The new kid on the Mission block is Roosters Peruvian Rotisserie and I would encourage anyone who likes flavorful food to give it a try After having Pollo a la brasa in Peru it's very challenging for anyone outside of Peru to meet the expectations of authentic Peruvian cuisine. Roosters does an admirable job of bringing those flavors to San Francisco. Their Pollo a la brasa is full of flavor, tender and moist. The star of the show is Aji de polleria or "chicken sauce"! Wow, this sauce is packed full of addictive flavors and would pair well with anything The side salad was fresh with avocado slices and a delicious dressing. The fries were ok. I'm not sure if they were hand cut but they did have a bit of a frozen taste. The service was adequate, friendly and attentive. A few doors down from the iconic La Taqueria, Roosters offers vibrant, colorful pictures that capture the essence of Peru. The picture of Huacachina took me back to the uniqueness of the village and riding the dune buggies on the sand dunes. The picture of the people packed bus also brought back memories of the intense traffic and public transportation scene in Miraflores. There's only a handful of tables so it may not be great for large parties but I believe they offer take out. If you're familiar with the Mission district you know that parking is also scarce. You're best bet is to find parking where you can and walk the rest of the way.

3.5 STARSHello, Hypertension. Is that you?A reel has been going around the community about Roosters Peruvian Rotisserie having the best pollo a la brasa in the city. The pollo a la brasa was bomb...a salt bomb but I'm going to blame it on the *perks* of getting older. More on that later.Opening in mid-September 2024, Rooster Peruvian Rotisserie took over II Pollaio. They offer indoor dining, takeout, and delivery. There was surprisingly a 15-20 minute wait for a table on a random Tuesday around 3 pm (and it was hot inside) so I ordered takeout.M E N USpecialty: Pollo a la brasa (Peruvian rotisserie chicken). Small menu but they have Peruvian staples like causa (layered mashed potatoes), ceviche, lomo saltado (stir-fried beef w/ fries, rice), jalea (fried seafood), arroz chaufa (fried rice), etc. * Lunch Specials *: Monday - Friday, 11 am - 4 pm: Quarter Chicken w/ fries, salad, can soda: $17.95 OR Quarter Chicken w/ pesto pasta, can soda: $21.95Beer and wine available. F O O D* Pollo a la Brasa: Peruvian Rotisserie Chicken (Half-$15.95) // 3 Stars: https://tinyurl.com/yfwk2kb5IMO, a 5 star pollo a la brasa has a trademark crispy, well-seasoned skin with juicy and flavorful (not too salty) meat...even the breast meat. Unfortunately, this rendition fell short. While the marinated chicken (garlic, soy, herbs, etc.) was richly spiced and flavorful, it was hella salty to me and the meat was dry...even the dark meat. Plus, the skin was soggy. The accompanying ají de polleria (peruvian yellow sauce) was deliciously creamy, garlicky, and citrusy with a kick of heat. * Tacu-Tacu: Peruvian Bean & Rice Cake (Side-$9.95) // 3 StarsA Peruvian version of refried beans and rice, leftover rice and canary beans are mixed, formed into a patty, and pan-fried. I enjoyed the punchy salsa criolla (pickled onions) but the mashed tacu-tacu itself was bland. * Yucca Frita: Yucca Fries (Side-$6.95) // 4 StarsFav item, they yucca frita were still hot by the time I got home 10 minutes later. Crunchy on the outside and fluffy soft on the inside with a subtle nutty sweetness. Can rarely go wrong with this side. S E R V I C EFriendly and prompt. I was quoted 15 minutes for takeout and it was ready in 15 minutes.A M B I A N C ENo frills, cozy space with tight seating (7-8 tables) and an open kitchen.P A R K I N GChallenging street parking but the 24th Bart Station is just 1.5 blocks away. Overall, I was underwhelmed with Roosters' pollo a la brasa (mainly the dry meat since seasoning is subjective) but maybe it was an off batch and/or the key is to go at opening time when the chicken is fresh out of the rotisserie? 3.5 Stars rounded up for a new local small business.

Saw a Peruvian raving about this place on Instagram so I had to check it out, and I agree, the pollo a la brasa is genuine and genuinely delicious. It comes with an iceberg salad topped with sliced tomatoes, cucumbers and avocado with a mayonnaise based dressing. It was not very tasty. We ordered the Roosters ceviche which comes with fish and shellfish, because the waiter said the day's ceviche was catfish, and I'm not a fan. We were served the regular ceviche and were told it was the Roosters one. There wasn't a morsel of seafood, and some bites were more tender than others. The lemon wasn't bitter though, and we asked for more rocoto because it wasn't very spicy. The restaurant is small, very clean and nicely decorated with Peruvian touches on all the walls. The staff is really nice and they're attentive. The customers were all Peruvian so there's that.I'm coming back for the lomo saltado which smelled and looked amazing.

Peruvians love to go to Peruvian restaurants so when my friend chose this newer spot for a lunchtime meetup, I happily hopped on BART and made my way across the Bay. I was happy to hear familiar cumbia playing and to see the bright photos, posters, and mural that are practically required from any Peruvian-owned business. The server asked us to choose any table we wanted and had that familiar and charming Peruvian accent. Other Peruvians arrived for lunch which boded well. My friend and I opted for classics: I ordered the quarter pollo and she chose the lomo saltado. The food was solid. I prefer my pollo a little more juicy but it was flavorful. The aji amarillo sauce was so good we finished it before our meal ended. Portions were large as Peruvians would expect so we had leftovers to go. I will definitely return.

10, 10, 10 across the board! We came here as an early birthday lunch celebration for my dad. Food and service was great! We ordered, lomo saltado, tacu tacu with lomo saltado, and mostrito. With our food we got to try all three aji's they offered and the rocoto was fire! It's rare to find a peruvian spot that actually offers spicy rocoto, since most places tone it down. I will most definitely be coming back whenever I visit SF.

Went in for lunch. 3 tables opened up, obviously needed to be cleaned, asked for a table and they immediately said we needed to be put on a waiting list. Asked why as no one was waiting for tables. In fact, requested to be seated at an unclean table while we waited for service but were denied. They asked us to wait outside to which we saw no sense as no one was waiting for service. Therefore I do not recommend as the service is just not worth the cause. They should advice their staff to be more customer friendly.

Went here for the first time since it was all over my instagram so was expecting something great! Long story short, food was ok and the wait time was not bad. My kids and my husbands food came out my my Lomo Saltado took like 30 minutes, I feel like it wasn't put in and then when I asked for it, she quickly went to put the order in and when it finally came out my rice was cold! Anyways very small place and food ain't that good

the quality and presentation of the food, the taste was really good and well seasoned, the yuca fries and dip was excellent and well made, the ambience was confusing tho, the service was terrible to be honest, we came into the restaurant not knowing if we had to line up to be sat in which we found out we should've sat ourselves. We asked for a table for two and the server and the expediter both looked confused and only after someone said we can have their table because they were leaving were we noticed by the server, we sat ourselves and the server never came to give us a menu, so after about 15 minutes of waiting I flagged the server down. The ambiance was good and chill. Service needs to be better and better seating system.
