Waited about 20 mins on a Saturday night for a party of 4. There's only street parking but we were able to find a spot right in front of the restaurant. The server/hostess is super friendly and accommodating to our party. This place is one of the most unique ramens I've had as most ramens are cooked in a pork broth but this place uses beef broth!! They're most known for offering bone marrow to their ramen so we had to try it for ourselves. Most of us got the spicy ramen and it might be my top ramen broth I've ever tried. It was rich but yet not too heavy. Don't get me started on their soft ramen egg... literally the perfect runny consistency. The bone marrow also added a lot of depth and i added it to each spoonful of my ramen broth and noodles to have the perfect bite! I will say that personally, after a while, the bone marrow became too much for me and I wish I got one to share with a friend. I also love that they have mushrooms as a topping. Will definitely recommend to friends who visit the area!

Hands down one of the best ramen places I've had outside of Japan. Broth was so rich and creamy! We came at open so didn't need to wait and there was street parking nearby. Restaurant is small and cozy so I imagine normally the wait could be long. P.S the crispy mushroom was SOOOO good, I sometimes still think of it

11/10!!!Everything about this place hit the mark!Appetizers:Karaage - 10/10Well seasoned, crispy (not oily), super tender meat insideCrispy Mushroom- 10.5/10Super light, crispy, delicious and meaty mushroom inside, very tasty!!! Ramen - 10.5/10Traditional ramen comes with egg (added garlic oil and bone marrow): The broth is rich, tasty, balanced and has depth! The meat was super tender. I recommend scooping some of the bone marrow to eat on top of the noodles than leaving it in the broth. Spicy ramen comes with egg (added garlic oil and bone marrow). My date loved this!! Know that it does have quite a kick! Ramen was SOOOO good that we drank our broth bowl dry!! Portions are big and my date ended up not ordering extra ramen to eat in his broth. Service was friendly and efficient. This is an intimate restaurant where you come to eat delicious authentic food, and not a place to dwell. Which is good for quick table turnover. Price - very reasonable!!Easy to find parking nearby!

Overall super solid! Excited to have one near me. Beef karrage was crispy & super tender on the inside, starch velveted meat texture was nicely done. The classic ramen didn't disappoint either! Agedashi tofu was okay, would personally skip this one next time I go.

Love the ramen here. We had the traditional paitan ramen and the spicy ramen. Both were excellent. The beef slices are a little chewy at first. I recommend dunking them in the broth upon receiving your bowl and giving them a few extra minutes to cook. I got garlic oil for the traditional paitan and it definitely added some flare. I also got a side of bone marrow, which has a decent amount of marrow inside, but felt like I couldn't appreciate it that much because the broth was so rich to begin with. Will probably skip it next time. We tried the crispy mushrooms appetizer too. It was super light and crunchy, and came with a good amount of mushrooms. It's on a street with little foot traffic so you shouldn't have to wait long to get a table. Service is good and food comes out pretty quick. Overall great ramen spot in soma.

Ushi Taro Ramen | San Francisco 1. Spicy Ramen -- beef bone broth, roasted beef fillet, oyster mushrooms, onset egg, house red chili, and truffle 2. Crispy Mushrooms -- himeji mushroom in light tempura batter with Ushi Taro Ramen in San Francisco is a cozy Japanese restaurant known for its rich and flavorful ramen bowls made with slow-cooked broths. Located in the Lower Nob Hill, it offers a variety of ramen options, including tonkotsu, miso, and spicy! The restaurant itself is super small but the ramen is top tier in terms of quality. I got my hands on the spicy ramen and the crispy mushrooms!

We passed by this place on the drive home and were super intrigued because we've never had a beef based ramen before. This seems to be a second location since there's another in SF, but this SOMA location is pretty out of the way. It doesn't seem like the type of area where you'd just be walking around since there's not that many stores on the street. As appetizers, we tried the beef karaage and crispy mushrooms. Both were a bit on the oily side, but still super delicious! I was impressed with how generous they were on the amount of crispy mushrooms. For the ramen, we tried the classic paitan with bone marrow and hiyashi chuka. My favorite was the paitan because it had the perfect balance of flavors with the beef broth. I thought the beef fillet in the ramen was good, but I definitely missed the fatty chashu in typical pork-based ramens. The hiyashi chuka was a cold noodle that we were interested in trying. The noodles were cooked well, but the broth was on the saltier side. Overall, I definitely recommend coming here if you're interested in trying a beef based ramen!

I've gone to the other location before, but I was happy to see that Ushi Taro opened up another location in the SoMA. I've been raving to all my friends and coworkers that I really loved this place, especially because you can order bone marrow with your ramen to jazz it up.My bestie and I (we both work together) ended up taking an uber to get Ushi Taro for lunch! It was her first time here, and we came around 11:30-12ish. There was only 1 other party in the restaurant, but it did start getting busy when it was around lunch time. This location is on a busy street, so parking can be tricky to find. I'd recommend getting here a bit early to find street parking if you can. Otherwise, ride share is your friend!Compared to the other location, this one seemed slightly smaller but it did accommodate more parties against the wall and there were tables scattered around the restaurant. The decor was more modern and simple, which I liked. My bestie and I got seated along the wall where we were able to sit with right next to each other. There was only 1 server present, but he was very attentive and made sure to check on us throughout our meal. We both ended up ordering the following:-1 Spicy Ramen $17+$10 bone marrow+$2 for black garlic oil-1 Spicy Miso Kimchi $18+10 bone marrowI don't remember what our total was since my bestie ended up paying up front and I sent her my portion after. It was probably between $40-50 for two people.I've had the spicy ramen before and it's delicious! I absolutely love the steak you get alongside all the toppings it comes with. The bone marrow and the black garlic oil definitely hit the spottttt. It's not everyday you can order both at the same time. The broth was rich, the perfect level of spice, and perfect on a cold day. My bestie ended up liking her ramen too and thoroughly enjoyed the bone marrow too!Everything was perfectly balanced and it was a great portion. Ushi Taro is on the top of my list when it comes to ramen. They elevate ramen so well and everything is seasoned just right. Definitely recommend trying this place out (at either location). I believe the prices are fair for the quality you get and the service here is amazing!

I've been a long-time Ushi Taro fan so I'm excited about this new location in SoMa!Everything in their menu is exactly like their original location in Sunset. My favorite thing to get is the Spicy Ramen: spicy beef bone broth with tender beef cuts, thin mushroom slices, green onion, truffle, and egg. This ramen is perfectly spicy and you can tell that there's a lot of care that goes into making it.If you're not feeling ramen, I recommend the Gyudon or Beef Karaage. Service is amazing and quick and the location is reminiscent of traditional Japanese ramen shops, which all make the dining experience that much better. You have to try this spot out!

I love this location by Golden Gate park so I'm glad there's another one here! The beef is always tender and prepared so well, and matches the quality at Richmond. I didn't love the flavor of the spicy one, but still enjoyed the surrounding elements such as the fresh chewy noodles and the egg is actually marinated very well and cooked soft boiled to perfection. I always stop in when the location is convenient!
