Sichuan Home in San Francisco is a paradise for those who crave bold, authentic Sichuan flavors. My lunch experience was nothing short of incredible, with each dish showcasing the vibrant and complex spice profiles that make Sichuan cuisine so distinctive. From fiery classics to well-balanced savory options, the menu offered a culinary journey that satisfied every craving.Chongqing Spicy Chicken: This dish was the highlight of the meal! The chicken was fried to crispy perfection, with tender, juicy meat inside. It was generously tossed with dried chilies, Sichuan peppercorns, and fragrant spices, creating that signature numbing and spicy sensation. Every bite was packed with flavor, and the fiery aroma made it impossible to resist.Hot & Spicy Lamb Ribs: Smoky, spicy, and fall-off-the-bone tender, these ribs were another standout. The layers of flavor, combined with fresh and dried chilies, made it a memorable dish.XO Sauce with Cuttlefish: A fantastic balance of umami and freshness, the tender cuttlefish paired wonderfully with the rich XO sauce. The dish had a perfect mix of textures with the addition of crunchy vegetables.Hot Pot with Frogs and Fish Fillets: This bubbling hot pot was packed with spice and flavor. The frogs were tender and rich, while the fish fillets melted in your mouth, absorbing the spicy broth beautifully. A hearty and satisfying dish for adventurous diners.Smoked Duck with Garlic and Chili: The smoked duck was tender and flavorful, with a wonderful smokiness complemented by crunchy garlic and chili toppings. A definite must-try for duck lovers.Braised Mushrooms with Bok Choy: A milder dish that provided a refreshing break from the spice, with earthy mushrooms and tender bok choy in a savory sauce. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with attentive service that made the meal even more enjoyable. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented, highlighting the restaurant's commitment to authenticity and quality. Whether you're a spice enthusiast or looking to explore traditional Chinese flavors, Sichuan Home is a must-visit destination.

Visited with family at dinnertime on a Monday night to find an almost empty restaurant. We were seated immediately and shortly after us, another family what seemed to be returning guests were seated and the manager/waittress soon came to take their order, as well as ours. We ordered the Couple's Delight, Beef in Special Chili Sauce, Sweet and Sour Pork Spareribs, Fish Filet and Cabbage in Chili Sauce, and a cold noodle with sliced chicken dish, and rice for the table. Our food came at a decent speed and the flavors were all so-so to me. Some dishes, the fish especially, were spicy but not as spicy as I've had at other Sichuan restaurants and I got more of the tongue numbing sensation than tongue-burning, sweating spice. I particularly enjoyed the sweet and sour spareribs, which were more sweet with no hints of sour, and would jump at the chance to order this again. Our dinner came out to a little bit under $100 which I felt was a bit pricey for the portions that were served. Would I come back to try other dishes? Potentially. Would those dishes be the level of spice I am looking for when eating at a Sichuan restaurant? Maybe. But I am in no rush to return.

We've been going to this place for at least 10 years and it is still by far one of the best Sichuan restaurants in San Francisco. For my spouse and I, it is our favorite. The food is always excellent, super flavorful and consistently of the same quality. The prices are super reasonable. The service is friendly and fast. This place is legit Sichuan food (I lived in China so I have high standards ), if you are looking for American-Chinese food, I am sure they can do it, but might not be the best.I am surprised this place isn't getting a better rating. Good for us because there is almost never wait time to get a table.

Came here with a friend on a rainy Saturday evening! My friend got the Couple's Delight, which was good, but it was a cold dish which he didn't expect. We shared the Chongqing Style Chicken which was very tasty - it was hot, crispy, and flavorful! We were originally going to order the Sichuan Tea Smoked Duck, but our waitress warned us that this is a cold dish & she recommended we get the Spicy Tea Smoked Duck instead. We both found the duck was a bit salty - besides that, the duck was cooked well and the flavors were great! The staff was very friendly and the service was fast - would recommend checking this place out!

Not for the faint of heart! The dishes here are - true to Sichuan cuisine - spicy AF. Even the complimentary pickles were spicy! They do have some non-spicy dishes available, so for those looking not to upset their stomach, that is an option (then again, why go to a Sichuan place in the first place?!?).Spicy dishes ordered: preserved egg and tofu, potato noodles, and the spicy fish herb soup.Non-spicy dishes ordered: jellyfish, chow mein, and the dungeness crab with pumpkin. We received excellent service and food recommendations from our waitress, and they even stored the birthday cake for us and provided plating and utensils at no additional fee (we made sure to tip well). Looking to spice things up? Go check out Sichaun Home.

Rain had subsided. Mid May. We finished hiking and back from Tennessee Valley. Feeling peckish. I announced I wanted a sandwich and my BFF and hiking buddy said he was not hungry. I love Lou's so off we went to Geary. I stumbled onto this Chinese restaurant a few doors down. Never heard of it but I wanted something warm all of the sudden. Sichuan organ meats in hot chili oil to the rescue on a cold day. The Chinese word for this dish is Mao Xue Wong. Honestly the best I have had inside and outside of China. Superb dish. Excellent for impressing your Chinese friends with. Authentic. Fried intestines is a guilty pleasure of mine. I ate quite a bit of that. Also super Chinese and something I would order all over again. For the whitie friends in your circle - pot stickers and kung pao chicken are decidedly Americanized. This restaurant is small and unnoticeable from outside but a real gem. Best I had since I was in Shanghai for work recently and dined at a fancy Sichuan restaurant on our campus. I would definitely be back with my family and friends.

Craving for some Sichuan food and decided to make a trip to Richmond to try this place out. Sichuan home was mentioned in the Michelin guide from 2013-2017 so was pretty excited and had high expectations for the food. THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!!!There was only one server running the dinning area but seems like she got everything under control. Serving the tables and taking care of the Togo orders and didn't seem a bit overwhelmed. She also took the time to ask our spice tolerance and offer to make the dishes we ordered less spicy if we wished.Food was authentic and the Sichuan flavor is very in your face. At the end of the meal, my partner and I were sweating but can't stop because it's so addicting. Our favorite was the green peppercorn fish soup (recommended by the server, as the restaurant is known for their Sichuan fish). The fish is tender and packed with flavors that's somewhat refreshing and not too greasy. Definitely will come back again next time to tryout other dishes that seem interesting!

Date: Monday, February 26th, 2024Meal: Dinner DeliveryParty of: 2Time Ordered: around 7:30pmTime Delivered: around 8:15pmHow: DoorDash (DD)Delivered To: Outer Richmond6. Cucumber in spicy Garlic Sauce 蒜蓉黄瓜 ($12.95)39. Chongqing Style Spicy Chicken 重庆辣子鸡 - Boneless 无骨 ($18.95)25. Spicy Fish and Chinese Herb Spice 香水鱼 ($30.95)114. Pot Sticker (6 Pieces) 锅贴 ($10.95)For some reason I was craving fish. Specifically fish cooked in chili oil. I'm more of a Canto Chinese food girl, but sometimes food in chili oil seems super comforting. Looking around DD, I found Sichuan Home. The hubby doesn't really eat Szechuan food, so he just randomly picked the fried chicken. I typically find this dish more breading than chicken, so I don't normally care for it. This one wasn't any different. Lots of peppers tho, which was nice since I like spicy. The cucumber salad was good. Garlicky and flavorful. Tho I like mine with heat, so I added more hot chili oil. The fish dish was huge! Not that I wasn't expecting it to be at $31, but it came in three large soup containers. The fish itself was nice and moist. I do wish restaurants served this is smaller portions since I can never finish a whole one. I still have 2/3 of it sitting in my fridge. Lol!Great spot to fulfill my sichuan boiled fish cravings.
