If you're looking for a place that feels like a college bar but serves high end wine and food, Verjus is for you. The food and wine our party had was excellent, but the ambiance severely retracted from our experience. It was incredibly loud. We sat in the back room and it was still loud to talk comfortably. The sever was also kinda rude. She seemed disappointed we weren't interested in the most expensive wines and kept pressuring us to spend more money. Was it worth it? Sure it was a fun night. Would I go again? Probably not. There are many great restaurants in SF where I can actually talk to my friends. All that said, the food and wine were really excellent

This place was rather disappointing for the quantity of food itself and its price tag. Regardless, I'm giving it a 4 due to the overall ambiance and our rad waitress who gave us real recommendations vs trying to upsell us. She is also a sommelier who enhanced our experience by providing us with delicious glasses of wine from reds to dessert.Among the dishes we ordered, I'd say the dessert (mille) was my favorite! All the main course were just okay and nothing particularly stood out.

So glad this place reopened bc I wasn't able to check them out before. Quaint spot close to Chinatown and fidi. Only had time for a drink bc dinner was right after. The food menu looked really interesting, the mentaiko deviled eggs looked interesting. Went with the extra brut champagne bc I was in a celebratory mood. The vibe is casual, and dark. Fun place. Def would come back.

Cozy neighborhood wine bar serving small plates in a vibrant, casual atmosphere. Verjus is all about excitement, curiosity, and conversation. Love the fact that they do a weekly changing menu of bistro classics and bar snacks. They use seasonal local produce, an assortment of artisanal cheeses and housemade charcuterie. A great place to hang with friends or bring a date! Great addition to the North Beach area!

lovely interior, one of my favorites in the city actually. service was a little slow and not friendly lol and some of the food was okay, not anything crazy. BUT, the bread + butter + anchovy and the dessert... especially the dessert. one of the best I've had!! so interesting! mix of a flan and kind of french toast exterior?

Walked in at 5pm for dinner on a Friday for 2 and got seated in 5-10 min. It got pretty packed quickly after so I recommend coming at 5 or a little earlier. Vibes are immaculate - I felt like I was in NYC from the dimly lit setting and all the chatter. Great place for a girls night or an intimate date. Food:- Bread + butter - loved the French butter- Potato (pommes) - was okay as light appetizer- Duck confit - tough, wouldn't get again- French omelette - sooo creamy on the inside. Would come back just for this. Need to say it's not very big. - Pain perdu (caramel toast with ice cream) - another one I'd come back for. crusty outside with soft inside, hot toast with cold ice cream = perfect combo!!

Verjus is tucked away on a charming block in the Financial District, and it immediately struck me with its blend of elegance, both inside and out. The atmosphere transports you to somewhere along the East Coast or even Europe--it's that captivating. We visited on a Saturday evening, opting for a walk-in rather than a reservation. The waitlist begins at 4:45 PM, and food orders are taken from 5 PM. Fortunately, we arrived early enough to secure a spot. The wine selection is solid, but there was a slight misstep when we were seated. The staff handed us only the bottle menu without offering the option of wines by the glass. They didn't inquire about our preferences and assumed we wanted a bottle. I'll admit I could've asked, but it would have been helpful if they had taken a moment to explain the options, especially since the wine bar wasn't crowded at the time.As a result, we ended up with an entire bottle of white wine, only to realize later that it was sweet when we had explicitly requested a dry white. The staff, while seemingly knowledgeable, didn't quite hit the mark with their recommendation. We did enjoy a few snacks, including the bread with butter + anchovies, and the mussel bites. Both were delicious, but the overall dining experience was disappointed by a sense of being rushed. The staff seemed eager to clear our plates and would frequently come by to take our items away, almost as if they were waiting for us to finish and leave. It was very unpleasant, especially considering the fact that we had ordered a whole bottle of wine--hardly something you'd finish quickly.Overall, while I appreciated the ambiance and the tasty small bites, the service left much to be desired. It was a bit of a letdown, but the atmosphere still made the visit worthwhile.

Absolutely amazing! The service was absolutely wonderful, and the food was incredible. The cassoulet was genuinely the best thing I've eaten in years. Not trying to be dramatic, but I cannot recommend the cassoulet enough.
