I'm still trying to figure out how to get Yelp to allow half star ratings lol as I felt this was a 4.5 star review and not a true 5 star review. I leaned toward the 5 star as I'm a big fan of nostalgia.Since the restaurant opened in 1965, once you walk in, you get that fancy classic vibe from that era. Brass railing, polished wood countertops at the bar, pictures of all the famous people from over the years, and servers wearing all white. Our server Tim was on point with a great attitude and funny sense of humor. His food suggestions made it easy to order. Started with an old fashioned and let me tell you, that was stirred up perfectly. The calamari was better than most places to me as it wasn't just all batter. Good clean squid and not chewy at all. I went with the pasta diplomatica as my entree and it was exactly what was needed for the cool breezy night on the waterfront. My client had the mixed seafood plate and he said it was mighty delicious. We shared the dessert platter which came with 2 cannolis, 2 biscotti, and 2 chocolate truffle balls. All were decent. It was a business dinner so I wasn't able to get pictures of all the food but this is a must visit for seafood lovers without a doubt.

I visited this place based on the excellent reviews but left disappointed. We ordered the fish and chips and mac and cheese for the kids--both were bland and unremarkable. The clam chowder lacked depth of flavor, and the calamari could have been better. The fish sandwich was decent, but nothing special. The ambiance was excellent. That said, the service was top-notch, and the location was great. A plus for pescatarians: the clam chowder contained no bacon or other meat besides fish.

Scoma's has a very nostalgic atmosphere. Great place for groups with a fully stocked bar. Plus there's free valet in the back of the restaurant. We ordered the clam chowder, fish sandwich, pacific snapper with spatzle, and crab cakes. The crab cakes were filling, and the clam chowder went well with the complimentary bread you are given. The fish sandwich was phenomenal. While the pacific snapper was cooked well and tasted fresh, I felt it could have been seasoned just a bit more. Usually I'd try a dessert but we were too full after the appetizers and entrees.

Our dinner at Scoma's was the perfect way to wrap up a romantic trip to San Francisco. Located right on the waterfront, this iconic seafood spot captures that old-school, traditional dining charm that's hard to find these days. From the moment we walked in, it felt special--classic service, white tablecloths, and a warm, welcoming vibe.We started with the beet salad, which was fresh, vibrant, and beautifully balanced with citrus and creamy cheese. For my main, I couldn't resist the "Lazy Man's" Cioppino--a hearty, rich tomato-based seafood stew loaded with crab, mussels, clams, and tender fish. Every bite was packed with flavor, and I loved that they did all the hard work by cracking the crab for you. My wife had the Pasta Diplomatica, and it was equally impressive--a decadent mix of shrimp, scallops, and clams in a creamy sauce that was indulgent without being too heavy. The setting is quintessential San Francisco, with gorgeous views of the Bay and a cozy, elegant atmosphere that makes any occasion feel special. Service was attentive without being overbearing, and it's clear they've been perfecting their craft for decades. For anyone visiting San Francisco, Scoma's is a must. Whether you're a seafood lover or just looking for a memorable dining experience by the water, this spot delivers. We'll definitely be back next time we're in town!

Recommended by my godfather, Scoma's is a San Francisco institution. I was having a hard time deciding on what to order, so we started with the calamari. It was very good. When our server came to take our order, he told us of a special: sanddabs. What is a sanddab you might ask. Well I would describe it as a small flounder. Served with lemon butter and capers, it was delicious. Scoma's was a great dining experience, in a very classic setting. If you to wait for a table, take the opportunity to wander around a bit. If you go to the end of the pier, you can see the "bait barges", with hungry birds looking through the netting.

We enjoyed our seafood meal at Scoma's Restaurant. Fresh and delicious Wild Black Cod and the Pacific Snapper were superb! The sides that came with the dishes were so good we could lick them off the plate! The Clam Chowder was excellent too. Creamy and smooth. Can't end an enjoyable dinner without having dessert so we decided on the Torta Setteveli and the Lemon Tart and they were divine! Our server was nice and patient with us. Beautiful restaurant with beautiful views!

Went for lunch on a Friday with my mom and aunt. We had the fresh oysters as an appetizer. They were absolutely delicious! For our main course we had the roasted Dungeness crab and Atlantic king salmon. These were also very flavorful! We dipped our bread in the melted butter with garlic that came with the crab - so good! For dessert we had the freshly made cannoli. This plate came with two cannolis that were light and satisfied our sweet tooth. They paired well with our freshly brewed coffee. Service was top notch which made our dining experience memorable and enjoyable.Scoma's is located in fisherman's wharf and we were seated by a window with a view of the Coit Tower and the Transamerica pyramid. Blessed with beautiful weather and a nice view, the ambiance was lovely.
