I visited Rise Over Run on a Friday night with a group of about 6 people. We were seated outside and had breathtaking views of the city. While the restaurant is a bit small indoors, the outdoor seating is spacious, and the heated lamps made the temperature perfect. The decor is aesthetically pleasing, and the atmosphere was great--quiet enough for conversation but lively enough to keep things interesting. The service, however, was a bit all over the place. Food and drinks took longer than expected, and there seemed to be some confusion between the bar and the kitchen with our orders. As for the food, we ordered the fried chicken basket, which was really good--crispy, savory, and delicious. The drinks were also great.Despite the service issues, I really enjoyed my visit and would definitely recommend the restaurant!

Restaurant is located in the Hilton Curio Collection. Used to be The Line Hotel. Elevators take you to the roof top restaurant which has amazing views of the city. The dining and bar areas are decorated nicely, mid-century modern vibe. Everything we order tasted good. We went for brunch before the Broadway Show at Orpheum Theater, a 10 min. walk. Would recommend for those looking for a good place to dine before or after the show.

Based on the reviews, this spot is known for its brunch and rooftop scene. I visited on a Friday evening with a 9 PM reservation. Since my partner and I were staying at the hotel, it seemed like a convenient choice. The host and servers were kind and attentive. We started with the crab cakes, which I appreciated for being packed with Dungeness crab. They were a bit salty for our taste but still delicious. For our mains, we opted for the fried chicken--a popular choice--which came with biscuits and three sauce options. While tasty, it didn't stand out. My partner had the cheeseburger, which he also found good but not exceptional. The ambiance at Rise Over Run is romantic--ideal for a date night or an evening out with friends. Given the hotel's location, I recommend taking public transportation or an Uber.

Girlfriend brought us here on a sunrise brunch date. We were a bit close to the end of brunch time... but the waiter was really abrasive. I felt a little uncomfortable from his side comment that we shouldn't have been sat. The server is the one that ended up checking on us and giving us the check. The food was okay. The fried chicken looked good but I wasn't impressed. It gave me weird fried chicken burps. The drinks! Those were delicious. I'd maybe go back in the future for a drink, but not for a whole brunch.

Ambiance, 5 stars. The view is amazing, looking out over the city. We came in today for brunch, called ahead to ensure that arriving 15 minutes prior to closure would be ok, and we got a yes, that we are good to go. So we arrived and were seated by a kind female host. Our server, who was a short stalky man came over with a strange attitude, disgruntled that the host had seated us, blamed the host for seating us, took our order and never returned, leaving the host to handle his table. The whole experience was really odd, and left a sour taste in our mouths that surpasses the flavor of the chicken and biscuits which were crispy and delicious. We were kind and polite in our communications, quick to order, eat and depart, so no need for attitude. Please management, properly train your servers to have better customer relations and etiquette. Thanks! Kudos to the bar tender, our drinks were delicious.

Cute cocktail bar on the top of a hotel. We came here at night as a group of 6 and we were able to get seated pretty quickly inside. We were able to go outside and enjoy the views of the city. I tried the Szechuan of a Kind ($18), which I was hoping would have more of a Szechuan spice, but it was still unique and good. I would come back here again if I was in the area!

I'm always a fan of a simple meal of eggs, toast, and potatoes--even if it costs a bit more, like at Rise Over Run! I enjoyed my meal, especially the toast and eggs, but I ordered a jammy egg, and it turned out to be runny. While I wouldn't say they're experts in eggs, if the jammy egg had been just right, I would've been quite satisfied. The restaurant/bar itself is small, and seating is a bit tight. I was placed next to another table, and the booth I was in had a curved part in the middle, which left part of my back without support. That wasn't ideal, but at least it didn't take away from my meal. :) I'm a simple person and easy to please, and the butter they served with the toast had a lovely, almost ghee-like quality. I also ordered the coconut milk chia seed pudding, which is another classic favorite of mine--and it didn't disappoint.Overall, I'd give it a solid 3.5! This is a good spot for brunch or drinks before heading to a show at the Golden Gate Theatre.

Cute green house style rooftop in SF. Similar to Openaire in koreatown, Los Angeles. Both are part of the Line Hotel. We stopped for a drink & apps before dinner to catch the sunset. Service was okay. Views were great! Might want to come back for brunch to see the rooftop during the day! We had come to catch their happy hour which we thought was from 4-6 but it looks like it's just 4-5pm. Noted for next time !

This is a pretty awesome rooftop bar on the top of a mid Market area hotel. Great for before a show at the Golden Gate or the Warfield if the weather cooperates. Parking is impossible, just take Uber, Bart, or Metro. Good for craft cocktails and wines by the glass, fried chicken.

Absolutely solid roof top bar. The service, ambiance, and menu selection were all top shelf. But it's a combo of the Asian inspired ingredients of the cocktails and the well designed wind protection is what has me planning a return visit. In a city just discovering people want outdoor rooftop social spaces, RoR is as good as it gets in SF
