We stumbled upon this place because my friend needed to use the bathroom and we just stayed for dinner. The tacos were freshly made. You can see the person cooking the meat right in front of you. The tacos were more expensive than other places but I guess that's just SF's prices? They have quite of options for meats and it came loaded and even came with side of onions and radish. I couldn't help it and also had a Mexican street corn. It was delicious, nice and creamy and nice tajin spice.

Been going to this wonderful place for well over 25 years. They used to have dollar tacos in the late 90s and 2000s now they're four dollars but still so amazing. It's kind of a steel in the city and the quality is so delicious. Please support them.

I recently visited Taqueria Vallarta during the pandemic and I was pretty disappointed with their food. I was scrolling for a place for enchiladas and came across this location. From the pictures, they looked bomb.I ordered the chicken enchiladas plate which came with a side of chips (I'm not sure if they offer chips with all orders or if its with certain items). The chicken enchiladas plate came with a side of lettuce, avocado, sour cream, rice, and refried beans. The chicken enchiladas were bland. There wasn't much flavor but it was a recurring theme in the meal. The refried beans and rice were bland. The chips seemed like they weren't fried too much and the oil used was different... it's kind of hard to describe the chips but they were way too oily, had no seasoning, and weren't crispy. The red sauce that accompanied the chips was bland and not even spicy.Overall, considering the price and the quality, I wouldn't come back to Taqueria Vallarta and I'd look for another place. In general, the food is bland and not worth the price.

Decent drunk tacos. I can't say much more. Okay service, questionable ambiance. Fresh made tortillas would be preferred - and easy to make

I drank tonight and had the tacos. They were so good! No wait unlike El Farolito. I got the bucha, lengua and suadero. Suadero being my least favorite. I'd definitely come back!

Excellent tacos. The carne asada, lengua and pollo asado tacos each had an amazing taste to them. My favorite is always the lengua tacos, which have never ever disappointed me. Taqueria Vallarta is one of my favorite spots to come for tacos in San Francisco.

Tacos are just that, tacos. not great not good, just OK. For quick, no where else to go late at night and being hungry, then ok, this could be the place to eat some greasy ok tacos. This is yet another one of those mission restaurants / businesses where they make their $$ out of charging extra for using your debit/cc, I mean really!? how many people still pay cash. If these were tacos under $2 fine, but they are not cheap and it adds up, so prepare to have $$ cash, unless you want to pay 3.+% percent for using your card.(oh! and the cashier who helped us kept complaining about how people using their card slow her down, seriously!? you are getting paid AND you have business coming in, so do your work lady!)I think today might be the last time I visit this taco place :/

In a previous life, I was probably a mermaid because I love seafood and oysters a little too much. I'm always looking to try Oysters with different sauces and toppings. Always Raw and on the half shell. Oysters always make my Happy Hour just a little happier. My mom told me about the little special at Taqueria Vallarta in the Excelsior. We like to have cervezas with our oysters and they have a special during Happy Hour which is everyday 4-7pm, $1 Oysters and $1.50 Coronitas. Or 6 Coronitas and 6 Oysters for $13.The only thing I was disappointed is that during happy hour, they ran out of the special Coronitas and had no jalapenos. I just can't imagine a Taqueria without jalapenos.

All for $6: the al pastor tacos are decent though it arrived pretty much as is. A visit to the condiments stand is required to spruce it up. The horchata was available in only one size. Their front board listed tacos as $1.50 but the regular menu had them for $1.75.The place is not small and is easy to find in the Outer Mission. Weekdays they close at 12:20AM and on weekends at 3:20AM.

It's with a heavy heart that i post this update.I have been a die hard taqueria vallarta believer for years and years.I used to dream of their tacos when I wasn't in the city.Unfortunately, the last couple of times I have gone, the meat has not been nearly as good. But I stuck to my trusty suadero and at least that was delicious. This last time, even the suadero was hard. I mean, it hurt my teeth to chew. All the meat was hard. I got pastor, asada, and suadero.Maybe it's a new taquero. But at the new steep price of like $5 too. It is finally time to quit.Old habits die hard, so I know I'll be back, but definitely not the best tacos in the city anymore.
