Surprising little neighborhood store serving the children and the kids in us adults in Belmont. Found this place when my hojicha latte go to place was closed. Situated right next door to Jiro's Cafe on Alameda De Las Pulgas.Enjoyed the milk tea that I purchased. Was thrilled that grass jelly was an option on the add ones list. Pleasantly surprised that the prices were more than reasonable. Also available but did not try their frozen yogurt bar... though it was tempting! Next time.

Ya-Ua Yogurt & Boba Tea is located on the street view of a busy main road. I did not realized how out of the way this spot was, until I was going down the long street it was on. Parking is street parking, but I was lucky and got a spot right out front. The exterior and interior was simple. Not much service either, they looked surprised when I walked in and it felt like they just wanted me in and out quickly. I originally wanted a jasmine green milk tea, which they said they do not have it anymore. Instead of suggesting a green milk tea - the employee just intently stared at me, so I asked If they had a green milk tea instead, which he responded with that they do. He rang me up quickly and told the other employee to make my drink. I looked around and they had a 'Pumping Station' for their frozen yogurt, but the machines did not looked like it had been used in a long time or it even worked. As I was pondering, I received my drink shortly after. My green milk tea with boba tasted okay. It had a good sweetness to it with 50% sugar. It was creamy with only a hint of tea taste, which I enjoyed. It had a graininess to it, which was off-putting. Overall, decent milk tea (besides the graininess) and size for the price.

This shop has some limited 20 minute street parking right in front. The shop is not terribly large and I don't recall a place to sit in there...I got the black milk tea and realized right after I ordered that there was no option to adjust sweetness or ice (at least, I didn't see it on the menu and the person at the counter didn't ask). My drink was definitely on the sweeter side so I hope if there is a next time I could adjust sweetness. I wasn't a super fan of the drink, something tasted artificial (maybe it was the cloying sweetness) that I don't usually taste in other bubble tea.The boba itself was okay, not super chewy but not unchewable.

Interior: Pink, small, clean, and cute! Green milk tea: 7/10. Rich, creamy, and tastes really good even though it's made straight from powder. Like you'd actually see the powder sitting at the bottom of your drink so it's definitely not made from actual tea.Garlic noodles: 8/10. 7$ for a small serving for 1 person in a small container. It tastes and smells good but I thought it was a bit too salty and the noddles were a bit too firm for my liking.

GET THE YOGURT SMOOTHIES!Ya-Ua means "yogurt" in Vietnamese. This is the only place in the Peninsula I know of that sells Vietnamese-style yogurt smoothies. (Bambu in the South Bay also sells it but it's on their secret menu--the Bambu in San Mateo does not). Vietnamese-style yogurt is more sour/tart than store bought yogurt, but not as thick as Greek yogurt. So far I have tried their peach flavored and kiwi flavored yogurt smoothies and both were amazing, especially the kiwi one! The texture and range of flavors are better than Bambu's along with being less expensive--My goal is to try all the flavors. The Vietnamese coffee here is also authentic and worth it! As of when this was written the yogurt machines were still down, so this rating is for the yogurt smoothies and Viet coffee, but either way you can get froyo ice cream anywhere else anyway, which is not the point of this review :P

WEAK Tea, Weak Seal, Weak Service! Holder with two drinks tipped over and exploded. I sent my kids back in to get napkins and replacement while I tackled the mess and he charged them! The seal should have held, but he said it wasn't his fault and of course they needed to pay again. I've seen people turn a boba upside down and not have a leak! Ridiculous. Also in the 20 minutes it took to clean up there wasn't a single other customer. Not shocking. Bad business.
