They are absolutely the best! My husband loves Magic Shell ice cream topper (yes, he's a kid at heart) and they insisted on carrying it in their store. Of course I said please don't encourage my husband lol but this is just an example of how super accommodating they are to the neighborhood.HUGE BONUS: they carry the best Japanese whiskey (Coffey Nikka) $20 cheaper than down the street in addition to a variety of top shelf liquors. I try to shop here as much as possible just to ensure they'll always be around and I highly suggest you do the same

A great neighborhood market. There are actually 2 on this block. The one down the street (Grant & Green Market), is essentially the store for wine, beer, liquor, & cigarettes; whereas S&S is the store for groceries. They usually have all of the flavors, even strawberry & pumpkin, It's-It ice cream bars. And they carry both soy & almond milk, so you don't have to make a special trip to The Nature Stop just for that. There's also a surprising number of options for frozen dinners. My old roommate loved the Stouffer's lasagna...or basically anything Stouffer's for that matter. She had me hooked for awhile... Remember being able to eat whatever you want without any physical ramifications? Sigh. But now the best part...they always have hard boiled eggs available at the counter. Everyday. One egg will set you back a mere 65 cents. That's just a little bit more than the extra that I'm charged to make my latte w soy milk. And it's actually less than what I'm charged to make my latte w almond milk. A nice, healthy shot of protein for practically pennies?! Yes, please! The same family has owned & run this place since the 90's. Love.5 stars.

Its a corner store. The guys who work here are cool and know my name. The sell 40's and the other store on the block doesn't, which is the only reason I've been coming here for 3 years. There is a pet cat and a 100 year old man who does all the heavy lifting.

Friendly staff. Hilarious white cat that likes to run out in the morning and swipe at my dog's tail, then run back to the safety of the store. HA!They always, always have the flavor of ice cream that is the only flavor my son really likes. They pack a lot of stuff into this tiny store, and you can find pretty much anything you may need in a pinch here: SOS pads, wine, the aforementioned ice cream, sodas, etc. Oh and you can buy MUNI fast pass here, and not deal with the crabby MUNI people at the Montgomery St station. Yay!

It's a nice little corner store. I was looking for some ingredients for my dinner. They have a lot of basics and booze. Their selection of fresh fruits and vegetables is very limited so you can just walk another block down to the Nature Shop. There is also an ATM in case you need cash. The grocery takes cash and credit for totals more than $5. The lady at the cash register was really nice and asked me if I was new to the neighborhood. We chatted a little about North Beach and she welcomed me to the neighborhood. Prices are little higher than you would find at a place like Safeway but when you factor in that you don't have to travel very far or pay for public transportation or gas for your car or parking, it all evens out.

Small. Oddly lit. Smells weird. But come on, it's a great little corner grocery store.I had to review it because I went in there today and this guy was shouting: "I'VE ALREADY GOT ENOUGH CONDOMS AT HOME! I DON'T NEED TO BUY ANYMORE CONDOMS!"Well anyway...

I started shopping here once in a while when my beloved Fog Hill Market was forced out. I've come to really appreciate the good selection, nice people, and now especially the fact that they haven't drastically raised their prices since the pandemic began - unlike another Grant Avenue grocery store I could name. No - not the Nature Stop. Going forward I plan to shop there as much as possible - because I want them to stay. And their pretty cat too.

S&S now offers free delivery to nearby neighborhoods during the Shelter-in-Place order in San Francisco! I tried it and it's super convenient. The driver drops off the grocery at the curb with no contact - much more convenient than waiting in lines at Safeway.
