TLDR : Good food, quick service, nice ambiance AappaKadai is one of the preferred places for wholesome food with spicy curry and appam.Never disappointed if spice is what you are looking for.

Hands down the best pepper chicken curry in the Bay Area! Quick service, non pretentious dining, good portions. Their chapati is also soft and medium sized. I make a quick pit stop here for my protein cravings!

Tried appakadai and so glad we did! This place specializes in appams and all sorts of Indian dishes and is as authentic as it can get! We ended up going here on a Saturday - the ambiance here is cute and simple and service was quick.Once we were seated we ended up ordering:*chicken 65: these were dry and crispy and quite well seasoned. The chicken pieces were not too big but there was plenty to share with the table*chili chicken: if you are looking for something more saucy this was actually delicious and flavorful! The chicken was also quite juicy *chicken lollipop: these were my less favorite apps, and I would skip. The chicken was nice and juicy but I found the seasoning to be lacking* baby corn app: this had the chili chicken sauciness which I liked and this was nice and crispy which was really nice* appam with chefs special chicken curry: the appam was nice and fresh and well made! The chicken curry was yummy and the chicken was juicy and flavorful * mutton roast : this was really yummy and one of my favorites we ordered! This was super well made, juicy and really well flavoredOverall awesome food today and would recommend to go back!

We have been coming here fairly regularly, however it's my first time leaving a review. Looks like the chef might have changed.As vegetarians we tried the following : Thatte idli : 5/5. This was by far the best dish. The sambhar wasn't that great, but the chutney made up for it.Rassam - 2/5. We have always Rassam here , but something was way off today.Poondu Kolumbu - 3/5. We have always loved this dish , but it seemed watered down today and didnt have the same taste. Appam - 3/5.Idiyappam - 5/5

Ordered two Onam spl, for 4 adults. It took one hour to fulfill the order, and ended up getting only one order because of some mess up. With kids and old people waiting, we spent more than an hour here. No bandwidth to get the other order through delivery Apps as it's already 2 pm. I wish they were more organized and quicker (not like they have to make this new for every orders they just have to fill up boxes and pack).Received only one idiappam in one Onam order meant for two ppl. Hopefully it tastes better.

This places has amazing South Indian Thali both in veg and non veg. Thalis are available Monday to Friday. Weekends they have special menu where they have Big Pomfret Fry and various other fried fish. Their Nandu Masala Crab is delicious and highly recommend if you are a crab lover.The spring Dosa, Paniyaram and Appams with different curries are great options to try. The service is fairly quick and ambiance is good!

This place has been like a Bar Area institution for Chettinad cuisine. I've tried so many of their menu items over the years. The Mutton Bone Soup, the Chicken Chettinad, Mutton Sukka Varival, Chef's special shrimp curry, dosas, appams, and even their Indo-Chinese dishes like the Egg Fried Noodles are all good. But the star item for me and my family is the Nandu (Crab) Masala served usually only on weekends.

One more great meal. Paneer noodles were a little disappointing. The paneer seemed not very well done.

Order a day head for dine in. They are taking so much time for the dishes that need not have to be.
