Ok hear me out....I know this place is called Snacks, but DO NOT SLEEP ON THE FOOD.I originally came here looking for paletas for my daughter who has an allergy to dairy and nuts. Normally ice cream is a no-go for her but I'm thankful they had a few flavor paletas (means little stick/ popsicle) that had no major allergens. I haven't had a flavor that I didn't like. But BOOOOOYYY let me tell you about the Super Cubana Torta. That thing is massive. There are so many different flavors going on in that thing that I had savor every bite. Not as greasy as I thought it was going to be. There was Egg, hot dog, tomato, steak, avocado, some kind of chipotle sauce, ham and another kind of deli meat, and ground beef i think?. This might be one of the best Torta's I've ever had. I'll go back anyday for the paletas for my daughter. But that Torta was top tier.My wife had the taco's and she swears they're so good.

I've had Snacks bookmarked for 7 years! They used to have the counter seats with the big bikini booties but I guess they've remodeled to keep up with the changing times. It was a very hot day and we tried the mango smoothie and mangolado -- total $19.92Snacks is a very authentic Mexican place at the northern end of downtown San Mateo. Everyone speaks Spanish here and I had to google a lot of the menu items to understand what it was. They were very nice here though and offered to help us decipher after we stood there in front of the menu for 10 minutes -- hahaaThe drinks tasted very heavy and maybe not something we're used to. I appreciated the experience though. I'm thinking maybe a coconut popsicle would have been more refreshing on a hot day.

We found this little spot and knew what we were shopping for and at the thrift stores. This place is great. We love that they have seating and also that you can get items to go as well.

Absolutely love this place, perfect for the hot weather in the peninsula! I ordered the mini mangoneada, and it was the perfect portion for a quick refreshing snack. Despite being the mini size, they give a good portion of mangoes. Definitely coming back soon!

This place serves one of my favorite tortas around the area. The tortas are filled of meat, chilis, beans, lettuce, crema. Milanesa one of my favorite. Is a casual counter top service, so after you pay, you are one your own, but to be fair you won't need much after you seat down. Ambience is chill, few people here and there, is no a restaurant is just a casual snack place where you order mostly to take out.

Usually the taco deals on Doordash suck because of the low review taco spots . However , this was the only highly rated place that didn't concentrate on tacos like they others . This place does it legit . Every single ingredient had flavor in it. And it was the first time I had a manglonada.Don't know how they get mangos so sweet , but they have all the classic ingredients. You can tell from the neighborhood that it has to be legit . Latin population in the area would hate it if they were washed out places like the ones only serving calorie conscious crowds.Glad i was able to discover this shop. Super super recommended

This place was okay. I was disturbed by the cashier preparing my food without GLOVES. I watched him as he made my mini bionico which tasted delicious...but he kept wiping his hands on his apron and made my food without gloves. Being a chef that bothers me a lot, Very nice guy . But I won't be returning. Worth a try I suppose. Not wearing gloves while touching ready to eat food (cut fruits) is a big red flag for me.

This place has the best banana split ever! The parking is a little challenging on a Saturday night. But if you are patient it's worthwhile to visit this place for food and dessert. And yeah they serve food!

This is a very nice Mexican food and ice cream joint. There is free parking on the street out front of the place and there is also a parking lot across the street. They have some delicious food, ice cream and fruit based treats on their menu. The menu is full. They have an ice cream freezer full of traditional flavors and a small freezer with homemade ice pops.I decided to go with the Bionico and Shuco Guatemaltico. They were both delicious. The Shuco Guatemaltico was a hot dog, covered with cheese, fries, and many different sauces and spices. I was huge and very flavorful. I was very impressed. I could not finish it and had to save the leftovers for later. The Bionico was made with fresh fruit and was equally good. I put that away in no time. The staff is friendly and my only gripe is that the place was not very clean. The floor was a mess and the kitchen area was not up to standards either. But hey, I ate it and I survived though.I love restaurants like this that serve Mexican fruit treats.
