The Good Life is a solid choice if you are selective about what to buy. If you are short for time and only want to go to 1 store, this might not be the best option depending on what you are looking for but they do have the things you will need to make a tasty meal. Some things are definitely more than you'll pay elsewhere (most of the crackers for example). Pasta and canned goods prices were okay; in general maybe a bit higher than some places but not too much so. For vegetables, they do have some nice deals and stuff you may not find elsewhere (heirloom tomatoes, early girl tomatoes, variety of fruit and different vegetables). I felt like the tomatoes alone were worth the trip (grape tomatoes for cheaper than I saw anywhere else, beautiful heirloom tomatoes at a decent price, and early girl tomatoes which can be hard to find in the winter [I haven't had them yet but they looked fresh]).There aren't a ton of options for the meat counter but they are all quality items and the prices show. For example, the only chicken they had was Mary's chicken. The cheese selection was great especially for a small store and they had some nice meat, olive and peppers (homemade?) options for charcuterie boards. They also sell premade meals. Probably not the place you should buy everything you need but it's a good supplemental option and there were some gems. I guess they have a few locations so I would be back to this one if I'm in the area and would also check out one of the other stores if convenient too.

Love it here. They're super nice and have a surprisingly large amount of things for how few square feet they're working with. Parking is usually easy too.

Nice selection of groceries and some very nice ready made meals. Very fresh fruit selection. The mango was outstanding.

Came by to support local business during a street fair and was served up with unsafe food, rude service from a manager and some differential treatment likely based on demographics. We came up to the street booth and ordered chicken skewers and tried to pay for the organic produce, but needed to pay by card. We were escorted inside by the manager (a Caucasian woman, pregnant, likely in her 30s) who announced loudly to all in line and to the cashier "they haven't paid yet" despite us already being at the back of the line. She was very huggy and warm with other customers, so not a bad day. The cashier didn't even know how to use pricing for the street event (and the manager didn't know the pricing!). No apologies, just seemed irritated and likely because I didn't fit the richer, white demographic this business seems to target. The chicken skewers were lukewarm and undercooked, clearly microwaved and likely unsafe to eat, so we threw it away. It's really uncool to try to support a local business to be shut down for what likely had to do with me not fitting the demographic/elitism.PS: I tried writing them on their website - no such luck, but found that they're looking for staff and managers in every department, so lack of any clear leadership is obvious

I love local spots that have great snacks. I came to SF for a show at The Bottom of the Hill & took a little stroll to this store. SO glad I found this gem !

I was having a particularly difficult day. I have been betrayed by my old employers. They did not pay me many months, they didn't keep good records (I had to reconstruct everything which took me a year). They took money from my retirement contributions. So far they are choosing not to solve the numerous issues and ignore my attempts to right the situation- it has been a year. I am having to move as a result though I welcome the change. I was going to have to do paperwork on the case during precious family time and dropped the box all the paperwork got disorganized when it fell. I took this as a sign to leave that alone for the weekend despite a deadline I had. I am leaving to a different side of the country far from my family. I was already distraught by the financial strain I was experiencing. I have my own healing business and care for many people so this has been hard to maintain my business from such a deficit of so many unpaid months of pay that I earned. It has created so many frustrations beyond this. I do have Grace in my life and have been born with many gifts that will provide for me. I went to The Good Life to buy flowers and items for my sister who had invited me to come for Thanksgiving. I was so low that I sat in my car out front and cried my eyes out. Kayren the owner noticed, came out and held my hand to supported me. I am an independent person and am in the business of helping people all over the world with both physical and emotional issues. I do not always experience support for me as a result of my own role. People in my life tend to count on me for support. She was so incredibly kind to me and asked if I'd like a coke for my drive. She went to get one. She then came back out with a beautiful bouquet too. She sad I must keep it for me and not give it away. I have always loved this health food store. I appreciate the warmness of the environment. I have shopped here for 25 years. Just want to let people know the kindness of the founder. I know everyone around here loves this place and a review is not necessary for their success. I am inspired by this much needed nurturing that I was the fortunate recipient of. I felt almost as if if I could no longer go on at that moment and I am incredibly strong. Let this be a reminder to all of us the power of spreading kindness!

Having moved to the area recently, I wanted to give the local neighborhood market a try. I was bit surprised walking in and seeing how small the place was. Don't judge a book by its cover however, as everything is well stocked and you'll find all of your essentials here. They have a great selection of meats, cheeses, and produce to choose from. The frozen aisle is not too bad either if I do say so myself. Getting there on foot requires walking up a rather steep hill, so do be prepared to burn a few calories. You will not be paying Whole Foods prices, but it is not super cheap like Wal-Mart or Target either. Overall: 4 stars

I now live in Bernal, and mostly frequent the Bernal Good Life, but I lived in Dogpatch for many years and Good Life Potrero was my go-to. I stop in whenever I'm on 20th, so I visit once ever 4-8 weeks.I love this market. It's not perfect. But it's the perfect small store.I like it a lot more than the larger Cortland street branch. It's amazing how much stuff they cram into a small space. If you don't see what you are looking for, ask for it! It's probably there, just up in the rafters on on an out-of-site shelf or something.I wish they had a bigger deli section, and I wish they sliced meat on demand like Gus's but to be fair, they have everything I need and almost everything I want.Anyway, love this market. If you're going to wHole Foods Potrero, maybe take a chance and try out Good Life a few blocks away instead.I don't even live that close to it anymore, but I go there whenever I get a chance. Great staff, good food selection.

Small, well stocked, friendly. Crazy well stocked given the size, less expensive than whole paycheck and much higher quality everything than a corner store. The produce is always excellent. If you can't find a thing just ask, there are weird little shelves and niches everywhere.
