Delicious food, loved the atmosphere and the drinks were tasty. Definitely does not feel like a hotel restaurant at all even though it is connected to one. I would definitely recommend.

We've been to this restaurant several times before and always had a great time. However after the last visit we are not likely to return. Both my husband and I had horrible food poisoning after our dining experience. Granted we shared oysters and steak tartare, and like all restaurants they had the warning about eating raw or undercooked food and food borne pathogens. However when we emailed the restaurant about our experience, we received no reply. It's really more about how they did not handle the experience and less about the food.

I have a list a restaurants in the city that I love. Cavalier was on that list until tonight. They've completely changed their format. Instead of getting a normal meal at a normal price, you get a tiny incy wincy portion. My daughter got the salmon. Three ounces/bites, at best. I got the steak. No more normal ribeye. Instead, shaved pieces of skirt steak in a salad. Ridiculous. I got the twice baked potato. It was half a potato (and tasted like something you might get at Jack in the Box).I'm giving two stars because the decor and service were great. The value has fallen through the floor. Never again.

TLDR: I'm shocked this place doesn't have better reviews. Had a great dinner here with my favorites being the deviled eggs (best I've ever had actually) and the cauliflower gratin (SO decadent and cheesy). Most importantly, I felt like every member of the staff here tried to make our experience top notch (the chef heard we loved the deviled eggs so she threw in an extra one on the house).------FOOD:1. [MUST TRY] Deviled Eggs (5/5) - Flavor explosion. I order deviled eggs whenever I see them on the menu, and the ones here were so complex and so satisfying that we ordered more after we tried them. I was so impressed. 2. [MUST TRY] Cauliflower gratin (5/5) - Extremely cheesy (you get great cheese pulls from this). The melted cheese on top is a great pair with the liquid gold sauce around the cauliflower florets that all have a nice crunch to them. 3. Tomato Salad (5/5) - Super fresh heirloom tomatoes and a delicious hummus base with feta and dill. It's not a big portion for the price, but it's very tasty. 4. Caesar Salad (4.5/5) - This is an intense Caesar salad and I loved how flavorful the dressing here was. Halfway through the salad it did start to get a little salty for me, but others didn't find it too salty for them so this is a personal preference. You can tell the croutons are made in house. 5. Parm-crusted Pork Chop (4.5/5) - Delicious and came with this great chili maple syrup that added some cool complexity to the dish. Could have been a tad bit heartier as an entrée but otherwise was great.6. Fish and Chips (3.5/5) - The fries = impeccable. I think they're "thrice fried" which explains how incredibly crispy they were. This dish came with a LOT of fries, enough for a group of 4 to share. The fish was surprisingly not that crispy though and didn't have that much flavor. I also really didn't like the vinegar aioli it came with. I wish it had just come with a tartar sauce or something more standard. ------SERVICE:* I felt like we got great service, but there also just weren't that many people in the restaurant so it's hard to say what it would be like when it's busier* Our waitress was really sweet and made sure to check in on us throughout the meal------ENVIRONMENT:* Located in the Zetta Hotel* The entrance to the restaurant feels like it's in an alleyway * Inside, the restaurant is really well decorated and gives upscale-British-restaurant/pub vibes to match the cuisine. Most restaurants have forgettable interiors but this place was really lovely. * The restaurant gives quieter, more intimate dining vibes, but there weren't many people in at the time so it's hard to say for sure. It doesn't feel like a place where people would get too loud and rowdy

I think the Marlowe burger's still got it, though today I could've passed on the bacon. Fries are okay, I like that the plate comes with aioli so that I don't have to ask for it in lieu of ketchup. I was disappointed with dessert - I saw some pics of a sticky toffee pudding but they don't make that anymore. It's been replaced with a sticky toffee *bread* pudding. It was good here though, unlike the one from monk's kettle that they really shouldn't serve. It was spacious and there was plenty of seating without a reservation. Came on a Wednesday night. Service was actually kind of amazing. There were like 3-4 staff helping us right when we sat down. We were there for a second dinner and they split the dish for us without us asking other than saying we'd share. I was impressed. It made me think a lot of places really don't try anymore these days.

I never forget to write about how good Cavalier was, their humble staff members and hostess, the holiday decor, and of course, the presentation and quality of the food prepared for me. Everyone loves Cavalier because the people I saw were here to dine on holiday occasions. This fine dining area looked like it was chosen the most when it comes to better tastier quality eats.Aside from the minty N/A drink, salads are a must-have for my appetizer. I liked how the Cavalier Salad was tossed perfectly; every greens and dressing in harmony. No need for a miso glaze as a more flavorful alternative. Cold greens complete; on to the warm greens! If I remember correctly: green beans, micro greens, cauliflower, squash, and the Tempura Shiitake Mushroom sitting on a big plate of coconut curry. I was surprised how any chef had made the coconut curry mild. It's a pleasant taste to have that even a non adventurous will have this veggie dish. The amount of breading of the Tempura was absolutely filling and I hardly have enough room for any dessert.Best place to dine for the holidays; however, the menu option had changed since I first came here. Maybe one day, I'll be lucky enough to come across the Skuna Bay Salmon dish followed by kombucha. The gaming room upstairs is for the private party. Perhaps I'll ask my supervisor to choose Cavalier as another Golden Gate Taproom to celebrate next time.

A nice warm ambiance place especially during the holidays. Staff was friendly and attentive.Cocktails were slightly above average but the dessert was a disappointment. The bread pudding was a tad dry and small in portion. However, the brussel sprout chips were delicious. The devil eggs were ordinary but pricey. The salmon was done perfectly and the burger was alright (bland in flavors). The seating was not very comfortable when you had to cram into a small table with a handful of guests in your party. For a $$$ restaurant, I expect everything to be on point.

Had the Marlowe Burger - asked for medium rare, came perfectly cooked. Fries were good, standard pour on house wine. A little pricey when compared to other similar menus at other restaurant. Has aVery nice warm ambiance . The fish and chips are really good, and the Brussel sprout chips are also interestingly different.

Cute restaurant in the Zetta Hotel. Classy feel with fun music. The service was good but a little slow. It took a while for the server to take our food order and the food took a long time as well. We ordered the nuggets and fries to share at the table. I ordered the scallops and it was a bit salty. Overall I would come back for happy hour because the chicken nuggets and fries are so good!

We got the mushroom gnocchi, skirt steak, beef tenderloin carpaccio with Ceaser salad. All 3 dishes were waaaay too salty and very disappointing. We also tried the beet salad, Brussel sprouts, and smoked deviled eggs. Best dish was probably the fried brussel sprouts which is pretty sad. My friend liked her Marlowe burger. At least one person was happy with her meal. Service was ok. Very cute inside. Probably would be a good spot just for a cocktails not food. Small portions and overpriced.
