Came here around 10:30 PM for some drinks and grub after watching Hamilton with my boyfriend. Since it's the holiday season, they had cute lights and decor everywhere. It was maybe still 70% full at this hour on a Wednesday night, so not a bad crowd. The kitchen was making its last calls when we walked in, and the staff was very attentive about this, asking us if we were ordering any food at all and made sure to let the kitchen know we wanted food so that they would stay open for just a bit longer. They have a late happy hour menu, so we split a burger from that menu. For drinks, my boyfriend had the Blunderbuss (run and coffee liqueur) and I had the Angels with Filthy Souls (gin and sparkling wine). Both drinks were just decent. The burger came out actually split in half for us to share already, so again I thought that was very attentive of them. I don't know if maybe I was just famished after not eating most of the day, or if they put extra care into making the burger, but it was one of the most delicious burgers I've had! My boyfriend and I split the burger to not overeat at such a late hour. But after taking that first bite, I kind of wanted to just eat the whole thing myself because it was just so juicy and flavorful and the patty was perfectly cooked. Great option for a late night snack and drinks!

Came for restaurant week and loved the set - cocktail/wine/beer, beer hummus salad, lamb pasta. The cocktails here are excellent and the staff are attentive and friendly. My friends were also happy with their wine and rose pours. Place has an intimate lounge vibe.Would absolutely be back to try other things. Note there is a SF health tax that is added to the bill.

This was such a cute little spot we found while searching for place to eat in the city. What caught my attention was they have holiday drinks and this time of year I'm all about the holiday drinks! The ones they have here are Home Alone themed. I ordered the Face Slap since it had Baileys in it. Presented in an adorable Christmas glass, I only wish it had more drink and less ice but delicious nonetheless. We had the arancini the start and it was delicious, piping hot and so good! I got the cheeseburger and it came with a hefty helping of fries. I asked for it medium and it was cooked perfectly! All of the servers were very attentive and checked in on us. Definitely a new go to spot for dinner in the city!

Had dinner and drinks at The Madrigal for the first time and it was a classy and intimate spot to catch up with friends. The bar is beautiful and the lighting is cozy. Only thing that didn't match the ambiance was the music, little bit too much Journey playing for an upscale environment lol.I got the cold snap to start since I had seen so many good reviews on it. Unfortunately, the amaretto whipped cream on top was thick and lumpy like the cream was overworked. The drink itself was a good espresso martini, but the whipped cream detracted from it. From the dinner menu, we shared the pea hummus, crab and spinach dip, paella arancini, beef tartare, chicken sliders, lamb cavatelli, and a side of fries. I thought their menu was quite creative for elevated bar bites, so I appreciated the varying options to choose from. The food was solid but leaned toward the saltier and heavier side. I liked the pea hummus, chicken sliders, and fries the most out of everything we had. Special shoutout to their crostini that came with the crab and spinach dip and the beef tartare, these were perfectly toasted and buttery. Service was nice and attentive throughout our time there. The happy hour starts at 9pm, and they have a couple cocktails and food choices on there. I was happy to check this place off my list, and I'd come back if I was in the area.

An underrated gem in SF. The Madrigal is a nice cozy spot where you can get food and drinks. The inside is well designed and is dark and dimly lit. Our server was super friendly and welcoming. I love this place because of its solid happy hour. Happy hour is from 9pm-closing and select cocktails and food are $10 which I think is a great deal. Not many places in the city do a happy hour at night time so that's what stands out about this place. I think they change their drink menu every so often as well so it's nice to have new options. Will definitely be back!

This was our last stop of the night & we made it moments before last call. The drinks, wow. Ambiance you can be dressed nice or casual. Service super friendly! Our drinks were so unique, especially the forbidden forest that comes in a tea cup. Also, just heard they have a secret drink menu so will have to come back to try more!

Came here late on Friday for dinner and drinks. The food was good but the cocktails were the star of the night. Lots of different, creative cocktails. Would def go back.

Might just be a new fave cocktail bar for me. I've been a number of times now (including just last night) to grab drinks after work and I've yet to leave unsatisfied. Their cocktails are creative and delicious, the interior design is chic, the low lights are a vibe, and the small bites are really tasty.I've had a number of food items on their menu but my favorite would be the the crab and spinach dip. It's creamy, it's crabby, it's cheesy, and the crostini's are buttery w/ just enough crunch (the roof of your mouth will be okay!). They tend to be pretty busy so it's not unusual for the service to be a bit slow but the people who work there are really kind and super helpful if you're unsure what to order. Make a rezzy and definitely check this place out.

Creative cocktails! Would not picture this spot from the outside. I got a cocktail off of the late night happy hour menu and the glass wasn't filled all the way... adding a big ice cube would've made it better! Would come back again for late night happy hour

A mixed experience on a busy night at madrigal during SF Restaurant Week. What drew me in was their irresistible SF Restaurant Week deal-three items for just $30! 1) Choice of specialty cocktail (any drinks on their menu) 2) Paella Arancini 3) Chorizo spiced lobster dog. Fantastic deal if you are looking for decent food and strong cocktails with quirky names without breaking your wallet-this is it! Service was mediocre as it seemed like a very busy Friday night. The restaurant seemed more like a lounge than a restaurant. The dimmed lights and high ceiling gave off a romantic atmosphere which me and my partner appreciated.TIP: Make a res!Not much to say about the food. The arancini was standard and wished there were more of the seafood tomato sauce. The portions were tiny and was left with a semi full stomach. We ended the meal with their buttermilk vanilla panna cotta. It was light and delicious. Their candied kumquat was the perfect balance of bitter and sweet. The highlight of the entire dinner was definitely their cocktails! I would 10/10 recommend "Thyme Out."While the slow service was a downside, the friendly staff comped our dessert which left a positive impression overall. I would definitely come back for their cocktails.Cheers.
