I've eaten at plenty of hawker carts throughout Singapore, so I had high excitement and hopes when we parked at Faction Brewing in Alameda and saw the Satay by the Bay food truck. After picking up a brew at Faction, we found a table on the patio and then placed an order for the namesake chicken satay plates. The plate consisted of 3 chicken satay skewers, peanut dipping sauce, a side of rice (I passed on the rice because I'm keto), and cucumber slices. Service was fast, but not very personal. Not rude, just perfunctory and business. We were given a buzzer and sat to wait. We occupied ourselves with our drinks, so lost track of time. But man, I did the math and we waited 21 minutes for the buzzer to go off. We got there late in the afternoon and it wasn't at all particular busy. Presentation-wise things seemed fine. But where are the Singaporean flavors?!? The chicken itself lacked any discernible Singapore or Malaysian flavors profile. No ginger, lemongrass, cloves, cumin, chile, or any memorable flavors. Just grilled chicken. And the peanut dipping sauce was similarly blah. It was a chunky peanut butter based sauce without the Malaysian flavors I expected. No heat. No garlic. This was a Thai peanut sauce masquerading as Singapore satay sauce. And these three weak satays and dull sauce rang in at $16. The cukes were fine as far as cucumbers go. And they threw some red onion slices on the plate to I guess compensate for the blah satay? On the upside, Faction has an amazing view of SF and the Bay Bridge. So the ambiance was lovely. This is a one and done for sure for me.

Got to try this food truck when they were at faction brewery last week. The chicken satay with rice and cucumber salad was delicious. The peanut sauce poured over everything with a little chili sauce is the move. It's also a good amount of food, i was satisfied.

A pretty unique food truck focusing on satay sauce and deconstructed chili crab. Sadly, they don't sell any satay skewers à la cate, so you'd have commit to a whole meal. Everything I tried was tasty.Chili Crab Garlic Fries: At $23.90, this is probably the most expensive order of fries I've ever placed. Though it's also the most unique. None of the burden of having to pick a chili crab yourself. A ton of crab meat resting on a bunch of crinkle cut garlic fries with a nice sweet tomato-y chili sauce on top of it all. I was hungry and it was still way too much to me. Though I think I managed to eat most of the chili crab with the top half of fries, so it was mainly the soggy bottom fries and a few runaway crab bites that I didn't get to. This is a truly unique Singapore San Francisco fusion!Satay Sandwich: A fun bánh mì hybrid with chunks of skewered grilled chicken and rich peanut sauce for a nice Singaporean flair. Served on Dutch crunch rather than a mini baguette, to have a little bit of San Francisco influence. Lots of great tastes and textures. Appreciated how they didn't skimp on the chilis.

Finally got to try this food truck at the Presidio Tunnel Tops Park on Saturday. There were some other food trucks and it was the perfect place to enjoy some food and gorgeous views of the Golden Gate Bridge. I tried the Singapore chili crab fries. The portion was huge and it came with a good amount of crab! I got it with garlic fries instead of normal fries for extra flavor. It was pretty good, definitely meant for sharing

Snacked on some marinated chicken skewers from this food truck offering some good eats in front of Winters Tavern at the Pacifica Rock n Roll Flea Market this past Sunday. Service was quick and easy, no lines, no waiting. Freshly made food, delicious sides of plain veggies and rice, and tender chicken with a nice char and good amount of flavor.

The service was fantastic. The chicken skewers were flavorful with the peanut sauce and came fresh off the grill. Juicy and tender, thank you for a lovely meal. Will come back soon.

as a Singaporean, I've been eager to support this eatery and I finally caught the pop up food truck in SF Presidio. I asked for recommendations between the chilli crab fries and the satay sandwich, and was told that the chilli crab sauce was only slightly spicy. since I love spice and was afraid that the chilli crab sauce would not be spicy enough, I got the satay sandwich, but will definitely try the chilli crab fries next time!the satay itself was tender and smoky just like our street food, but I do wish there was more peanut sauce! that would make the sandwich a bit less dry. other than that, I loved getting a taste of home again and supporting a fellow singaporean :")

Had a chance to meet the queen herself, I fell in love with her entire name and biz. I was absolutely stuffed by this point, YET I wanted to try everything on the menu mentally. So I decided to go with the vegan garlic fries and they were out of this world. I will absolutely be back to try the rest of the menu. Phenomenal!

Singapore chilli crab fries-- 1lb of fries??? Pretty worth for $20 dollars and they do not skimp on the crab meat. Fries were really crunchy and stayed crispy even though it was drowned in sauce. Loved this dish!
