Wow. We just had an amazing dinner at The Ligurian, a thrice-weekly pop up from one of San Francisco's most prolific chefs, Joseph Manzare. The LIgurian is at the former Rose Pistola - big enougH for a group, small enough for a date. We LOVED the food. The ragu, Caesar salad, bone in New York, salmon, whole roast chicken, almond torte, pistachio gelato and more more mOre. The polenta was excellent. Such an amazing meaL. Make a reservation and go!!

We're spoiled in San Francisco when it comes to Italian food whether it's a classic red sauce joint, thin crust pizzeria, or restaurant with handmade pasta. While some of the dishes at The Liguarian were good, nothing stood out and there were too many disappointments to warrant a return visit. The good:-Bruschetta platter (a nice platter with 4 bruschetta variations)-Focaccia and ricotta (the wood fire focaccia was a winner)-Wood fire roasted chicken (moist and delicious)-Friendly and attentive service and staffThe not so good:-Wood fire roasted Pork chops (2 super thin chops, dry and overcooked)-Sausage pizza (tasty but soggy due to a non-crisped thin crust with too much sauce and cheese-Pasta ragu (too much liquid in the sauce and the pasta was not even cooked to al dente)

We were looking for a fun restaurant in North Beach for our party of 4. We came across this pop up restaurant in the former Rose Pistola space and seemed like a good bet. Started with roasted mussels, roasted bitter greens (can't remember what it was called) and sausage pizza. Moved on to a pasta with pork ragu and pork chop. The chef prepared the majority of the meal in the wood fired pizza oven. We chose to dine family style. Every dish was prepared to perfection and we all were impressed. Full bar and decent wine list. Prices are reasonable especially considering the quality of the ingredients and skill in their preparation. This is a pop up that is only open for dinner Thursday Friday and Saturday. Highly recommended.
