SF tourists from the Chicago area checking in. After a packed day, we were close to ordering delivery to the hotel are but are SO happy we ventured out on a Saturday night. Tommaso's was busy, but our family was very well taken care of during the 20 minutes until a table opened up. Once seated, I let the server know we were on borrowed time with our 8-year-old and he took GREAT care of us, getting our order out quickly . The Caesar salad, pizza, spaghetti, and string beans were all fantastic, as was their special house red blend wine. It was only because our little guy was crashing that we didn't sample dessert, but I hope we'll be back soon. HIGHLY recommended!!

I dined here on February 1st around 8-9 PM with two friends, one visiting from out of state. I have never experienced such blatant disrespect at a restaurant--especially one that claims to offer "warm, family-focused Italian hospitality."From the start, the service was unprofessional and unwelcoming. Our waiter (middle-aged, bloodshot eyes, red face) was unfriendly and unhelpful. He brought out dirty appetizer plates and when we asked him for new ones he began to inspect the ones we said were dirty. When our entrées arrived, he never cleared the dirty plates. Instead, he placed our food down among them, forcing my friend to move seats just to have a clean space. Throughout the meal, he never acknowledged me or one of my friends--only our white friend.I told this lady (in the image above - not my photo) as I was paying that that was the worst service I'd ever had and that I was super disappointed to experience this after ownership changed because this was a spot I liked to frequent before. Her response "Oh". I've managed restaurants before and in what world is that a response to a customer telling you they had an unpleasant experience at your establishment. The message was clear: if you're not white, don't expect to be treated with basic courtesy here.AND THE FOOD WAS JUST OKAY.

OMG! Tommaso's, where have you been all my life I just had the best dinner with friends and family at Tommaso's. This place is an old school San Francisco Italian institution. The dining room has such an historic collection of relics from decades of great meals in one of the oldest neighborhoods in San Francisco. We loved the cozy seating nooks on either side framing paintings by a local artist who painted them in exchange for meals. The food is amazing! We had the seasonal special white pizza with Gorgonzola, Pears, and Pine Nuts which was so luxurious. The Margherita Pizza was heavenly, perfectly balanced red sauce, mozzarella and lots of fresh basil. We also got both Antipasto Platters which were a great cold starter for the table. They have a wide Italian Wine selection of course. The cannoli are wonderfully crispy, freshly piped with either chocolate or vanilla ricotta cream with chocolate chips, pistachios and a hint of Orange. Service was warm and friendly, I feel like family after one visit.Thank you Crotti Family, I'll soon be returning to Tommaso's for another family dinner.

Came here with a couple friends during my visit to SF, and it did not disappoint. This place very much feels like an old school Italian restaurant, as do the servers. Our server was super friendly, and chatted me up when he saw me with my Lakers hoodie on. As for the food, I tried the Penne Alla Boscaiola, and I'd definitely recommend! It was very flavorful and the sauce was amazing, but the pasta also didn't feel too heavy or buttery. Definitely give this place a try when you're in the area!

I finally got to visit Tommaso's, a restaurant that had been on my want to go list for a while, and it did not disappoint! Our group of four was seated right away, which was a great start to our evening. We ordered two pizzas and two pastas. The Super Deluxe pizza was a flavor explosion with its toppings of mushrooms, anchovies, peppers, green onions, ham, sausage, and black olives. Each bite was a delightful surprise. The Parma Prosciutto pizza, however, was mediocre. Unless you're a prosciutto lover, I'd recommend skipping this one.For pasta, we had the Lasagna, which reminded us of home-cooked comfort food, and the Fettuccine with Prawns, which offered a harmonious blend of alfredo and marinara flavors!

In searching for a local dinner spot on Yelp this place popped up. I went online to check the menu and found out tonight was the last night the restaurant would be open, as the long standing family owned restaurant had found a new owner to take over in 2025. That said, the hubby and I decided it was a must try. Waited an hour for our table. Standing outside in the misting rain they gave us glasses of Chianti, we watched from outside all the staff attentively hug the loyal locals. We got seated at the family style table, asked the locals next to us what were the "must try's". Had delicious pizza - a perfect spinach salad, listened to many locals stand up and give cheers to the family owners who were all working their butts off, watched the kitchen staff work their magic around the wood fire stone pizza oven effortlessly. Totally felt like a local was immersed in this cozy "take me to Italy" interior and pray the new owners keep this nostalgic place alive and kicking. Will be back when in town - your fans from Colorado

We decided to come here because I haven't been here in over 30 years and with all the restaurants closing, I wanted to get there in case it happened. The place was a lot smaller than I remembered. Perhaps they closed off half the restaurant. It took awhile before someone came over to help us. We had to ask the maitre'd to get someone. I ordered the spaghetti with marinara sauce but I actually think it was a meat sauce. My daughter order roast chicken with buttered penne. Instead they brought her this shredded chicken. I think the best thing out of the whole meal was the olive oil and balsamic vinegar that came with the bread. Although, my dish was okay.

I'll answer the important question... New owner, same amazing lasagna. Whew! The redesign is cool, it seems to retain enough of the old place, with a fresh makeover, but this commentary is just to meet yelp's character requirement. The only thing important is this lasagna carries on.
