The service was incredible here. We ordered the sand storm calamari, tokusei tsukemen (dipping noodle) and shio chuka soba (chicken ramen). The sand storm calamari was perfectly crispy and I LOVED the chili crisps that came with it. The tokusei tsukemen was a fun experience to try and the pork chashu here was the best I've ever had, it was so tender. The shio chuka soba was light and delicious. Even the egg was orange and the perfect consistency. This is definitely my favorite ramen restaurant in the city, can't wait to come back and try the tonkatsu ramen next time!

Seated immediately for 2 on Sunday at 1pm! Very fast service. The interior is cozy, intimate, and not too loud. There's good lighting inside also.Dipping noodle was so tasty! The broth is so flavorful and reminded me very fondly of food I tried in Japan too :) It's also very filling!I also liked the fried cauliflower - it was more soft due to the miso glaze, not super crunchy.

overall: 4.5/5came on a saturday night and it was decently busy. our table ordered some appetizers to share.sandstorm calamari: 5/5, crispy and sauce was good karaage: 5/5, chicken was juicy though we we got a bit more sauce gyoza: 4/5 i mean it's what you expect nothing special imo i got the mazesoba: 4.5/5, normally when i go to the one in san mateo, i don't think we get any cheese or tabasco. i didn't need the cheese personally but it was fine. the tabasco adds a nice tang to the dish! i would def get again! service felt a bit rushed, like we were just trying to decide the final thing and the server walked away ?? couldn't he have waited like 2 more seconds? anyway we ordered, ate and after we finished they kept rushing to take out our bowls and plates like they needed it for another party but no one else was on the wait list. so it just felt a little unnecessary.

I'm thankful this place has reservations! Even on a busy night, my friend and I were able to snag a reservation 2 hours before dinnertime on a Friday night. When we arrived, we were seated immediately in a crowded restaurant. The dimmer lights and dark furniture made for a cozy and intimate setting.I ordered their Tonkotsu Ramen and shared a Sand Storm Calamari with my friend. The calamari was nice and crispy and was paired with a complimenting sauce. The ramen was a good portion and had delicious noodles along with tasty pork! I'd love to come back and try their other dishes on their menu. Their limited selection of noodles speaks volumes to the quality of their food.

Exceptional ramen nestled in the trendy Mission neighborhood. The vibe is sophisticated but not overpriced, and the menu is refreshingly simple -- it's unlikely to make a wrong choice with how flavorful and intentional each dish is. The chicken karaage was crispy and tangy, and spicy miso ramen was perfect for a cold, rainy evening. Due to the recent supply shortages, egg was extra -- but well worth the $3 addition. There's a reason Taishoken usually has a wait -- this place is GOOD. Perfect for a first date, night out with coworkers, or even just a solo self-care dinner. Plenty of tables, booths, and even traditional ramen bar seating available.

I came on a Sunday at noon and remembered to join the waitlist ahead of time. I was seated immediately upon arrival and saw that it got busier but there were still tables by the time I left at 1pm.I had the miso ramen and would get it again. I think it's slightly more watery than other miso ramen I've had but I really liked it the way they do it here. It still has an intense dose of flavor and I personally liked that it was a little less intense miso flavor. Also had the chicken karaage and it just slaps!!!!! So good!

Pretty good ramen place in the heart of mission. They finally opened a location after their San Mateo location. I didn't have a reservation but there was plenty of seating. I got the tonkosu ramen, which comes with thin noodles (not a fan of thin noodles vs. thick). Because of the egg shortage, they substitute the egg for extra chasu, which is a bummer. They also have a daily happy hour for select menu drinks and appetizers as well.

Went here for dinner on a Friday night at 6pm. Was able to add my name to the waitlist a head of time but note they will not seat your party until the whole party is present. Even though there was 3 ppl in our party and 2 were present, they still won't seat you. Within 15 mins, the restaurant filled up quickly and we eventually got seated at the bar.For our meals, we ordered the sand storm calamari and karaage for appetizers. Both were delicious. As for our entrees, we ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen, Spicy Miso Ramen and the Tokusei Tsukemen (dipping ramen). The noodles were nice and chewy but still had a good texture and the broth was flavorful. Next time, I think I will order just the Tonkotsu Ramen instead of the Spicy Miso. The only thing that made the experience ehh was the location to where we sat. Although we sat at the bar, we were right next to the host. Lots of foot traffic next to us because that's where everyone would check in and it would get crowded as people are waiting near us. Not to mention that is where to servers were taking all the to go orders. At one point, a server bumped into my friend (hence the crowded space). Other than that, overall the food was delicious and the service was fast. Tip: you can add your name to the Yelp waitlist if you're 5 miles within the restaurant.

I first tried their San Mateo location but was thrilled that there is now a location in the city. The menus were slightly different but the main dishes were mostly the same. I have tried their mazesoba before but this time I got the traditional tsukemen. The different types of pork, perfectly cooked egg, and chewy noodles made for a lovely combination. Don't sleep on soupless Japanese noodles, there is so much flavor and umami in this!

I believe I used to visit their San Mateo location years ago for ramen. I've had saved this on my list to visit but this visit I didn't get ramen but got their soupless dishes. Upon reading reviews I wanted to try their chicken karaage, sand storm calamari with a Suntory beer. I would have to say for 2 people it is a lot, very fried and oily and filling so don't load up on it before you order your soup! I went with the dipping noodle tokusei tsukemen and my friend got the soupless mazesoba. The noodles were really thick and chewy and good. The pork was super good and fatty. Everything was prepared well and the quality was good. The wait was a little long for the soup between the appetizers. Service was quick, I made a reservation on Yelp which they prioritize and itcan get busy with walk ins. Very clean and sleek inside, very tight and Japanese style. There's some street parking but can be hard to find parking if it's really busy. Overall if you're feeling for some Japanese in the Mission/Valencia area this is a pretty solid spot for all ages. I still had some leftovers to take with me.
