Indian food served Michelin style. Cost & Size aside, the food was Awesome. The Malai Morel(Mushroom) & Edmame/Asparagus kebabs were tasty, Duck Sheek kebab a bit wanting. The Gunpowder SeaBass was beautifully done, ran out of gunpowder - would have liked a little more. Lamb Shank was to die-for, mutton falling of the bone, top notch gravy, and flavourful rice - a worthy Biryani upgrade. The Nolen gur(Palm Jaggery) icecream took me back home.Cozy place in SFO Marina. Top notch service. Definitely pricey, but a must try for special occasions. Will be back.

We recently visited Tiya for an office celebration with a group of 11. Since we couldn't make a reservation well in advance, we were a bit worried, but the manager was incredibly accommodating. Even though we had to split between two booths, he made sure we were comfortable and took the time to walk us through the dining options--à la carte, prix fixe, or family-style. We ultimately chose the family-style dinner, which turned out to be a great decision. From the start, the service was warm and attentive. The staff was friendly, and our server patiently explained each dish. To kick things off, we received complimentary crisps and papadums, which was a nice touch.Among the appetizers, my favorites were the chicken gushtaba, which was flavorful; the lamb keema with masala babka, which was rich and comforting; the cauliflower pakoda and the dahi paapdi chaat. These dishes really stood out, and I would definitely recommend them. We also tried the shrimp koliwada, jackfruit taco and paneer bhurji roll, which were interesting and well-executed.For the main course, we had butter chicken served with rice and naan. While the main dishes were solid, the small plates were the real stars of the meal. For the drinks, I tried the Calpis mocktail, and I'd highly recommend it. It was refreshing! For dessert, we had both a chocolate-based dessert and an Indian-inspired Tres Leches. The Tres Leches was hands-down the highlight--it had just the right amount of sweetness with an Indian twist that made it unique and memorable. To top it all off, Chef Pujan came out to chat with us, sharing insights about the dishes and adding a personal touch to our experience.Beyond the food, the ambience was absolutely beautiful--warm lighting, elegant decor, and a cozy yet stylish atmosphere. It's a perfect spot for a date night or a special occasion.Overall, I'd give Tiya a solid 4 stars. The service was excellent, the small plates were outstanding, and the desserts were a real treat!

I recently went to Tiya with a friend on a weeknight and both of us left impressed with their elevated, modern Indian cuisine. The food was beautiful, creative, and overall flavorful. The interior was very nice and elevated. The service was timely and clearly aimed at a fine dining experience. My big regret is we didn't try any of the creative, if expensive, cocktails Tiya offers. We ordered the goat ghee tacos, paneer bhurji roll, lamb shank, a side of garlic naan, and the mango malai. Goat ghee tacos: 4/5. Super flavorful, loved the chettinadu birria sauce. I do think the portion was a bit small for the price. Paneer roll: 5/5 and my favorite plate. Great presentation, delicious spiced dipping sauce, so good. Lamb shank: 3.75/5. Good sized plate, we even had some leftovers. It was very good, just not as spiced and good as the other two dishes. Garlic naan: 2/5. The naan was fine. Very crispy. Despite being garlic naan, it didn't taste particularly garlicky to me, and I thought the price was quite steep for the taste and amount of naan. Mango malai: 5/5. Gorgeous dessert, very creamy and chilled, a great blend of fruit and sweetness!

Tiya offers a take on contemporary indian cuisine without compromising on authenticity. The restaurant's interior makes a bold statement with its verdant green palette, while thoughtfully designed rotating seats foster an intimate dining atmosphere. One small issue I had was that I felt a bit rushed by the staff while deciding, but it may have been me misconstruing their eagerness. The kitchen's prowess, particularly with their much-buzzed-about cocktail program, meets the hype.Yogurt Chaat:According to the server, the chaat is their most popular small plate. The inclusion of strawberry brightened the dish and cut down on the yogurts richness. However, while I found it to be well-made, I didn't find it to be elevated enough for the price of admission.Tiger Shrimp Xec Xec:My favorite of the small plates. This dish is just packed with umami goodness. The combination of the miso and succulent, plump shrimp is perfect. There's also a wonderful heat that just elevates the dish further.Chicken Wings:My least favorite of the small plates, and of the night. This had potential, but is just poorly executed. The batter is far too oily and has no distinct taste. There isnt much chicken (in fact, there's too much batter) so I couldn't truly appreciate its flavor. The accompanying chutney is too subtle, the yogurt too plain, and neither do a good job of balancing out the oiliness.Marina Cocktail:An indian twist on a pina colada. I was worried that it would be overly sweet, but it was just right. Creamy and smooth.Mission District Cocktail:A unique cocktail inspired by tacos. I enjoyed the spicy salsa verde which accentuated every sip. Although, I dont know if its my favorite pairing with already spicy indian food.Embarcadero Cocktail:A fruity cocktail which hits you with some herbacious notes at the tail-end of every sip. I enjoyed it, but didn't love it.Gun-Powder Sea Bass:I only had a couple of bites of this, but I found it to be good. The bass is beautifully cooked. Although, I take issue with the plating. I think the dish is most complete when every bite of the bass includes some foam and chutney. But their physical separation on the plate fails to guide diners to this conclusion. This spatial disconnect diminishes portion size and fragments what should be a cohesive composition.Butter Chicken:A homerun. The texture of this curry is insane, almost silken. The curry is nutty, buttery, and rich. The chicken is juicy as well.Lamb Shank Roast:Where to begin. The curry has precisely balanced spices and calculated heat, and evokes memories of my mother's cooking. The fluffy and aromatic pulao is the perfect vessel for the rich curry. And the meat is just fall-off-the-bone tender. A real tour de force.Masala Chai:This chai was $10. Was it great? Yes. It reminded me of the tea my mom makes with ceylon tea leaves. But was it worth $10? Probably not.Tender Coconut Payasam:Im typically not a fan of cold desserts after dinner. But this dessert was just the right level of sweetness, not too cold, and ultra refreshing. A great way to end the meal.

Wow, what a hidden gem of a restaurant. Some of the best Indian food I had in recent dining and some of the best cocktails I have had in SF too! First of all, the inside is beautiful. We went as a group of 3 and ordered 5 small plates, 2 large plates, and 2 sides and it was plenty of food to keep us full. The dishes were also paced very well which gave us ample time to chat.Cocktails- Marina (5/5): probably my favorite cocktail of the night. The mango foam on top was so light and made the flavor profile of the drink a bit creamy and fun. The drink itself was phenomenal- Chinatown (5/5): a close second, with the Embarcadero. This one was very light and refreshing, tasted clean- Embarcadero (5/5): also loved this cocktail so much. It has nice notes of citrus and a fruity flavor.- Japantown (4/5): this cocktail was a bit stronger, definitely more floral with higher AMB- Japanese Gin & Tonic (2/5): only cocktail miss of the night. wayyy too strong and bitterFood!- Yogurt chaat (5/5): fav dish of the night. phenomenal flavor and textures, light and airy yet delicate- Hamachi Bhel (5/5): fish was so soft and tender and really soaked up the flavors of the tangy buttermilk sauce (so thin and light). A lot of depth to this dish- Cauliflower Pakoda (4/5): really nice and crispy, but not as standout as the first two. Would get this again though. Tasted very clean- Paneer Roll (3/5): texture was there, just wish the paneer flavor was a bit more prevalent. I think I prefer non-scrambled paneer. The dish was also a tad bit spicy for me- Parmesan Roti (2.5/5): good but truffle did not really go with the roti, and it was also a bit on the drier side (not as flaky, buttery, and chewy as I would have liked). Was nice to eat with the butter chicken- Butter Chicken (3/5): flavors were there but chicken was a bit overcooked, and flavor was more one dimensional. Still yummy though, good with the saffron rice and naan- Gunpowder Sea Bass (4/5): favorite entree of the night. The fish was so soft and flaky. Portion was really small for the price though- Garlic Naan (4/5): the naan was very crispy and thin if you like that (I do!) but wish there was a bit more garlic flavor- Saffron rice (4/5): just your classic rice. but still delicious, especially soaked in the richness of the butter chickenOverall, would come back again for drinks and apps. Perfect place for date night or catching up with friends!

Blown away 11/10 meal. Very worth the money. Favorite courses: 1. Butter Chicken (the meat is incredibly smoky), 2. Pani Puri (loved their take on this), 3) Lamb Keema, 4) Yogurt Chat, 5) dessert course (partner and I each ordered one of the desserts). I wouldn't return for the desserts but they were refreshing after the meal!Great service and ambiance. Great restaurant for a date or celebration.

I went to Tiya for my boyfriend's birthday as he loves Indian food, and it was a amazing experience! Not only is the inside of the restaurant a beautiful blue green color but there are lovely pops of gold accents and dim lighting with elevates the feel of the place. For food we decided to get the tasting menu and opted for the Butter Chicken, Lamb Keema, and the Tender Coconut Payasam. The Lamb Keema was my absolute favorite as it was perfectly spiced and minced to perfection. It was also served with Pav bread which was buttery and delicious. My second favorite menu item was the coconut payasam which was incredibly creamy and sweet. Definitely recommend coming to Tiya for amazing Indian food!

My team had been talking about trying Tiya for months, and we decided to book a table for our end-of-year celebration. Our first impression upon entering the restaurant was that the jewel-toned decor set a moody yet chic ambiance. Everything on the a-la-carte menu looked delicious, and our friendly server walked us through the small and large plates, pointing out favorites that were sure to be a hit. For our group of four, we ordered the tandoori avocado, cauliflower pakoda, pork belly, butter chicken, and poblano dumplings. We also ordered a round of creative cocktails inspired by different SF neighborhoods - I ordered the Marina, a creative spin on mango lassi. Our drinks came out first, and the Marina was a showstopper with a cloud of sweet mango lassi "foam" floating atop rum. Each dish was brought out one at a time, starting with the tandoori avocado. The combination of flavors and textures - salty, smoky, crunchy - was unlike anything I've ever tasted, and I immediately understood why the tandoori avocado is one of Tiya's most popular menu items. My second favorite dish was the butter chicken because Tiya's version featured a sweet and slightly smoky sauce that enveloped each tender piece of chicken. Tiya also scores major points for presentation, as each plate was meticulously arranged and embellished with edible flowers.A few opportunities for improvement are the naan was on the thin and greasy side, and the dishes we ordered didn't pack as much of a punch with the spice level as I was expecting (on the flip side, I experienced very unique flavors and local inspiration - such as the avocado tandoori - that differentiated Tiya's dishes from other Indian cuisine). I hope to come back soon, perhaps to try Tiya's tasting menu.

We were a group of 17 and from the reservations to the actual dinner, it went very smoothly. The staff was extremely attentive, professional and the best part was Pujan-the owner/chef who took a personal interest in preparing the dishes and explaining to all of our friends the detail preparation. We all loved the various dishes but my all time favorites were the lamb keema and malai morel. The spice level was optimum since I had guests who were not of Indian origin and were very apprehensive about this. The rasmalai tres leches was great to cap off the dinner. Will highly recommend Tiya as a place to celebrate a special occasion!
