What a wonderful spot in San Mateo for comforting, Italian food. My favorite dishes are the Carpaccio di Manzo, Mafalde alla Genovese , and tiramisu. Love the food! Love the owners and staff! Manuela and Francesco are so sweet. They remembered me and my siblings after just two times dining there. The place gets packed so try to make a reservation and go support this local gem!

After our positive takeout experience, we were looking forward to dine-in here.Caesar Salad: comes with anchovies, but a bit heavily dressed. Would skip next time.Fried calamari: Batter was light, but wished it had a bit more seasoning.Lasagna: Still very solid and would order again.Papparadelle with beef ribs ragout: Pasta was on the al dente side, but overall well made.Petrale Sole: One of our favorite dishes last time and it didn't disappoint the second time! Fish was very buttery and tender. A must order!Veal scallopini: Veal was very tender with a nice Marsala sauce. For the price, I think it was a bit on the smaller side.Overall, I thought we had over ordered for 4 adults, but we ended up finishing everything. Portions are adequate, but not generous so I think at least one pasta/entree per person if you are doing family style is a must.Service is friendly and many patrons seemed to be regulars. Bathroom was clean, but no diaper changing table.

This Italian restaurant was a major disappointment. I had high hopes for an authentic and flavorful meal, but the food fell far short of expectations. The dishes lacked freshness, and the flavors were flat and uninspired. It was clear that little attention was paid to the quality of the ingredients, which is essential for good Italian cuisine.The biggest letdown was the special, which had been heavily advertised by the staff. Not only did it fail to live up to the description, but it also felt poorly executed and completely lackluster. The flavors didn't come together, and it tasted as if it had been rushed or thrown together without care. A special should showcase the best of the chef's abilities, but this one was far from it.While the ambiance of the restaurant was decent and the service was acceptable, neither could make up for the subpar food. A meal at an Italian restaurant should be an experience filled with rich flavors and fresh ingredients, and unfortunately, this place failed to deliver on both fronts.Overall, it was an incredibly underwhelming experience. I had been looking forward to a great meal, but I left feeling disappointed and unsatisfied. With so many better options out there, I don't see myself returning to this restaurant anytime soon.

My bff took me here my birthday. I love Italian food and this place will always be on my list now! We went on a Saturday afternoon where it wasn't as busy yet. The owner was friendly & was able to talk to us about his restaurant and asked him for his recommendations on what to eat. Loved their pastas & tiramisu was chef's kiss I loved their tables as they are handcrafted and all the decor! His wife is actually an artist & makes some of the pieces that's inside. Thank you for an amazing lunch & desserts!

Gr8 ambience, friendly owners, beautiful artwork by wife (Manuela), & of course, delicious food!By the way all the tables were made by her during the pandemic and all the artwork is for sale!

I came here with my wife for my birthday. It was a great experience. Very good food, clean and an amazing service. We are planning to go back at this Italian restaurant.

The wait was pretty long for the food even on a week day. the food was okay.. the calamari was tasteless... the chicken dish was good. The place is pricey right in the heart of downtown.

One of my daughters graduated college and we decided to try Vespucci Restaurante Italiano to celebrate this achievement! The six of us were greeted warmly by the waitstaff. The inside of this restaurant is filled with beautiful fine works of art. It's like walking into a museum! You can tell the owners care about the restaurant's decor and ambiance. We ordered a bottle of wine for this occasion. Medium to full body with a smooth finish. It was a good, Italian wine. Perfect way to start our meal. Below is what we had ordered and its rating.Babone 2020 - 4/5Calamari fritti - tasty, crispy calamari with a nice tomato sauce for dipping. 4/5Carpaccio Di Manzo - good enough that I didn't get a piece to try! Maybe a few more slices would have been nice. 4/5Mafalde alla Genovese - my sister and I both ordered this. Hearty short rib stew with house made knife cut pasta. The sauce was a bit sweeter than I would have liked, but all around a satisfying dish. Though some vegetables would have been nice. 4/5Rigatoni Al Salmone - I didn't try it but was told it was good. 4/5Scaloppine Di Vitello - I tried this and the meat was tender and sauce was quite good. 5/5Risotto Al Frutti Di Mare - my bf had this and really liked this dish. The plate was clean after he was done! 5/5Ravioli ricotta e spinaci - the person who ate this was pleased with this dish. Though she would have liked an option for ravioli with meat filling. Still a tasty meal. 4/5I would rate this meal, a 4.5/5. I rounded up because we were well cared for from start to finish. They take pride in every dish that comes out of their kitchen. Their pastas are made fresh. They value quality all the way! Truly, an authentic Italian experience! And at the end of our meal, we were able to take nice photos with the artwork in the background. Unlike the other reviews, I thought the food at this place was just OK. Our group ordered cioppino, fillet of sole, and various pastas. They are not bad but are also not the best we ever had. The bruschetta was too oily. The tiramisu was the best dish. Our server was nice and kind.

Excellent service and the food was delicious! I was worried when it wasn't crowded but it soon filled up, I'll be back
