Service and decor are super classy and the cocktails are 5/5, absolutely delicious. Cocktails: Fiery mango: fruity, spicy, fresh. Lichee express; fruity, bright, rich. Can't speak on the main courses but I did try the Birria quesadilla which was very rich and delicious, however it was a tad too greasy for my tummy! Stay away if you're sensitive to a rich/fatty dishes. If you're made of steel than definitly give it a go and share with a dinner mate!

I was initially hesitant try this spot because I had my reservations about Burma love from past dining experiences but I truly enjoyed Teakwood! I love that it's classy yet comfy and the staff were all so friendly. Our party of 3 came for their brunch menu (available until 3) on a Sunday and it wasn't too busy around 1. It was also very easy for me to make a reservation online. The portions were good enough where I'm sure if we had just gotten 3 dishes to share that would've been slightly more than enough! We went home with leftovers with 4 and it came down to ~$45 per person. For 3 people, we were pretty stuffed with what we had ordered. - short rib khao soi: the meat was very tender and the noodles were the right texture (my favorite dish from the meal)- tea leaf salad: very refreshing and flavorful but I do prefer the tea leaf salad at Burma superstar- kan gyi thoke: the noodles were a little soggy and I felt like we could've done without ordering this one- black sesame stack: really liked the crispy edges and it was not too sweet but nothing special (I'd try a different dessert next time)Additionally we had each gotten a cocktail: fiery mango, lychee express, and martini bago. Our group preferred the sweeter and fruitier drinks so the lychee express and fiery mango were our favorites.I'd like to try more of the menu but I feel like I'd only come back for happy hour or another brunch hang to catch up with friends. The vibes and ambience really carried for my rating and review. At the moment there are other spots I'd prefer if I were craving tea leaf salad or khao soi but overall it was a lovely spot for a cute Sunday brunch with friends!

Grabbed drinks and snacks here a few weeks ago before a show at the Bill Graham! The service was great. I don't remember their name but our server was super helpful and pretty funny! The highlight was definitely the roti platha. The roti was crispy on the outside and nice and pillowy soft on the inside. The curry was so flavorful, perfect for the rainy day we had. As for drinks, I got the passion it's and their espresso martini. Both were great! My only "complaint" would be the prices. I wish there was a happy hour, but the prices weren't too crazy for the city. Overall, I definitely would come back if I have a show at Bill Graham!

Had a reservation with a group of friends and we decided to go family style. So many great options at Teakwood that it was hard to choose. Highlights of the night were the garden green curry and the roti. There was a lot of thought put into what vegetables were in the curry and also how they prepared and cooked the vegetables. If you have had roti before--I don't think I need to explain why roti is such a hit. If you haven't tried roti before--100% recommend. The mango lassi was also really delicious and cut through some of the spice. It was like dessert in a drink. The price wasn't too bad for dinner. It came out to under $60 per person for a group of 5. The portions were perfect for sharing and we didn't even have room for dessert at the end of the meal.

I've been a fan of Burma superstar although their quality has been going down. So I was excited to hear this new upscaled location was opened by the same owner. Overall Food, cocktails, service are all p good but smaller portion for $$$. We sat at bar and cocktails we tried were all good, I had lychee espress and passionista, which wasn't on menu anymore, but our bartender was nice enough to make one. For food, we ordered tea leaf salad, Branzino (expensive for portion), eggplant (salty by itself from miso so order with rice!) and garlic noodle. They are all good except garlic noodle didn't taste like garlic noodle, but more like noodle you get from street food with soy sesame flavor. The restaurant ambience is nice for date night and packed on the weekend so make reservation in advance!

Teakwood - A Burmese Food Gem in SFIf you're looking for incredible Burmese food in San Francisco, Teakwood is a must-visit. The flavors are bold, the dishes are beautifully plated, and the drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) are just as impressive as the food. Short rib khao soi - The pork was tender and flavorful, paired with savory, umami-rich noodles that had just the right amount of chew. This dish was deeply comforting and packed with bold spices. Hen-of-the-Woods Mushrooms with Tea Leaf Sauce - This was my absolute favorite! The mushrooms were crispy and earthy, but the real star was the fermented tea leaf sauce--so tangy, complex, and addictive that I kept asking for extra just to dunk every bite. A must-try! Drinks - The pink cocktail was refreshing and beautifully presented, and the mango lassi was rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced in sweetness with fresh mango flavors. Whether you're drinking alcohol or not, their beverage menu is just as thoughtfully crafted as their food. The atmosphere is stylish yet cozy, the service is warm and attentive, and everything is executed with amazing attention to detail. Whether you're already a fan of Burmese cuisine or new to it, Teakwood is an unforgettable experience. Must-try: Hen-of-the-woods mushrooms with tea leaf sauce & mango lassi Perfect for: Burmese food lovers, adventurous eaters, and cocktail enthusiastsDefinitely adding this to my list of SF favorites!

This restaurant is an offshoot of Burma Superstar and Burma Love in San Francisco, aiming to offer a fancier and slightly more innovative take on Burmese cuisine compared to the more traditional styles of its predecessors. While the presentation of the dishes is impressive, I found the flavors less compelling overall compared to Burma Superstar and Burma Love. Ambience: 9/10Food: 1. Mango Lassi - 7/10A ginger-infused take on mango lassi. Interesting, but not something I'd go for. 2. Chicken Satay - 7/10Decent, but not as impressive as some versions I've had at Thai restaurants. 3. Fish - 8.5/10A standout dish--sour, spicy, and flavorful. However, it leans more toward Thai flavors than Burmese, which feels slightly off theme. 4. Steak - 8/10Overall Food: 8/10

Teakwood is an absolute gem near Hayes Valley, by the owners of Burma Love! I made a reservation for five about a week in advance, and our dinner at 5:30 PM on a Monday started off in a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. The restaurant filled up around 6:30 PM, but even when it got busier, the ambiance remained cozy and welcoming. The tea leaf salad was the star of the night--bursting with flavor and texture, a true must-try! But every dish we had was incredible. We shared the chicken garlic noodles, which were perfectly seasoned, and the lemongrass steak, cooked to perfection with a great balance of flavors. The aged duck curry was rich and satisfying, while the dayboat scallops were beautifully seared and fresh. The plancha calamari was tender with just the right amount of char, and for dessert, the coconut panna cotta was a perfect ending--light, creamy, and indulgent. To top it off, the Letters from Myanmar cocktail was a delightful highlight! It was refreshing, STRONG and balanced, with a unique twist that complemented the meal beautifully. The service was impeccable--attentive without being overbearing. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu, answered all our questions, and made great recommendations. If you're looking for a dining experience that combines exceptional food, a relaxing ambiance, and stellar service, Teakwood is the place to go. Make a reservation, come hungry, and don't skip the tea leaf salad! I'll definitely be back to explore more of their menu.

This place is quite spacious with a refined jungle-y feeling to the restaurant. We ordered a tea leaf salad as well as the chicken coconut curry and both were quite large in portions and delicious in flavors. The service was also kind and quick!

It was crazy, it was cool, it was amazing. I was walking around trying to find food that wasn't of the usual like burgers or something of that nature. Was looking for just a quick bite to go after my shift and instantly loved the ambiance of Teakwood, all I saw was people laughing inside, so I called my girlfriend and told her to meet me in Hayes Valley for a new restaurant adventure. I've never had Burmese food before I was skeptical due to me never having it before but I gave it a chance and wasn't disappointed, I rarely do reviews but this placed definitely deserved the 5 stars. First I come in ask for some food to go and was invited to sit at the bar, I sat down looked at the menu and order the Lemongrass Steak for me and the Aged duck for the lady. However, that was to go, but while sitting down and talking to my girlfriend they recommended some starters while we waited I believe it was the Calamari and the Salmon. After tasting the starters while we waited for the food to go the Bartender T and the Server Mia checked on us periodically making sure the experience was everything and more. The starters were bomb and I told them hey y'all, I definitely want to cancel to go and eat the food in restaurant instead. No hesitation the team said okay sounds good, do you need anything else? It was nice to be in a restaurant that was able to check on us without us having to look for a staff member or ask someone we didn't know to find our server. Our server had so many tables to take care of and never stoped moving but somehow always had time for us. Same with the Bartender T he always had a smile all the customers at the bar were happy it felt like everyone was regulars the way everything moved to smoothly at the bar. We then asked if we could move to a table but then I looked and there was already a bunch of people coming in to eat. The whole restaurant was packed. I've worked in industry for a while and the other customers I could see were also having an amazing time. I asked the tall Bartender T if we could have refills of our cocktails, we order the Golden Rock and the High Tide originally, it was fire I mean straight fuego. My girlfriend asked me "so when are we coming back" we want to make it one of our normal places to eat now. Thank you Teakwood, thank you Bartender T, thank you Server Mia, you're definitely a credit to the profession and we will definitely be back soon!!! P.S. if you go to Burma definitely ask for Mia or Bartender T to help, they know how to perfectly articulate everything on menu as well as all cocktails!
