screens as they show the different rolls and dishes for inspiration!

Went here with a friend last weekend and enjoyed the experience! The portion sizes were generous and reasonably priced. We shared the Oyster Special app and I ordered the Chirashi. We both commented on how thick the sashimi slices were. I love wasabi and ginger, and I liked how generous they were with those servings too. The oyster app is sooo flavorful, you have to try it when you go! I loved itOverall, the ambience felt peaceful with warm indoor light and sunlight streaming in through the windows. The music wasn't too loud, making it easy to have a relaxing conversation. The service was quick, attentive, and nice. They offered us free ice cream at the end of our meal which we appreciated. My friend got the green tea ice cream and I got black sesame. :)Areas of improvement: I would've preferred if the oyster app came out before the entree, but it came out shortly after so it wasn't a huge deal. Also, the bathroom could be much cleaner. The floor was wet and had toilet paper roll strewn about. But overall it was a positive experience and I recommend it! There's a big parking lot so it was easy to find a spot, and if you plan to take BART, it's about a 20min walk. I drove 45mins to get here and would definitely do it again! Good for a casual lunch or date night.

Great quality for the value! My friends and I came here Sunday afternoon and were seated immediately. The food also came very quickly. I like how this place is Chinese-owned but serve authentic Japanese food. The lunch specials are a great deal- my friends got 7 pieces of nigiri+ a California roll+ miso soup for only $28! My unagi don was $22 and was also delicious. They have a couple locations scattered around the Bay and they're all a great spot for your sushi fix!

I came here on a Monday and luckily it wasn't that busy. They offer hot tea and it was pretty good for this windy weather. My mom ordered the salmon bento with gyoza, while I got their regular sashimi platter and their 49er roll. The 49er roll was good, but unfortunately not good on a cold day. Inside of the restaurant was pretty cold too so maybe that affected my experience eating here. What I love the most was how they cooked their salmon, it tasted like it was cooked from a charcoal grill. I really like their quality of fish and how they were big pieces. It was our first time here and my mom really likes this place and that what all matters to me. She was impressed so she ordered the scallop sushi roll she saw playing on the flat screen t.v. That's some good marketing lol. I was also impressed by the scallop sushi roll, usually sushi doesn't taste good the next day when refrigerated, but when I ate it the next day after microwaving it, it tasted amazing!
