SF is in dire need of more Korean (as an SJ native, we need our own El Camino Real here come on now). Punctuated menus are my magnet, and the beef bone broth with 2 dinasour sized rib-on-bones + haemul pajeon were the perfect combo pre-matinee show. Big ups to Sungho.

Heartwarming Korean food to heal the soul. I'm not big on Korean food but I'll have it once in a while and although sf doesn't have the best Korean food, I feel like the average Korean food lover would enjoy this place. Friends did not want the marinated crab unfortunately :(FYI the bossom plate is huge!

I saw this tiny new spot with an opinionated menu, so I knew I had to try it with my girlfriend.Spicy Marinated (Raw) Crab was the highlight, and I think it'd be worth coming for. They're not kidding about it being spicy! Putting on the gloves and cracking open the shells for the delicious rewards inside was a fantastic experience. The spicy pork bone soup was what I had originally been most excited about, and I have to say, I really appreciate just how tender the meat was. I can tell they took care to put the time into this that it needed. Unfortunately, the soup was mostly bones and not much meat! I didn't find the flavor too crazy, but maybe my taste buds were fried from the crab. The banchan came out after the food, which was weird, and I found the dishes kind of middling. The staff felt pretty barebones, and I had a lot of trouble flagging down a server for more water while sweating through the crab.

Loved loved the gukbap (pork bone soup) at Sungho! We came on a rainy day needing something comforting and ended up trying the pork bone soup as well as beef rib soup along with the seafood pancake to share. First, the seafood pancake was super crispy and really flavorful dipped in the sauce it came with. It's large enough to share between 3-4 people and definitely one of the better pancakes we've had in SF. The gukbap was my favorite with a milky pork broth and super tender pork belly slices. The soup is rich and peppery and perfect for a cold day. I also tried the beef rib soup which was great as well with fall of the bone beef ribs but I preferred the pork soup more. We'll definitely be back! I can see this spot getting busy once the word gets out.

Found this place on my Yelp feed and it was quite the discovery. My friend and I had Sunday dinner here and shared the seafood pancake, pork bone soup and the spicy marinated crab. The food is excellent. The seafood pancake was perfectly crispy. The pork bone soup just had a great depth of flavor that's perfect for a cold day. The Banchan was simple but good. Lastly, I had to try the spicy marinated crab. It's a real delicacy and I remember having it once before when I lived in LA Koreatown. It's raw crab that's been marinated and it was just great - it's a little messy and they give you gloves for the experience. Service was nice, friendly and efficient. The restaurant inside was modern. It's in the Tenderloin so the neighborhood can get interesting. With tax and tip, this was $50 per person - definitely a great value. Highly, highly recommended!!! I'll be back.

Simple Korean comfort food that will warm your belly and putting smile on your face.Efficient service and very good food, it was deep, vibrant, smokey, creamy and umami at the same time.I ordered their signature pork bone broth soup that comes with pork belly. It will reminds you of Japanese tonkotsu ramen broth (both are pork bone base soup).Banchan (side dishes) were basic kimchi, pickled onions and radish kimchi.Rice was perfectly cooked, I ate two bowls.Price was reasonable and the value is definitely there. This should be a good place to eat regularly, if you're in the mood for Korean comfort food.Ambiance is modern and clean, just like you know how young Korean people are.

I love that the Korean food scene is growing in SF so I don't always have to drive down to South Bay, and Sungho is a great addition. Don't let its location in the TL turn you off!My friend and I had a reservation for Sunday at noon (because I wanted opentable points LOL) but there were plenty of seats available for walk ins. The menu is pretty short, but honestly I prefer that because it shows me that they're confident in the dishes they're serving. We were gonna try the pork bone soup (gukbap) that they're known for, but neither of us were craving pork so maybe another time. - Seafood pancake: this was huge! I loved how thin and crispy it was, and it had a good amount of squid and octopus. The table next to us ordered the kimchi pancake but the seafood one looked better imo. - Beef short rib soup (galbitang): so warm and comforting on a cold rainy day! They gave two big ribs and the meat just fell off the bone. The soup was pretty peppery, unlike other places that give you pepper to add on your own. - Kalguksu: another great option! The noodles were perfectly chewy, and there was a good amount of beef, which was super tender and flavorful. This broth was similarly peppery but much thicker than the galbitang's. - Banchan: the kimchi had a bit too strong of a fermented flavor for my taste, but the radish was so good! We were a bit confused at first though because the pancake came out before the banchan. - Hotteok: I saw on tiktok that they had this and was so excited to try - while it satisfied the craving, it wasn't fully what I was looking for. It seemed like the entire thing had been fried instead of traditionally pan fried, and it was a bit too doughy on the inside. The filling was really good though and not overly sweet. It was quiet inside so easy to have a conversation, though the tables are placed quite close together. Service was attentive but not pushy. It's a bit pricey for the TL, but the portions are large so I feel like it's still pretty worth. This is a nice cozy spot if you're looking for comforting Korean food in the city - will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu!

Oh my goodness, this place. It is amazing. Amazing Korean food - coming from a Korean from Korea. On a rainy Saturday lunch, we tried it out because we were feeling like hot soup. And boy, did it hit the spot. We got pork bone soup, spicy marinated Dungeness crab, and knife-cut noodle soup. Everything was great, but particularly the pork soup and crab were AMAZING. We also got the pork feet to go. But I am confident that it will be equally as great. We were served by the owner. And she was so friendly. The ambiance is casual. Even if we live in South Bay now, we will be back!

Where's my BFFs at?My Broque Fabulous Foodies that is!When going out to eat takes precedence. =XTaking over Joodang (previously longtime Lafayette Coffee Shop), Sungho is a new Korean resto in the TL. And, during the soft opening (until 11/30/24), they're offering 30% OFF your bill! Yup, you read right....30% OFF. Broque or not, can't pass up this offer!Sungho is open for takeout and indoor dining only. Delivery to come. Rezzies on OpenTable. M E N UKorean CuisineLimited soft opening menu: Gukbap (soup rice), kalguksu (knife cut noodle soup), pajeon (pancakes), yangnyeom gejang (spicy raw crab), and dwaeji galbi (bbq pork), and dessert: hotteok (sweet pancake). Kid's menu available.Check their IG for specials, i.e. jokbal (pig trotters). Not sure if they have their liquor license yet (didn't get a drink menu). F O O D(Prices shown pre-discount.)* Complimentary Banchan: Kimchi cabbage, kimchi radish, pa muchim (scallion salad), and jangajji (soy sauce pickles)All were solid and the perfect accompaniment to the meal for crisp, acidic in-between bites. * Gamjatang: Spicy Pork Bone Soup ($22): https://tinyurl.com/3e7dr2cp My fav Korean soup because I like it spicy! The gamjatang arrived hot and bubbly - the savory pork broth was spicy and herbaceous from the perilla leaves with several large spiny pork back bones. It may take a little effort but picking out the meltingly soft meat in the crevices is worth it. So good. Paired with rice, it was a soulful, comforting dish that hits in this chilly weather. * Dwaeji Galbi: BBQ Pork Collar ($27): https://tinyurl.com/43jy2r5pThe pork collar was deliciously rich and tender with a chew. Savory sweet marinade similar to its beef short rib cousin. Leaving it on the sizzling platter until it cooled a bit created a flavorful caramelized crust on the pork collar.S E R V I C EWarm, friendly chef and kind server who kindly packed my leftovers to take home. Prompt food service at lunch (only customer at the time). A M B I A N C EModern, minimalist space with eight tables and chef counter seats (open kitchen). Top 40s playing. As we near fluffy weather season, Sungho arrived just in time for Korean comfort food with a steaming facial. Cuz glass skin goals!
