If you haven't been to Roka Akor, you're missing out! Their Happy Hour (4:30PM - 6PM) is a standout, offering an incredible variety of food and cocktails at discounted prices without skimping on quality or portions. It's an excellent way to indulge, especially if you plan to explore their main menu. The service here is top-notch, with attentive and professional staff ensuring a great dining experience. The dim, intimate lighting creates the perfect ambiance for date nights, birthday celebrations, or even business dinners. My Favorites:* Wagyu Filet Tartare with Black Truffle Aioli* Crispy Sashimi Tacos* Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna Tartare* Sweet Corn with Butter and Soy* Portobello Mushrooms with Garlic Soy Butter and Crispy Shallots * 6oz Wagyu Sirloin with Grilled Bone Marrow and Spicy Sweet Garlic Soy* Yuzu Miso Marinated Black Cod* Lamb Chops with Korean Spices & Grilled Broccolini* Hamachi Serrano Chili Roll* Chocolate Cake with Almond Caramel and Vanilla Ice CreamFrom delicious dishes to an unforgettable atmosphere, Roka Akor has it all. Highly recommended!

Last night I finally made it to Roka Akor. I was not disappointed! Being a native San Franciscan , I love the location. We arrived on time and Adriana greeted and seated us right on front of the chefs.I led off with the Japanese Whiskey Old Fashion. It was pretty good! There was no need for appetizers because they bought out everything. The food here is so good if you like sushi tempura lobster any that type of stuff or Wagyu beef, and good drinks and a great atmosphere you gonna love this spot. I mean, great oysters Japanese whiskey sake the whole nine. Our server Jeremiah, recommended that we try the Omakase, so we did, four cold and two hot.

Overall more like 4.5/5 stars. This was a really large and bright space to enjoy a fancy dinner. Service was very attentive and detailed. We started off with drinks, and the bijin was nice and light for me. For appetizers, we got the scallops, bone marrow, and octopus, and they were all delicious. My favorite was the scallops, so juicy and flavorful! For entrees, we got the 5 kinds of sashimi to sample, the sirloin steak and the black cod. I thought the sashimi quality was just ok for the price, so I was a bit disappointed by that. My boyfriend didn't really care much for his sirloin steak due to the overpowering sesame flavors, and he liked the cod more. For dessert, I got the mango tapioca pudding and it was pretty decent.

Came here for valentines and was stuck in traffic but luckily they were able to move our reservations 30 mins later! Our server was soooo good & attentive! But let's get into the food! We ordered with our bellies!! The Wagyu tartare was soo so good!!! The bone marrow was delicious and perfectly cooked. The corn was very good as well. The salmon California roll was refreshing. The only thing that was not good at all was the miso cod. Didn't take like miso at all. It lacked a lot of flavor. Very disappointed in that. The nigiri's were fresh. Overall good experience!

Disclaimer: I came here for a team event so my meal was comped. The ambiance in here was stellar and I was severely underdressed (though no one said anything). It's very modern and sleek and you can watch food being charred, sizzled, and cooked. We had a big table of 7 people and definitely underordered because of the prices. The pork belly was very tender and flavorful, got some sushi rolls (which didn't taste too special), broccolini, and yellowtail sashimi (tried one piece). Overall, the service was really slow and it felt like we were all still hungry at the end, but it was a good atmosphere and the food quality was good. Probably not the type of place I'd go usually but glad I tried it!

One of my favorite places in SF for Happy Hour right now. A few drinks including the Lychee Fields and Hawaiian bonfire are ($10). Salmon, Tuna, and Hamachi handrools are about ($6) each. You can basically have a whole meal at the bar downstairs on the HH items alone. You have to be here M- Fri from 4:30-6pm though! The dinner is wonderful if you simply want to celebrate life or special occasion. Can get pricey and not your " once a week" type of place to go to! Warm and dark ambiance. Quick service. The sashimi and fish items are fresh. They have a mizayaki wagyu steak that melts in your mouth like butter if you are willing to shell and fork out the $ The steaks are good and full of flavor. But what I really like to get here are the baby back ribs. Think adult version of the ones I used to eat when I was kid at Chili's! ( Not as salty and better quality meat). The Valrhona chocolate cake is the dessert to get and it's just oozing with chocolate when you cut or dig into it!

Overall I would say 4.5/5 stars because of 2 things: 1) a couple of the dishes were lackluster in the omakase course 2) our server didn't really explain our dishes; however, the table next to us who had a different server had elaborate explanations of the same dishes regarding taste profile and what suggested order to eat in.The best dish of the night would be the lobster tail and sweet corn. Normally my partner and I aren't a fan of corn, but man this was amazing, it was sweet, it was tangy, it was citrusy, 10/10. But above that was the lobster, if I were to come back I would order 5 plates of those. That citrus butter sauce had me drowning that lobster tail and going back for more.Regarding the other dishes in the meal, there was some standard sashimi, some squid ink? pancakes type of dish with creme fraishe and ikura(was lackluster in flavor, it felt like everything was a very neutral flavor, like someone was tasting the color gray). The steak was mayhaps 7.5/10, a little too sweet for me on the marinade, but paired well with the accompanied chili sauce.

I've been here a few times and always thought Roka Akor was mid but this recent time I was thoroughly impressed. Let me start this review with stating how lovely our server Erick was. Polite, classy and just a kindred soul. He was consistently checking up on my cousin and I making sure we were enjoying our meal and kept refilling our waters. Highlights:Wagyu tartare - (4.5/5) Wagyu tartare was delectable and just melted through each bite. The only complaint was that some bites felt as it still had some silver skin and was on the chewier side. Miso black cod -(5/5) the smokiness really elevated the richness of the fish. The miso sauce was umami and nutty and paired perfectly with the fish.Hokkaido Uni - (5/5) very fresh and the uni was not fishy whatsoever. Creamy and crisp taste.Oysters - (3/5) the oysters were decent but not as fresh as other restaurantsOverall great experience and can not wait to come back for the good food and impeccable service.

I wanted to go to a steakhouse for our 12-year-anniversary. I wanted a typical, classic American steakhouse, so when my husband said we were going to Roka Akor, I was a bit hesitant. Only because I had my heart set on mac and cheese and other American sides.Well, once again, my husband proved why he deserves to stick to making reservations. The service was great. We had a waiter who started out with us, but his shift ended during our meal, so another waiter took over. Both waiters were pleasant and not overbearing. Our needs were met instantly.I loved that you can see the cooks at work and the hustle and bustle of the kitchen without it being to chaotic. The decor and ambiance were excellent. The food--everything I ate was excellent. The shrimp tempura was my favorite of the two appetizers we got, and I also liked the seared scallop. The baby back ribs were so tender and tasty. PERFECTION. The hamachi Serrano chili roll?! LOVED IT.This was a great restaurant, and I plan to come back.
