This place has such a massive selection of fresh seafood! All of it is super high quality and cannot be found elsewhere. Their wild king salmon is from Chile, which is really rare to see. Chilean king salmon is one of the most underrated sources of wild kings and some of those fish can get absolutely massive. These fillets were meaty and tender -- I was able to snag both of the center-cut pieces right next to the collar area which are extra rich and fatty. John Dory -- this was a fish I had known about for quite some time but never saw in an actual market until now. White meat, flaky, sweet, perfect on a hot grill with some lemon garlic parsley sauce. Yellow gurnard -- this was something I hadn't even seen before. I believe it is in the flying fish family. When I was butterflying the fish, I couldn't help but admire how fresh it was. Translucent white meat still very firm to the touch. There's a smattering of other fine items as well including four different kinds of oysters, clams, fresh wild Hokkaido sea scallops and more. They take good care of all of the fish that they sell. You can ask them to clean it and they will scale/gut/gill the fish to perfection. I've been around a lot of fishmongers and I'm a recreational fisherman myself -- without hesitation I will say that they do the cleanest job by far. Not a trace of blood, all scales cleanly removed and gills/guts nowhere to be found. Makes it super easy when you're cooking the fish!

Came here on New Year's Eve and there was a short line with staff manning the entrance to let people in as staff was available to help. It was very organized and very swift (maybe waited for 10 min)? I asked the staff if it's often this busy and they say it's only for Christmas and New Years Eve that is most busy. We got in and had a very nice gentlemen help us pick our desired seafood. This place seems to be predominantly clams, oysters, crabs, and lobsters. They do sell fish and scallops and sorts but those don't seem to be as popular. Price is more than fair! Would come again

I've been coming here since 2000. It's still the best retail seafood market in San Francisco. If you want oysters from water tanks, not sitting on ice. Or amazing whole fish. At least 8 different varieties of shrimp as well. Plus live crabs and lobsters in tanks too. It might not be as inexpensive as it used to be but it's the freshest and best fish around!

Honestly the best seafood market in the city! The prices cannot be beat and everything is super fresh. Don't be intimidated by the line. It moves pretty quick. The workers are really helpful. When you enter, one of them is assigned to help you throughout your visit. Now I can't find myself to buy seafood anywhere else! Totally worth the visit.

Always great service. I asked the one gentleman about how to choose oysters. He went through a really great explanation of clams and oysters and how to judge the flavor. Depends upon content of fresh and or salt water and churned or clear water. It was very informative. Ambiance is that it is a fresh seafood market.

What happened to The Sun Fat Seafood Company that used to be affordable and cared about their customers. Now most things at Sun Fat (like sea scallops) are the exact same price as Gus's or Bi-rite. And here are photos taken 1:45 PM on a Sunday when Sun Fat is supposed to be open, but they're not. When did you stop valuing your customers time?
