Amazing service, ambiance and food. Their black truffle risotto is and absolute hole run of a dish. Having spent a significant amount of time in Italy, including Rome, I'd put it up there with some of the better ones I've tasted anywhere in the world. Insider tip: Portions here are larger than average, the risotto mentioned above is easily large enough to feed three.Roma Antica is not to be missed when in the Marina or frankly San Francisco as a whole. No reservations accepted so be sure to plan ahead.

3.5/5. My boyfriend and I came here for Valentine's Day dinner, and we enjoyed the romantic ambiance with flowers on the walls and each table, purple lighting, and a projection of hearts and a fireplace on a screen. Although they usually don't take reservations, they opened some up for this particular day.We liked the complimentary tomato and rosemary foccacia, but the cocktails were a let down unfortunately. The medicinal cherry flavor dominated the Sweet Heart, and the La Passione was a bit thick like nectar juice. Their calamari only had the rings (no tentacles, which are my favorite), but I surprisingly appreciated the zucchini. I enjoyed my Amatriciana pasta and its slight heat; the bucatini was cooked nice and al dente. My boyfriend liked one of the night's specials, a truffle fettucine with morel mushrooms, but it was too rich and creamy for me. At the end of the meal, a friendly neighborhood cat named Oreo came in and said hi to a few tables - so adorable! Our entrees were solid, but overall, I prefer other Italian restaurants.

Super cute parklet and dog-friendly! Great customer service too! The pups got a complimentary meatball and a bowl of water! I love that they have a blanket on all of the chairs and heated lamps. You get free focaccia bread too! Make sure to check in on Yelp for a complimentary tiramisu! I'm not usually a big fan of Italian food, but this made me enjoy it so much! Everything we ordered was not overly oily, cheesy, or dry!ORDER:Margherita Pizza - added some Italian sausage! So tasty, I love that you can taste it's from a traditional oven. It is nice and chewy, not too cheesy and tastes very fresh.Boscaiola Pasta - was nice and juicy! We got it with the pink sauce (a mixture of tomato + cream), I liked that it wasn't cheesy or too tomatoey! Pasta could be a little softer/thinner, Italian sausage was so GOOD! Focaccia bread - great flavor, not too oily or dry! Best bread I've had at an Italian restaurant!Tiramisu - Just the right amount of cake, not too sweet or overpowering! Mostly cream, a little hint of hazelnut towards the bottom which finished it off well!Cocktails: really solid! La Passione - couldn't taste that much vodka, it felt more like a refreshing juice to me, but that's probably because I'm so used to drinking vodka, but still a great drink! Sweet Heart - can taste the alcohol more than the La Passione, not overly sweet, refreshing! The little heart stick was cute!Overall, would come back again! :)

They were pretty generous with the arugula for my prosciutto pizza. Not a fan of arugula but not the end of the world. I'm glad they have a pizza selection because I'm always indecisive when it comes to pasta. The pizza was made well and I have no complaints about the amount of prosciutto. I'd say this is a good spot for all parties from single diners, couples on a dates, and small groups. Service was decent too.

Yum yum yum! True Italian authenticity at its core here at Roma Antica. Fresh ingredients, straight to the point menu, and amazing service. We were able to grab a seat outside to accommodate our dog and loved people watching and soaking in the beauty of the Marina District. Loved the complimentary focaccia! It paired nicely with the freshness of the Burrata alla Caprese. We also ordered the Cacio e Pepe and Margherita to share and wow.. never had a pasta and pizza quite like these two. Don't let the portion sizes fool you! It was all carb heavy so we were left feeling extremely full (and satisfied). The tiramisu for dessert was soaked in espresso, perfect for a sweet palette cleanser. I would definitely recommend this dog friendly spot for anyone visiting the Marina!

Careful!!! I really wanted to like this restaurant. Great street ambience. Nice exterior seating with heaters and (clean) blankets on every chair. Greeters were super kind. Raphael (One of the outside waiters) was giving high fives and smiles to patrons who were leaving. All seemed aligned for a fantastic experience. Not so. I sat outside and should have known something was up when the heater above me was not working. I was also one of two tables not being serviced by Raphael. Why waiter never approached the table. After 10 min I had to order from the greeter. About 10 min later I asked about a waiter. I was told that my waiter had ordered my lasagne. (Without ever approaching me). About 5 min later I asked to see my waiter. I was hoping to have a small salad too. The waiter FINALLY appeared. We talked salads and he gave me a menu. Then he left and didn't appear again until I had given up on my lasagne. I was never able to order a salad. The lasagne came out. Luke warm. I got about half way through and found a cold spot I stopped eating. My waiter did show up again and I told him to take the meal away. He offered me a free desert. Whatever...Didn't see him again so asked I asked for my bill from one of the greeters. What is so frustrating is that across from me in a different section there was a great waiter. Everyone was having fun. Talking. He was all over his tables. That would have been a better experience. I would have given a 1-star. But gave a 3 due to the good waiter I watched. His name was Rafael. Ask for him if you're brave enough to try this place. I didn't feel giving the whole restaurant a 1-star over one horrible waiter and one bad experience. But beware. #disappointedOh, yes they did charge me full price. And yes I did leave a 20% tip. Other workers get part of that tip too and it's not fair to them to be shorted because of a bad waiter.

I must confess, I felt a pang of guilt as I walked past Napizza, my tried-and-true love, and into the doors of this establishment. It felt like culinary infidelity. But lo and behold! They are sister restaurants! Betrayal averted, and now I feel like I've merely discovered a hidden chapter in my love story with carbs.Where Napizza leans into pizza perfection, this place goes all-in on pasta dreams and comfort food bliss. I scoured the menu for my beloved Mozzarella en Carrozza from next door, but alas, it was not to be. However, fate had a plan, and that plan was the sausage and potatoes. Yes, I know, it sounds humble, but trust me--this dish is the sleeper hit of the menu. The sausage was perfectly spiced, decased, and both crispy and chewy in all the right places. The potatoes? A crispy, creamy, oil-kissed masterpiece. Let's be real--fat equals flavor, and I was in flavor heaven. The reason I was here was that I read somewhere that this place has one of the best Carbonaras in San Francisco - Alas - it was not on the menu when I got there, I almost asked if they could make it - but I am just not that type of customer who asks for special favors. So, having to pivot for the main event, I went with the pasta with pancetta and peas in a luxurious cream sauce. It arrived piping hot and in a generous, borderline comical portion. Hubby went with the truffle ravioli, which was rich and indulgent--but let's be honest, I won dinner.Moral of the story? If you love Napizza, you'll love this place, too. It's like finding out your favorite band has an equally amazing side project. Now I have two great loves, and my only regret is not cheating sooner!

We visited Roma Antica on a Monday evening and had no problem getting seated with no reservation. We opted for their (heated) outdoor seating, so I never got to see the interior. For drinks, I chose the Puglia and my friend picked the Amalfi (both mocktails). They looked almost identical aside from the color, and the Puglia was tasty and refreshing. For food, we shared the Crocchette di Melanzane appetizer, which was incredible! The fried eggplant croquettes didn't really have a strong eggplant flavor, but the texture was great. The black truffle cream sauce was the most flavorful component. Definitely an easy item to share, although the portion size was tiny. For my entree, I ordered the Coda Alla Vaccinara and my friend chose the Lasagna. Both dishes were delicious, in a "comfort food" kind of way. My homemade pappardelle was perfectly cooked and the oxtail ragu was super flavorful. Portion sizes were average and although both items were quite filling, I had zero leftovers. Service was friendly and reasonably fast!

I've been craving pasta for quite some time and was hoping for this to be the one to hit the spot. Unfortunately, some of my major peeves were hit instead.1) The online menu was not updated yet the day I went, and the dish I had planned on ordering was no longer on the menu. I had to scramble to pick a different option on the spot.2) I'm an extremely picky eater when it comes to onions and the onions were not disclosed on the Papalina description. I had to painfully pick them out of my food as best as I could, but for those who understand, the taste lingers :(Those aside, the pasta was overall rich in flavor and had the nice bouncy texture I craved for!

Lovely Italian place in the Marina! I've been here twice and the Amatriciana is THE standout dish for me. The texture, the flavors, just WOW. Roma Antica is pretty easy to get into for walk-in, even during dinner hours. They have outdoor seating as well, which is great when the weather is warm. The service can be slow when the restaurant is full or when you're seated in the corner, but it's no problem if you don't mind flagging the waiters down. The dishes are affordable and there's a wide variety of options. My brother and I thought the Coda Alla Vaccinara was pretty good but not anything spectacular, but we both absolutely loved the Amatriciana. In fact, my 5 star rating is for the Amatriciana. The tiramisu is quite tasty as well. I'd definitely go back!
