Akizu Sushi Bar & Grill

Fish here tasted very fresh! It was pretty busy for a Tuesday night! There are maybe 10 or so tables, and half were full with lots of takeout orders too. Service is very friendly, but at the same time maybe a little forgetful? My friends ordered a miso soup that never came out. I ordered ikura sushi but received ika sushi. When my server asked about my sushi, I told him it was ika not ikura and it seemed like he went to go check with the sushi chefs even though I said it was ok because I ate it anyway. And then he never came back to resolve anything. However, it didn't bother me because I was charged for ika which was less expensive than ikura. ;)The sushi/nigiri here is very fresh and fish pieces are huge on a small bed of rice (but I like that ratio)!I would come back again even with the little mishaps because the service was still friendly, and food was good. Prices are pretty decent as well.They had Japanese decor on the walls and also some Halloween things which was really cute!Only one bathroom in back.

Came here for lunch with colleagues around noon. We got seated quickly by the very nice staff. The interior of the restaurant is reminiscent of a typical Japanese sushi spot. We received our food pretty fast considering the handful of other guests there.The sashimi was fresh and the rolls had decent flavor. I wasn't necessarily super impressed but I wasn't disappointed either, pretty standard sushi spot. Great spot for a quick and easy lunch close by in the FC area.Definitely wouldn't mind returning back here for a lunch again!

This is our go-to sushi restaurant for take-out. We've been coming here since the pandemic and they've always provided quality, reliable food and in a timely manner! We haven't actually eaten in the restaurant, only because it's easier at home with kids, and the pick-up is super quick and easy with parking right in front of the restaurant. Whether it's cooked dishes such as rice bowls or bentos, sushi rolls, sashimi/nigiri, it's always delicious, fresh, and a decent amount. I've ordered their Fancy Roll Platter twice already and it impressed both times with my guests!I rather drive 15-20min to get here than go to another Japanese restaurants 5min away because I know they'll satisfy my sushi cravings and my hanger!

Aziku is a little gem hidden in a Foster City strip mall. Went there for lunch with a friend. We were greeted warmly. The staff were friendly. I could tell that most of the clientele were regulars, as there was an air of familiarity in their interactions. We had lunch bento boxes. They were delicious and generous. Would go back.

Akizu is located along Beach Park Blvd in Foster City, and definitely a place one will have to purposely venture to, unless you live in the neighborhood. This is quite nice because the plaza's parking lot almost always has free spaces.We arrived when it just opened and therefore, it was pretty empty at first (they had a couple take out orders and a party of 6 came in later). We ordered 4 items for lunch time.101 Roll - Very nice sized roll. It had a refreshing taste and flavor. This roll was finished first compared to the other 2 we ordered.Lion King Roll - Baked roll, it was okay.Flaming Roll - It was sort of an improved Lion King Roll, with some Tobiko eggs on top. Given the choice, I'd choose Flaming Roll over Lion King due to the increase in amount of flavors.Seafood Yaki Udon - The sauce was a bit too salty. I had to drink tea in between bites sometimes. I do love that they include a good amount of various seafood in the dish though.Interior is very well kept and nicely decorated. The service was top notch. We didn't have to ask and the server brought us bowls for sharing for our noodles. He also, without us saying anything, brought us extra napkins, an extra pair of chopsticks as a serving utensil, and regularly refilled our hot tea. The service that Akizu provides is top notch and this Foster City gem is well worth a visit!

I was in Foster City last weekend, and before heading home I decided to swing by Beach Park Plaza. I wanted to see what else the shopping mall had to offer. At 5pm on a Sunday, the parking lot was only 1/3 full. The first place I noticed was Akizu Sushi Bar. Hmm, I should widen my sushi experiences, I shall go in here and try their food. I ordered:-49er Roll: crab, salmon, avocado, lemon slice. It was okay. The lemon slice was thin w/ a few seeds. The flavors blended nicely and the fish was fresh. A bit larger in size.- Red Dragon Roll: shrimp tempura, cucumber, spicy tuna, tobiko, unagi sauce, spicy mayo and green onions. I like this roll, I would order it again. The diced cucumber give each bite a crunch. They give you more sushi in larger sized rolls. Staff was nice, and the interior is pretty. This is my favorite local Japanese restaurant! Every time I come back to Bay Area, I always come here for sushi! I feel sorry that I'm very lazy to write reviews, I should have reviewed this restaurant for long time! I kept coming back because of the good foods: Very fresh sushi , rolls, tempuras and etc... ! The things I always order are fire salmon and hamachi belly! So delicious! Now sometime they have Tora and uni as well! So good! !! People are very friendly too! I'll keep coming back! Thanks!

Akizu is a little hidden gem in a mini strip mall in Foster City! We tend to come here for a quick lunch on the weekends before running errands in the area. This is a good spot for a variety of rolls -- they have a mix of standard and specialty ones ones. They also offer a variety of bento options. Portions are solid and prices are reasonable. Service is also pretty quick. Some of our favorites:+Double salmon: we love salmon and this roll is filled with fresh salmon pieces.+Sunkissed: this is my favorite one because it combines my love of spicy tuna and salmon. I only wish they would give more avocado in this specific one.+Dragon: my husband loves this one because it has shrimp tempura in it. I can tell they freshly fry the tempura because the texture is still extra crispy even though it's in the middle of a roll. +Takoyaki: also freshly fried and has tasty breading. It could use bigger pieces of octopus but we still enjoyed it. Topped with a generous pile of bonito flakes. Since we live nearby we think this will be in our regular rotation of places to eat when we crave some sushi rolls. I probably wouldn't come out of my way here but it's convenient when we are on this side of town for errands.

It was not too packed when my friend & I arrived. Pretty small restaurant, 1 server, and a small kitchen.The Yelp menu is not the same as the restaurant menu btw (some items available on Yelp menu, not on the in-house menu).We were able to get a table right away.There was only one server on the floor. He was diligent and nice but took a long while to greet our table and was not very attentive during meals.Appetizers came before our hot teas.We ordered a miso soup and an avocado roll, and the Agedashi Tofu app. I Would NOT recommend the Agedashi Tofu! The second the server put that dish on our table, I legitimately thought I was being served... weird bananas? Overall: tasted okay, super soggy tempura wrapping on the tofu, not enough pieces of the seaweed garnish, presentation: TRASH... just please refer to my pics for reference. It's so sad.Entrees also took a while to come out after drinks and apps that I had thought my server forgot to put in the order. My friend ordered the Kiss Mango roll (see pic) & I got the Rainbow Blosson Roll (see pic).Both rolls tasted great and the presentation was 100x better than whoever cooked the Agedashi Tofu app.Would I come back? Most likely not, but at least I gave this place a try.

Reliable, good quality sushi. Service was always courteous snd friendly, also through the pandemic. Like for all local businesses: Please order/buy directly from him, not through delivery services, which basically leave them with nothing.
