Glad to see another Amami sushi open up in the Bay Area. Amami is well known for their affordable 10 piece Omakase and this new location delivered. The sushi was fresh and they are generous with how they slice the fish for the nigiri. The three of us shared two Omakases and ordered an additional roll with a couple of appetizers. Service was friendly and prompt. Would come back again.

Came by before 6 on a Friday and was seated right away but by 7 there was a line out the door. There was also construction going on on the roof. I think having Amami in the hood now validates Geary Blvd in the Richmond District west of Japantown as a good non-touristy sushi corridor. With a reasonable omakase of $42pp it makes a nice place for 2 to get quality sushi although there were a few families with young kids. Parking is getting tougher especially with Amami situated next to the metered parking lot (only $1 for 2 hours) which was so full we had to manoeuvre between 3 cars fighting to get our spot. On the other site is the popular upscale dim sum house, Dragon Beaux and across the way is the ever popular Kitaro which I deem as the best "bargain sushi" in the city. It too had a line out the door and they had a tons of Door Dash and take orders ready to go! So parking is getting tougher. The sushi was great quality and the omakase plus a couple of nigiri and tea still came out close to $120 for 2 with tip. If you are a bit of a sushi snob and are looking for a good sushi joint in the northwest part of the City, Amami will be a welcome addition.

We thought the food was very good. For a new place, it was full today at noon. A good sign!temperagyozamackeral bento box with salmon skin rollsushi bowlComes with salad and miso soupWe liked everything. There is only one waitress and she is very busy when it filled up but she managed to take care of everyone.

We had a great experience here last night. We were celebrating my husband's birthday and he wanted omakase. This place has the best dealIn town - $42 for 10 nigiri pieces. We ordered two omakase and aChicken kaarage. The staff was so friendly. The omakase were fresh, tender and delicious. The chicken kaarage order was huge, crispy and yummy. Not greasy. And I really liked the sauce. We sat at the sushi bar and enjoyed watching the chefs slice torch our sushi. It was a great evening. We were stuffed and will definitely be back.

Yes yes and yes!!!My favorite bang for your buck omakase opens in the Richmond district. It's like Amami knew I was moving in the area. The quality, service, and pricing is exactly the same as their other location. Everything is still deliciously melt in your mouth and the environment is still so welcoming. Come as you are and come ready to not spend a fortune on quality fish.I'm thankful the universe brought this spot to me since moving in the area. This will be my solo date spots for lunch and dinner!!

Merry Christmas. Thanks for being open!Congrats on all your 5 star reviews, this was more of a 4.5 star visit, but we rounded up.I would feel guilty for being the only 4 star review, peer pressure, lol.Quality/Quantity - Known for the affordable $42 Omakase. But today we all participated in the lunch special. Today we got the following:Amami Special Roll - Sorry, but it was nothing special. We always try to sample the signature item and since this had their name in it, we ordered it as an appetizer for our table.Chirashi - Two orders. Decent quantity, very fresh fish. See pictures.Chicken Teriyaki - Good, again decent quantity. Added a salmon skin sushi which was pretty good.Chicken Katsu - This was a hit. Again, a decent quantity. Added an order of spicy tuna maki.Salmon Teriyaki - This was surprisingly less quantity. See pictures. The flavors were just okay. We added tempura with this which was a hit. Well almost anything deep fried will be good!Atmosphere - Small local business. Bar, table, and booth seating.Open 6 days a week from 11:30am to 9pm. Closed on Tuesdays. One unisex restroom. Street metered parking. Service - 5 stars. The one waiter worked all the tables. We were patient as we understood today was Christmas. Price - $148 + tip. Slightly expensive for lunch specials, but maybe not since we are in SF...? Anyways, happy holidays.Owner Comment - Congrats on your success at this new location since November of 2024! And since 2012 with your 6+ locations. Can I suggest a website representing all your locations?

Everything was really good from food to service!Dishes:A) 10 pc omakase ($42): delicious and surprisingly very filling! This would've been enough without the extra roll. Some of the fish they gave were salmon, trout, tuna, scallop, and ebi. B) Salmon skin roll: it was goodLogistics:-street parking-accepts reservations-accepts cc-serve was super nice! Provided complimentary edamame for the longer wait times, although, the waiter was pretty fast.

Always a great experience at Amami, at any location. Happy that this SF location opened just a few mins from where I live! The omakase is as fresh and tender as I've had each time, portion sizes were large and were not sacrificed. Added an extra seared toro with uni which was mouth watering. Amami roll was good though not wow'd, will try another selection next time for variety. Chicken katsu and karaage had a reeeaal nice satisfying crisp to it. Def will be back!Service was excellent. Came for date night on a busy Valentine's day, could tell all staff were hustling to get the food out. Super nice people + shoutout to Wendy!

Let's be real, sushi can be ridic expensive. Unless it's a special occasion, spending $300++pp (after tip) for omakase if you're not rolling in OF or tech monies is not feasible for most of us. So, I'm happy to see Chef-owner Alan open another Amami location serving their ballin' on a budget omakase for $42. IMO, he's the pioneer of affordable omakase in the Bay Area when he opened his first Amami location in San Bruno in 2012. OFC, I'm not comparing this to $$$$ omakase places because the "experience" is entirely different but nonetheless, it's delicious, satisfying, and hits without making my wallet cry. Opening in early December 2024, this is Amami's 8th location in the Bay Area, and the second location in the city (took over Belly Burgers). Currently open for takeout and indoor dining. No rezzies. Walk-in only. Arrived on a Thursday night around 7:30 pm and there was no wait. M E N UJapanese cuisine with an extensive menu: Apps, soups, salad, teriyaki, udon, sashimi, rolls, and nigiri. Beer and sake available.BUT, Amami fans know you come here for Alan's 10 pc Nigiri Omakase for $42! Chef-owner Alan sources his fish from the same places higher end sushi bars do. Because of the high volume, he can pass the savings to his customers.(Chef-owner Alan was not in the house and apparently, spends most of his time at his Napa location.) F O O D* Tempura App w/ shrimp and veggies ($10): https://tinyurl.com/ynbf5pjtSolid, the shrimp tempura and veggies (sweet potato, kabocha, eggplant, broccoli, and onions) had a light, crunchy batter. Served with a dashi based dipping sauce. * 10 pc Nigiri Omakase ($42): https://tinyurl.com/4w89bje4- Toro Tartar- Ocean Trout Belly- Kanpachi: Amberjack- Shima Aji: Striped Jack- Madai: Sea Bream- Kurodai: Blackhead Sea Bream- Hamachi Toro: Yellowtail Belly- Norwegian Salmon- Baby Blue Fin Toro- Baby OtoroAdd-ons:* Hamachi Toro Nigiri (2 pc - $11.50): https://tinyurl.com/25z88cm2* Seared Toro w/ Uni (2 pc - $14): https://tinyurl.com/27rp74zk* Baby O-Toro (2 pc - $13) - Chef included an additional piece since the other two cuts of fish weren't large enough by their standards. Their signature nigiri with long slabs of neta (fish) over a tiny portion of shari (sushi rice) was on-point. Fresh, firm and buttery with each nigiri having their own little touches/seasoning. Love that they include a side of fresh wasabi and not the cheapy dry, pasty stuff. While not traditional and nigiri purists may *roll their eyes*, IMO, it's an unbeatable value for the taste and quality. And, it hits the spot all the time!S E R V I C EJason, our server was awesome. Super kind, attentive, and when served, introduced each nigiri. The two sushi chefs were friendly and efficient. They're not slammed...yet so food service was prompt. A M B I A N C EModern and casual with seven tables and eight sushi bar seats.P A R K I N GMetered street parking and there's a lot next door. Overall, Amani serves great value-driven sushi in one of the most expensive cities to live in. Their [nigiri] omakase is the way to go...every...single...time.
