Ozumo is an absolute gem--a true SF classic that never disappoints. The ambiance is sleek and inviting, setting the perfect tone for a memorable dining experience filled with phenomenal Japanese cuisine. We hosted a company dinner there with a few colleagues from out of town, and it couldn't have been better. The staff? Incredibly friendly and attentive, striking that perfect balance between being helpful without hovering. As for the food--top-notch. We went all in and ordered a bit of everything: fresh, buttery hamachi crudo, perfectly grilled shishito peppers, rich tuna tartare, crispy gyozas, and the Ginza Gyu that melts in your mouth. And, of course, the sushi--each piece was fresh, vibrant, and beautifully crafted.Pro tip: Do not sleep on their sake selection. It's extensive, and every sip elevates the flavors of the meal to another level.

The food was not grate I only had one dish I truly liked and it was the nigiri special for valentines, I think 6 piecesUni, ama ebi, hamachi and sake and Miyazaki which is meat and I haven't eaten meat since I was 17Even though I didn't get my ama ebi headThe Matsu 85 dollar lacked flavors but uni and sashimi were great. The nigiri sushi was blandMy hubby order Tempura and it was sad not fluffy look at pic His brother trained in New York makes better tempura Age tofu not really fry but had plenty of ginger not very well made either and his karaage was saggy and didn't lol pleasant at allMy sake was good Our waitress was greatGreat views So disappointed with the kitchen food my husband and he's Nikkei 1/2 Japanese

Food- The dishes were were larger than I expected, line the salad and fried chicken. Which made it great for sharing. Sushi options we ordered were tasty! The black cod was a bit salty for my taste but good still. I didn't need the sauce at all or it would make it a bit too salty for me. Service- Very attentive and fast. - Very kind waitress.- Great service.Ambiance - Great space for bar top drinks and can eat there as well.- Big restaurant space. - A bit darker in the bar area for dinner.

Came here on a weekday evening, and the bar was full, but the booths were almost all empty. Came during happy hour, which ends at 6 PM. Fresh fish, and good fish to rice ratio. This place has a dark and modern industrial vibe to it. Loved it for date night, will def be back!Btw, entrance is on Steuart St despite the signs on The Embaradero. It took me a few others going ack and forth to realize we were on the wrong side!

Tasty otoro, and friend warned me in advance that it was a pretty penny for a couple of bites...but if you appreciate beautiful fish, Ozumo is serving high quality "meat butter".

I stopped by Ozumo during happy hour and was really impressed with their small bites! The Kyushu chicken karaage was delicious, with a crispy exterior and tender meat inside, plus the portion size was just right.I tried the crispy rice with salmon and it was a delight! The balance of flavors was perfect, and the fish melted in my mouth. The crispy and fatty contrast kept things exciting,We tried a few of the happy hour rolls, and while most didn't particularly stand out, the Ebi Tempura Roll was definitely the highlight for me.The Dohyo spicy tuna tartare was not on the happy hour menu but was amazing and in my opinion a must order. Although the portion size was tiny (seemed like it did come from the HH menu) It was fresh and flavorful which made it all worthwhile. I would suggest a different chip for dipping though... the taro chips it came with were a bit of a letdown, as they were thin and kept breaking. We also tried some Japanese whiskey, but it wasn't served in the proper cups, and they didn't have the right kind of ice, which took away from the experience a bit.Despite that, the overall ambiance was a highlight for me--dim lighting created a cozy and relaxed vibe, perfect for unwinding after a long day. There are plenty of options for both sushi lovers and those who prefer other Japanese dishes. I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu and enjoy that relaxed vibe again!

Came here to celebrate a birthday with a party of 9 and it was easy to make a reservation the week of. The restaurant itself is dimly lit with a sexy vibe, really nice atmosphere and beautiful space for a celebration.I ordered the kushiyaki mori skewers to start, which included a beef, pork belly, and chicken skewer. I appreciated the smoky flavor from the grill, though I think they were all slightly overcooked. The tare and raw egg yolk was a good sauce to dip into to give the meat a bit more juiciness. The pork belly was my favorite out of the 3. My bf and I shared the rainbow roll and the hotate-san roll. The rolls are very small both on the fillings and toppings, which is crazy for the $25 price tag on them. The rainbow roll was okay, the snow crab on the inside was probably the best part. None of the fish on top were that impressive. The hotate-san roll was better, the scallop on top was fresh and sweet. Having just come back from Japan, the prices were shocking to me and the fish quality was not up to par with the price at all. Service was okay, though I thought it was strange that they didn't include any comped dessert for the birthday girl. There is definitely better sushi in the city with better value, save your money.

Despite not having a reservation, we were able to walk in and find a table. It was our first visit, and we were warmly greeted and seated in the main dining room. The waitress promptly arrived with menus and offered us drinks. The food was excellent, with the exception of the tuna tartare, which lacked a strong tuna flavor and was overwhelmed by other ingredients. I particularly enjoyed the Ozumo Unagi and Shrimp Tempura rolls. The atmosphere was pleasant, and everything appeared clean and tidy.Overall, we had a positive experience. While the nigiri and sashimi offerings seemed a bit overpriced compared to some other restaurants, they were still delicious. I would definitely return for the rolls.
