Awwww. Small coffee was given while i was waiting for bagel.
The Egg Smith, with sausage and bacon. Along with cheddar cheese on a whole wheat bagel. None greasy, and so damn good!
food
Small white mocha. Better than Starbucks by a long shot.
Toasted croissant with ham, egg, & cheese. It got too brown a bit, but still tasted great!
Egg and cheese bagel and lox and capers bagel. Quite affordable and yummy

My new favorite item to get here is the Taro Bun, that is sometimes available in her new steamed cart. Its a rare treat! She also has a small refrigerated section of sodas, yogurt, fruit bowls, and newly added japanese style rice balls. Pro Tip- $5 minimum for using card, but she will let you carry over your balance. so you could charge your card for $5 even if you order is under, and use the remainder on another day. Since I work nearby, she knows me by name now and even allows me to pay on another day if I've forgotten cash, etc. The owner Jan is the sweetest!

Since the Philz Coffee (across the street) had so many recent negative reviews, I wanted to try The Coffeesmith. Unfortunately, they weren't open at 2:45pm, when they usually close at 3:30pm. Hope everything is okay. Maybe this place is shutdown due to excessive violations???

Yes! Finally found a good breakfast sandwich place in the Hayes Valley/Civic Center area. We kept passing by this place and got the chance to try it last week. CoffeeSmith is located just on the nice side of Civic Center (before the grittiness of the Tenderloin) and is a local, family-run business. We stopped by and tried their bagel sandwiches and got the EggSmith with meat and then an EggSmith with veggies. There's a selection of bagels from local bakeries to choose from and they have the usual suspects like jalapeño cheese, and asiago. The service was friendly and our sandwiches were freshly prepped and took less than 10 minutes. There was just the one person working there and so I can imagine a world where there could be a line (it was just us that day) but hey it's a local business and you're getting a quality breakfast sandwich.Everything was super fresh, you're not paying Hayes Valley prices, what more could you want from a bagel place? We're looking forward to heading back soon - maybe to try the steamed bbq pork buns I saw in the display case on the counter!

This place has very yummy pork buns. Sometimes on my way into work I will stop in if the like isn't long. I'll get two pork buns to-go and head to work. The older Asian woman usually working is very sweet and kind. It's near a bunch of state and federal buildings and I hope they stay in business!

Pleasant. Unexpected. Mom and Pop. Very local feeling, clean coffee shop with a hidden gem- the snacks! They took the time to describe all the buns they had, so I tried them all! So glad I did, they were some of the best I've had in the bay. Made with love and very home cooked taste/feel. Pork bun was my favorite. Also, really excellent service. I went in for a coffee, left with a belly full of buns and a big smile.

My go to place for breakfast and if I'm here, I get the coffee as well. It's the most reasonable priced coffee compared to the surrounding coffee chains in the area. Here are a few items that I usually purchase:Asiago bagel w/ cream cheese - LOVE ASIAGO. That's itBreakfast bagel with sausage or bacon - for when I'm craving meat in the morningBanana - I don't like spotty soft bananas and this place serves the bright yellow ones that are perfectly ripe. I'm very picky about my bananas, don't judge meCoffee - inexpensiveJang and her helper are very sweet and friendly.

Subway was out of tuna salad, I should have just skipped lunch..but no I thought I might try this again. The owner was the only one working the joint today. Same thing happened with the gloves-she handles the cash register and then handles your food with the same dirty gloves! I don't know how the health score is so high.So I ordered tuna but I've never seen tuna "salad" like this. It's a coffee and sandwich place?!? Like really tuna salad is a pretty standard item in delis and its listed on the menu! Yuck!
